oh my. it's that dodgy hamstring isn't it..well we may yet rue the decision not to sign an able back-up striker. just before our big match vs everton, this is pretty awful news.

jackson martinez seemed to be a viable target in the not too distant past, but it would be ludicrous to make a move for him now as his appearance for porto vs lille (got a goal as well, mind you) makes him ineligible for the CL. our woeful planning of homegrown / non-HG players within the squad only compounded the problem and affected our transfer plans too.

so the drog to roll back the years this weekend? doesn't really inspire you with confidence does it? sweat.gif strikerless formation with cesc as the false 9 anyone?

torres? urgh. if it's a strange and highly risky (in case he gets injured) message to milan in a poor attempt to drive up his price maybe, but to help us grab all three points? i don't think he's a viable option. i'd rather we throw bamford / drogba in there.

Thank you torres,we'll never forget your goals vs barca, the europa league and that winner vs everton in the last game of the season which secured 3rd place.

Strangely enough only rafa could get the best of u and it would've been interesting to retain him as your personal goal-scoring coach laugh.gif

All in all,i still think the problem was a psychological one but somehow i don't feel the club ever employed any shrinks/psychologists to dislodge that mental block affecting his game.

Always a hard worker and willing runner so he has my respect for that. came off as a decent and humble lad too, imho smile.gif

all the best at milan, hope you rediscover your killer instincts in the serie A!

P.s: wow..the remy rumours are everywhere.i was calling for us to make a move before the transfer window, and it seems the management smell a good bargain..i wonder what the club docs are going to say though..that heart condition sounds like a deal breaker sweat.gif

QUOTE(hfi @ Aug 30 2014, 01:21 PM)
Pretty sad about how it all turned out for him. Of course as a LFC fan i didn't want him to reach the same heights as he did with us but at the same time it pained me to see how much he has fallen. No one deserves such fate, least of all a polite and respectful person like Torres. He was truly a legendary striker for us, brought us plenty of fine goals and memories. And even after the transfer to Chelsea, he still kept his cool and never really bad mouthed us. Hopefully he finds his form and happiness in Italy.

It's kind of a strange feeling when you realise some of his best goals came against us,clad in pool's red.his attitude and work rate has always been at a high level,in fact i swear he looked a more hardworking player in blue.sadly for him, something just went wrong down the line and maybe, just maybe a change of scenery will help.last season,i'm pretty sure he squared the ball to willian for our second goal because he didn't have the heart to rub it in at anfield.

now all milan need to do is sign benitez laugh.gif

Bony not bad and have my vote.
How about ivan perisic which is Mandzuki in the making.
Winger and as 2nd fw in his club.

Is perisic a pure striker?looked a lot like he stayed on the wings for croatia hmm.gif

It seems loic remy did not even ask to be left out of the squad although he knew we triggered his release clause.in this era of player tantrums and outbursts to force through moves to other clubs,i applaud remy's professionalism.top class attitude, and I'd welcome him with open arms if our club docs don't find anything amiss during the medical.

Offside goal. Lol.

It was a really close call to be honest, looked borderline onside biggrin.gif

Howard should be off with a red.clearly handled outside the box, everton are really lucky to get away with that.

Delightful game of football.just the right amount of heart attack moments, beautiful goals and drama!

Game changing moment for me was courtois' jaw-dropping save from that mirallas back-flick.i thought that was a definite goal, watched the replay and witnessed one of the saves of the season.yes it was his own mistake (poor throw out 2 azpi) which lead to the chance in the first place, but redeemed himself within seconds.

Apart from that i think we looked much more secure when mikel came in and moved to the middle.

Hmm i can't decide which defense is worse, everton's or spurs.' liverpool cutting through them at will, but the movement of their attackers is pretty slick.

Extremely soft penalty given for their second goal though..looked a dive all day long.considering costa was booked after he was scythed down vs leicester, that was a poor decision.

Can't wait for us to lock horns with pool this season smile.gif

Okay, okay i admit i was kind of hoping for the 'destro joins chelsea in last minute deal' headlines,to further add our strength upfront but i guess it's been put on hold for the time being.

Didn't really agree with the van ginkel loan as i feel he adds another option to our pivot, and would've gotten some valuable game time backing up rami or matic.

It's been one hell of a statement of intent though from man utd.it's top four or nothing for van gaal imho, and with the outlay they've spent only the most optimistic of utd fans will expect him to survive if that sole objective isn't achieved. Suddenly they're at a serious threat of suffering another managerial merry go round, and to think it wasn't too long ago that they were one of the epitomes of club stability.

how quickly things can change in football, and i sincerely hope the management finds parallels to utd's present which is related to our 'unstable' but strangely successful (to a certain degree) past, and decide that a coach might not need time to win trophies, but he definitely needs time to build a dynasty.

We've got the trophy winning part almost down to a habit, now the club needs jose to gradually lay a new foundation by bringing through some of our youth if they're good enough.if he does it while maintaining a reasonable amount of success,i don't see why roman wouldn't reward him with long term trust.

Pogba and destro next season.
Mvg were more to non-hg quota issue.
hopefully we are in better position in these issues next seasons.

Hehe didn't know you guys admired pogba that much biggrin.gif .but i kind of got the feeling that the deal was dead in the water when the rumours slowly faded away.gotta admit though, the boy is destined for big things.

Yep MVG was technically the sacrifical lamb, but i hope he makes the best out of his loan spell and gatecrashes the first team next year.

I'm pleasantly surprised about cesc's revelation that our medical staff have helped him get rid of the pain that plagued him for 8 months.those docs have skill smile.gif

Hmm Dj Hazard would actually make quite an awesome name for an artist biggrin.gif

Remy came in at the right time,he'll get many chances and even improve as a striker imo.i find it hilarious that some so called pundits are questioning why he came here if he can't slot straight into the first team.haven't they heard of competition for places in top clubs?obviously they've never played for a top club for the whole of their careers rolleyes.gif

Congrats to baker as well.his hard work is paying off and i think he can bring some different qualities not present in our current first 11.might need to bulk up a bit and be really patient though,as he has a pretty small physique and a fair few players ahead of him.
