that 86 used 5w40 Giant Shell Helix Ultra
so this also proven that Giant aren't selling fake Shell as the additives and TBN are still very solid

Yes, now proven online the shell helix by tesco is indeed genuine.

Last time had to fight hard as someone sell the idea the shell helix tesco dont have localise content, hence not able to use here.

They had inform only need to use one sell by shell Malaysia

it's already proven before this by another forumer/member that initially post on BITOG prior to posting here.
it's in the first page, but people don't bother reading.

now for your post - It's from Giant, not Tesco.
Made in Germany.

and it's been known to have batches from Hong Kong/Germany/Turkey and probably few other countries.
i cannot guarantee if they are all the same/genuine.
but for my friend's sample on his GT86, it is genuine.

whoever "someone/they" is, it is vague and i do not care.
This thread is objective/technical oriented discussion instead of rumor mongering smile.gif

my GT86 first recond car (unknown) oil report, 2 Motul 300v 0w20 reports, and one Motul Gear 300 75w90 report on my replaced manual half cut gear box

hopefully this puts a rest to 0w20 tongue.gif

Finally gotten a first gear 300 report
Interesting additives content, almost nothing🤔

Redline have 2k+ ppm zinc content, Motul have like 100
But the wear is less on Motul

Mind blown lol
at least with the minimal copper wear, it is proven that Motul gear 300 is indeed GL 4 and 5 compatible as synchros wear it at minimal

cant compare same car cuz i didnt use redline on the 86
but for what its worth, both gearboxes of the GT86 and Inspira are Aisin based (GT86 is joint between Toyota/Subaru/Aisin)/directly Aisin
and should share similar synchro materials which are yellow metals

but its interesting to wonder what is motul using for their friction modifiers/additives as its really minimal

Engine
unknown oil that came with car

Yup no surprise at all. I still have 4 bottles of the Giant Shell oil. ☺️ Buying branded oils at these supermarkets during promotion times is the best value for money and saving. That's why I'm not much interested anymore in buying oils from other means unless there's a very special oil that I want to try that not on sale in supermarkets, maybe for example Amsoil.

Saw them too but I'm really curious on how can we determine whether it's genuine and new given there are also quite some good comments

Guys, I’m driving a 10 year old Nissan Sentra XHL 1.8

Daily driving around 120km (highway) with average speed of 130-140

Any engine oil recommendations for better fuel consumption?
*
Using Sentra too but 1.6 engine.

Currently using Total Ineo MC3 5W-40, previously Shell Helix Ultra 5W-40. Run smoothly without any issue.
