Can I use Toyota w40 engine oil for kelisa ? Currently I am using BHP engine oil w40. I check outside Toyota engine

oil for w40 is rm 70 for 4 liter but I go  service centre it sell different price.

w40? single grade oil? what's the number in front?
I've used 5w40 and many other grade for my kelisa and thrashed the living shit outta it for many years, the engine still operate like clockwork today after 300k km
i find 5w40 feels a tiny bit heavier with kelisa but the engine sounds more quiet especially compare to 0w20
5w30 is a good compromise between efficiency and protection i think, but I'm love high rev so i tend to prefer 5w40

Would like to ask sifu here. As i only clock 3-4k km /year,can do oil change once in 2years. I am on recommended 5w-30. Is there any detrimental effect on the engine with 2year OCI?

I'd say yup, because sludge would form inside the engine within that amount of time. Oil oxidises faster in the engine than it does inside a bottle. Try doing 1-year OCI instead.

Not recommended at all......and I understand your situation coz I am in almost same situation myself.

I would say it really depends on

1. what lubricant you are using.... high TBN? fully synthetic? just API compliant or with ACEA A3/B3 A3/B4?
2. what fuel are you using.... RON95 EURO2 or RON97 EURO4?
3. oil sump capacity..... 660-2000cc on 4l or 8l OR worse 3000-3500cc on 4l

Let us know, so that we can guesstimate better. As with anything, safer to do blotter test every 6mth. I believe bro.Zeng can help you on this aspect.

Tks for replies bros. I will get back on yr questions.

Bro LemonKinght, wouldnt oxidisation depend on KM driven. Meaning if I dont drive, then there is no combustion taken place in the engine, hence less oxides.

then does the carbon/blow by's that were created previously magically disappear?

Is the amount of carbon created at 4k same as 8k?

no.

however your oil is still loaded with carbon and its lifespan will be reduced by that. (along with regular oxidisation, moisture, fuel etc)
can also think of it as food, there's an expiry date. oil expiry (using food comparison) only "starts" once you run it in an engine.

there is a reason why companies like AMSOIL or Mobil one can offer 30-40k km oil change intervals, however STILL stick to 1 year duration, whichever (km, or months/year) first.

one year one oil change, is saving enough.
save even more, you may be dealing with a penny wise pound foolish situation.
