QUOTE(SKYjack @ Oct 22 2015, 08:03 PM) Mobil 1 has a 5 year shelf life, some other oils is 3 years like Castrol. Redline and a few other brands claim theirs have no shelf life. But generally just make sure to shake the bottle if it's old to stir up whatever that might have settled at the bottom after a long period of shelfing. As for yours, I'd rather not buy to keep. Buy it next year closer to the period you're using it. |

Notice the price has gone back to $229 on Shell ultra. Mobile 1 is off shelf. No choice now but wait. Tks for the advice bro! As for yours, I'd rather not buy to keep. Tks for the advice bro! All major hypermarket be it tesco, jusco, giant, etc, they take turns to give such offers on engine oils. Sometimes it isn't advertised, so you may see some surprises once in a while |

Errrr guys... Question here...
I always use my ride for long distance travel and now I have to travel all the way up to Penang. Does 0w-40 cut it?? I'm afraid the oil too thin d. Plus summore we driving during hot weather on the highway. Thats very harsh on our engine. I'm looking for an oil that protects really well for the time being. Occasional high-rev weekend ke. Brands Im looking at -Amsoil -Redline (ESTER-R-R-R-R-R-R) Have any other oils to recommend? Please do!! I would say 0w40 or 5w40, having approval on BMW LL-01 and MB229.5 and API SN will be good enough.I always use my ride for long distance travel and now I have to travel all the way up to Penang. It's more well know for their mineral oils though. Elf has been around for a long time |

QUOTE(dstl1128 @ Oct 16 2015, 07:33 AM) Maybe I should rephrase, rule of thumb, don't mix those full synth that claimed to be 'ester' with others. no, there is no claim that ester cannot be mixed with conventional mineral oil/group 3 or 4 oils.otherwise you would have to deal with issues switching to/from ester based oils as you cannot possibly fully drain your engine less you decide to rebuild/de-grease it entirely. QUOTE(dstl1128 @ Oct 26 2015, 07:18 AM) you're replying to someone driving a proton, why would he need BMW or Mercedes Benz approvals? let's not get over our heads on manufacturer approvals. and hell, if you want to go with manufacturer, stick to your own car's approvals, and that's API for Proton cars. |
