Just test drove the Mazda 3 CBU as they don't have CKD for testing. I don't feel it is sluggish at low speed. When you press down the gas at low speed it will surge forward. Steering feedback is good and it's fun car to drive. Goes over bumps gracefully. On the same day I test drove the Cerato and it's well...like driving a well equipped Proton. Mazda 3 is a driver's car.
*
How about the acceleration of M3 vs cerato 2.0? which one better?

I tested it on CKD...but quite loud at low speed liao..less than 80km/h..

I think is bcos of the low profile high performance 18" tyres. Hopefully the GL model is quieter with thicker & comfort tyres.

Does any M3 owner facing sudden windscreen crack like CX5? Many cases in CX5 WS sudden crack for no reason...Is quite scary.

If this is common problem in Mazda cars then really need to but WS insurance.

Hi, After reading the horror stories in LYN Ford Focus and Peugeot forums it is enough to make anybody run screaming back to H or T. Was about to pull the trigger for a Civic but Bermaz has come up with a very tempting offer for this Mazda 3 CKD. But will I regret it? Please answer this worried refugee from the comfort zone of H and T.

1. Any systemic problem with gearbox and transmission? Is the lower armbush problem resolved yet?

2.Is there any major maintenance milestone like 40K or 60K km which will cost a bomb?

3. Do they have enough service centres to attend to your problems without having to make long appointments ahead?

4. Do you have to leave your car for days for any repairs?

5. Are the parts readily available without long waiting time?

6. Are the service centres willing to replace parts under warranty or do they come up with 101 excuses? (Honda, I'm looking at you!)

7. Does the Mazda 3 use a special battery for the i-stop function? If so, how much does the battery cost?

8. Anything else I should be warned about before I pull the trigger in defiance of my wife's advice that I go for a safe Civic? Will I be listening to "I told you so" thereafter?

Thanks!
*
Why Civic? Interior is so plastic & looks cheap. Old engine and gearbox with outdated exterior design. Is almost end of cycle for this model. New model coming soon next year with rumors 1.5 turbo engine 180hp 260nm. hmm.gif

Just my opinion smile.gif

The service interval is 10K km. Free service for parts and labour for 3 years or 60k km whichever comes first. After that some CBU owners say normal service is RM500-RM600 but this is SC price which must use during warranty period. But I am told that even Honda SC charge RM400 for City normal service. After the 3yrs/100K km warranty of course can use outside shop to service. From my experience using semi-syn for my 2.0L car, oil & filter change can do for RM200.

If your service/warranty limit is mileage you only need to service 3 times in SC after the freebie expire - at 70K, 80K & 90K km.

If you are going for the high spec model, be warned that 18" tyres are very expensive. You should budget RM750 per tyre.

Jim.Tan who is an SA for Mazda has shared with us that the cost of the M3 special battery is RM400-RM500.

Hope this helps.
*
Mazda 3 comes with only 3 years warranty and 3 years free service right? meaning after 3 years we can service outside. Normal service of RM 500-600 is expensive.

My Cr-z normal service in Honda SC with fully syn SM0W-20 & oil filter around RM 250. unless they add in air filter or gearbox oil then will hit RM 400.

I plan to get M3 too but a bit worry of the spare parts. Is crazy when i read CX-5 Forum. Headlamps cost RM 6-8k to replace & windscreen cost 3k plus.

Hopefully Mazda 3 is cheaper. Warranty is only 3 years unlike honda giving 5 years and have plenty of Honda ori stockist outside where you can buy parts there and install outside. hmm.gif

is it the sound from lower arm bush?

Wa..This is serious. Don't think anyone can tolerate this kind of sound for a new car that cost over 100k.

Is like driving a 20 years old car shakehead.gif

About to pull the trigger and book the low spec sedan soon. Went to test drive but only tested the high spec sedan.

Aside from the differences in wheel/rim size, the low spec sedan has identical suspension/shocks as the high spec right?
*
Yes same suspension/shocks as high spec... So what's your comment after test drive? good?

You consider 2500 rpm @100 km/hr too high? I really don't think so. Most cars are around this rpm in top gear at 100 km/hr. The rpm has been designed by the manufacturer to suit its gear ratio, torque and engine output at a certain speed. Nothing to worry about whether it is high or not.

As for fuel consumption the Skyactiv engine is known to very economical from users' reports.
*
For me is consider high for a 2.0 6 speed car. Modern 2.0 cars with 6 speed should be around 2000rpm @ 100km/h.

Current Honda city 110kmh @ 2100rpm @ 18-19km/l

Seeking advice from all pros here.

Thinking of getting a mazda 3 ckd low spec sedan later this year. My present salary is about 5k gross and 4.3k nett. Would like to ask whether this is the right car for my income bracket or go for something cheaper... like the honda city, haha. Sifus who have boight the new mazda 3, mind sharing your... income level? If i am still too far below the acceptable range, then i will put off my plans for now and go for the cheaper option.

also, what do you guys think about  used 2011 mazda 6 which are going for about 80k? Advisable to consider?

Appreciate your replies.
*
At net income of 4.3k. Don't think is a right choice to get Mazda 3 at 109k. With 10% d/p max9 years you still have to pay RM 1120 with balance of only 3180.

With high living cost and depreciation of RM, 3k bal is quite low for a comfortable living especially in kl.

Don't commit so much on car(Liability). Is better to get a city and start your saving to invest in properties etc. Few years later when you earn more exp 8k-10k+, then you can upgrade to C & D segment car anytime. Is good to have saving of min 20% of your net income monthly too..

Used Mazda 6 with no warranty will kill you on repairs/spare parts on top of your montly installment. A big No no.

Just my opinion. Unless you already have fully paid properties/ Huge FD/ Very rich family background then diff story. lol smile.gif

is mazda 3 rear seat spacious compared to sylphy or altis?

No. Is extremely cramp for a C-Segment car. Even City and almera is more spacious than Mazda 3. Not suitable if for family. Is the driver's car biggrin.gif

sorry, Polo sedan only used conventional 6 auto gearbox. the Engine is 1.6 NA. so more to less headache engine.

the other model by VW used DSG, it have dry and wet clutch. this DSG are the one affecting most user, (although some wet clutch mention their are problem-free) but well, some are not. stuck in SC + the VW sc handles those problem is most in-professional way (like taici one). case of missing 100km in exceed over their service will cost them the warranty of their car. WTH brows.gif

Yes is true.. One of my frz VW golf 5 years warranty gone because one of his service exceeded about 1k and he has to pay few k for exhaust problem within the warranty period. Luckily he managed to replace his faulty gearbox before this. A lot of complaints.

No doubt Jetta is a good and powerful car. Even better now because you can get at RM 115k after discount when the CBU unit was RM 150k. But be prepared for the quality issues especially engine & gearbox and lousy after sales service.
