Taking the Arena FPS back to its Roots!

QUOTE
FRAG LIKE IT'S 1999: TOXIKK plays as if today's military shooters never existed. The game combines the simple and intuitive mechanics of old-school FPS giants with a fresh setting, slick graphics and our vision to carefully evolve the genre with some new ideas elaborated with Arena-FPS enthusiasts.

Designed as a spiritual successor to the fast paced arena shooters of the late 90s and early 2ks, there is no leveling, no skill-trees, no perks, no cover systems, no classes, no configurable weapons and no iron sight aiming.

Instead you get fast and precise movement (with deeply configurable mouse controls), double jumps, dodge jumps, booster pick-ups, nine iconic WEAPONS to be carried around simultaneously, secondary fire modes for every weapon, vehicular game modes, jump pads, health-packs, lots of vertical gameplay, optional mutators (incl. instagib) and everything else that made these kind of games so addictive. And if you want to practice your skills offline, TOXIKK also features a configurable BOT MODE.

Looks really fast paced and it's PC only.

"We believe that shooters are meant to be played with mouse and keyboard. That's why TOXIKK is exclusively designed for PC. At this point, we do not intend to port the game to any other platform."

Think they may want to gamble on Steam with a $15 price point and not F2P. Wondering how they going to monetise it if became successful.

there's a lot of ways to monetize this.

1. dev mod - I assume since they say it's PC exclusive, eventually they're going to release dev mod whereby you're able to create your own map. This can be sold separately, right?

2. DLC for new maps. no levelling, but maps can be locked depending on the DLCs that you have. Of coz, if they go for this one, people might just use #1 and create lookalike maps for free, if option #1 is there. Payday is a good example of this, you wanna play those new heist, pay for it. else, just stay comfortable with the heists in base game.

Actually I do kind of prefer this method as you balance out the game field. Everyone can get the same weapon without the need of grinding(well if it's Q3/UT2k4 like systems you still need to wait for the weapon to spawn somewhere in the game and then go grab it,it's no grinding but still takes effort to get those BFGs, some people camp near these BFGs spawnpoint).

1. No one is going to pay for the dev kit unless they themselves can charge for the map they made, bad idea.

2. You know what is community fragmentation? You are breaking up your own community causing some maps and game mode to have too little players because less people are purchasing the DLC while some of the maps and mode are overcrowded because everyone has it. You are killing your community in the long run.

Sticking to our "NO BULLSHIT" policy, Clan Admin Privileges (CAP) are no longer planned as a purchasable extra feature.

Instead, the CAP feature package (being able to host dedicated server(s), host online and LAN-games, and access to the game's Clan Admin Tools) will be available to everyone, with EVERY copy of Toxikk purchased!

The whole CAP package comes at no additional cost for pre-order customers (i.e. the price will stay at $15 per every individually purchased Steam key). Also, all other pre-order packages will remain at their established price.

Once the game is made available via Steam, we will raise the price per purchased copy (i.e. per Steam Key) to something around $20, but for every customer who pre-orders before that date through our store, the original price of $15 per key remains.

never liked futuristic pew pew guns. that's why titanfall only a bit of attraction for me, i've left it there for months. lol...more realistic or closer to current era FPS perhaps. COD4, CS, insurgency...now waiting for the new R6 hopes its good.

Great game. Feels like UT 2004 gameplay with UT 3 graphics. Without all those level up or unlock BS.

Can't wait for it's release.

Thanks to all of you for 533 reviews (90% positive) on Steam so far! Awesome!!!

This was a great launch for us and we're now working on the first patch which should be released by Wednesday or Thursday latest.

It'll address balancing issues (Cerberus!), fix many small annoyances (server browser issues etc.) and much more. Stay tuned.

And here comes some more 1080p, 60FPS in-game footage (captured by Rechyyy). Enjoy:
