Just test drove the Mazda 3 CBU as they don't have CKD for testing. I don't feel it is sluggish at low speed. When you press down the gas at low speed it will surge forward. Steering feedback is good and it's fun car to drive. Goes over bumps gracefully. On the same day I test drove the Cerato and it's well...like driving a well equipped Proton. Mazda 3 is a driver's car.

I tested it on CKD...but quite loud at low speed liao..less than 80km/h..

Hi, After reading the horror stories in LYN Ford Focus and Peugeot forums it is enough to make anybody run screaming back to H or T. Was about to pull the trigger for a Civic but Bermaz has come up with a very tempting offer for this Mazda 3 CKD. But will I regret it? Please answer this worried refugee from the comfort zone of H and T.

1. Any systemic problem with gearbox and transmission? Is the lower armbush problem resolved yet?

2.Is there any major maintenance milestone like 40K or 60K km which will cost a bomb?

3. Do they have enough service centres to attend to your problems without having to make long appointments ahead?

4. Do you have to leave your car for days for any repairs?

5. Are the parts readily available without long waiting time?

6. Are the service centres willing to replace parts under warranty or do they come up with 101 excuses? (Honda, I'm looking at you!)

7. Does the Mazda 3 use a special battery for the i-stop function? If so, how much does the battery cost?

8. Anything else I should be warned about before I pull the trigger in defiance of my wife's advice that I go for a safe Civic? Will I be listening to "I told you so" thereafter?

The service interval is 10K km. Free service for parts and labour for 3 years or 60k km whichever comes first. After that some CBU owners say normal service is RM500-RM600 but this is SC price which must use during warranty period. But I am told that even Honda SC charge RM400 for City normal service. After the 3yrs/100K km warranty of course can use outside shop to service. From my experience using semi-syn for my 2.0L car, oil & filter change can do for RM200.

If your service/warranty limit is mileage you only need to service 3 times in SC after the freebie expire - at 70K, 80K & 90K km.

If you are going for the high spec model, be warned that 18" tyres are very expensive. You should budget RM750 per tyre.

Jim.Tan who is an SA for Mazda has shared with us that the cost of the M3 special battery is RM400-RM500.

About to pull the trigger and book the low spec sedan soon. Went to test drive but only tested the high spec sedan.

You consider 2500 rpm @100 km/hr too high? I really don't think so. Most cars are around this rpm in top gear at 100 km/hr. The rpm has been designed by the manufacturer to suit its gear ratio, torque and engine output at a certain speed. Nothing to worry about whether it is high or not.

As for fuel consumption the Skyactiv engine is known to very economical from users' reports.

Thinking of getting a mazda 3 ckd low spec sedan later this year. My present salary is about 5k gross and 4.3k nett. Would like to ask whether this is the right car for my income bracket or go for something cheaper... like the honda city, haha. Sifus who have boight the new mazda 3, mind sharing your... income level? If i am still too far below the acceptable range, then i will put off my plans for now and go for the cheaper option.

also, what do you guys think about  used 2011 mazda 6 which are going for about 80k? Advisable to consider?

sorry, Polo sedan only used conventional 6 auto gearbox. the Engine is 1.6 NA. so more to less headache engine.

the other model by VW used DSG, it have dry and wet clutch. this DSG are the one affecting most user, (although some wet clutch mention their are problem-free) but well, some are not. stuck in SC + the VW sc handles those problem is most in-professional way (like taici one). case of missing 100km in exceed over their service will cost them the warranty of their car. WTH
