if you want a long lasting battery life laptop, the weight will most likely be more than 2kg.. my z5 can last about 4-5 hours with 2.6kg weight..

yes VN7 got no subwoofer - your post already mentioned that.

The other statement is on the wifi card. VN7 had a lousier one, but new Jan stock seems to be coming Intel 7265NGW so should be considered on par with Z5 now

if i need both 3D rendering and photoshop? coz i most probably will need to first render the 3d, then touch up with photoshop.  Plus i saw the suggested system requirement for using Lumion is having at least a GTX 680 graphic card.

1. which parts exactly can be reused from my old Dell? I can't think of others except HDD only. The ram sure not compatible as it's DDR2.

3. regarding the acer, don't really trust its build reliability and quality  had a bad experience in its previous general laptops

yes. thinking of buying the 256gb ssd myself. already ask them they said I will be charged rm50 for asking them to assemble it for me. charge for consignment part as what they've said.      spend 7k already pun still kena   

Either one is fine, since I think you probably know what is the pros and cons of these two laptop. GT72 is using IPS screen right ? I think MSI high end model shouldn't have heat issue, so it is okay to get it.
If warranty and after sales service is essential for you, get MSI better, cause MSI should have service center at Kuching or area around there.
ILLEGEAR so far I just know of Damansara and JB have service center. Their pick up service didn't cover Kuching though.
But you can check out AW17 or 15 also, the price spec ratio is also very tempting. Quite worth it IMO.
Asus is also another option if you can ignore Asus poor warranty and after sales service.

P/S: I assume you're going to be in Kuching longer than in Sunway. If it is not, then ILLEGEAR can consider, 7k can get quite a good config also, PM Prince J for a quotation. Maybe there is still CNY promotion going on
