Not sure that 18" rims have lower fuel consumption. I thought it should be higher because they are heavier.

But the engine noise and vibration during idling is impressively quiet. You don't even know that i-stop has stopped the engine until you let go of the brake and you feel a slight vibration when the engine fires up.

for more city driving.. actually 16" will save more fuel...

does m3 ckd comes with auto lock, ie either by brake/speed? if not, any shop outside that has the auto lock accessory? will it affect warranty?

No, it does not. If you install outside it will probably void warranty for electrical system. My SA quote RM600 to install but I heard it can be done cheaper by going direct to Mazda authorized installer. Any CBU owners can share the location and pricing? I think auto brake lock is a must for security as it is very hard to remember to lock all your doors all the time.

May I know what's the price difference between 16" and 18" tyre?

Why need front parking sensors? I wouldn't pay RM600 for this. If you are going forward you can easily look forward right?

Btw, how much are the new 18" rims and Toyo tyres worth for trade in? I know accessory shops will try to chop but we must have a guide so we don't get chopped too much.

At RM600 I don't think there are many takers. Although I can't really see what sensor can be better than your own eyes.

Hi, After reading the horror stories in LYN Ford Focus and Peugeot forums it is enough to make anybody run screaming back to H or T. Was about to pull the trigger for a Civic but Bermaz has come up with a very tempting offer for this Mazda 3 CKD. But will I regret it? Please answer this worried refugee from the comfort zone of H and T.

1. Any systemic problem with gearbox and transmission? Is the lower armbush problem resolved yet?

2.Is there any major maintenance milestone like 40K or 60K km which will cost a bomb?

3. Do they have enough service centres to attend to your problems without having to make long appointments ahead?

4. Do you have to leave your car for days for any repairs?

5. Are the parts readily available without long waiting time?

6. Are the service centres willing to replace parts under warranty or do they come up with 101 excuses? (Honda, I'm looking at you!)

7. Does the Mazda 3 use a special battery for the i-stop function? If so, how much does the battery cost?

8. Anything else I should be warned about before I pull the trigger in defiance of my wife's advice that I go for a safe Civic? Will I be listening to "I told you so" thereafter?

It seems like many owners of M3 are going to do these:
- Trade in 18" rims&tyres and change to 17" or 16"
- Fixing autobrake lock
- Fixing auto-fold side mirrors when car stop
- Front sensor

Walau! Battery replacement RM1.5K just for the i-stop makes nonsense of fuel saving from i-stop. But fortunately can forget about the i-stop and use normal battery.

Armbush can change in SC under warranty and won't immobilize the car so not a deal breaker.

Normal service RM500-RM600 is rather high as outside price using semi-syn oil should be RM200 - RM250. After warranty sure service outside. Based on 3 years/60K km free service and 3 years/100k km warranty, have to service max of 3 times in SC only.

The "god brand" Toyota have to pay more for less safety features. Already discounted Altis from my shortlist.

The low spec Mazda 3 use 16" rims. So if we downgrade to 16" or 17" Bermaz has no leg to stand on if they say that it will void warranty.

RM2000 for 18" rims + tyres seems very cheap. I presume this is for 4 sets?

well this is the first time planning to get 2.0L car so it will my concern. Hope you can provide some rough figure . Btw what is the service interval , 5k or 10k?

The service interval is 10K km. Free service for parts and labour for 3 years or 60k km whichever comes first. After that some CBU owners say normal service is RM500-RM600 but this is SC price which must use during warranty period. But I am told that even Honda SC charge RM400 for City normal service. After the 3yrs/100K km warranty of course can use outside shop to service. From my experience using semi-syn for my 2.0L car, oil & filter change can do for RM200.

If your service/warranty limit is mileage you only need to service 3 times in SC after the freebie expire - at 70K, 80K & 90K km.

If you are going for the high spec model, be warned that 18" tyres are very expensive. You should budget RM750 per tyre.

Jim.Tan who is an SA for Mazda has shared with us that the cost of the M3 special battery is RM400-RM500.

Wind noise I can believe but to cut down on road noise using rubber lining is totally ineffective. If your wind noise is reduced your road noise will appear louder so it's no point unless you treat the whole car including insulation for door panels, under carriage and boot.

Guys, found out in Paultan's review mentioned the new Mazda3 2.0's rpm is way too high at over 2500rpm @ 100km/hr? But another review from canadianautoreview mentioned it  is less than 2000rpm, before i go test drive to find out, anyone could confirm which is true? Btw, if rpm is this high, i doubt the fuel consumption will be at the higher side, so called the compression ratio 14:1 is not fuel saving afterall?

PLEASE do not buy from the TTDI branch, try your best to stay away from this dealer, they are seriously unethical and unprofessional.

Hi guys, just a reminder so others don't have to go through the same bad experience as my friend. He just had a very rough experience as the salesman Zxx and manager Rxxx in TTDI branch simply provide false information and treat the customer with no respect. My friend doesn't want to bring up the whole thing here, but will submit a complain letter to HQ. Though not sure what HQ will do on dealers. Probably nothing.

I am not a salesman from other branches. But there are so many places that you can go besides TTDI branch. Trust me. They will tell you A today, and B tomorrow, maybe by next week there will be a C version of thing. Just for sharing. Peace!
