The information given is not enough, what kind of error you are getting. What version of osx you're trying to install? Etc..

my existing hard drive was dead, then i replace a new hard drive

i had a mac ox X (snow leopard) cd which came together with my mac. I change my new hard drive, when i insert the cd into the cd dirve and start install. It came a folder with question mark and keep flashing there.

@vvlp,
1. insert the DVD.
2. start up the mac, and immediately press n hold down the Option key.
3. Wait for the Mac to read the Installer and start up from there.
4. If not working, come back here and let us know smile.gif

Format can be done with the disk utility once the installler has started.
Ts situation is... Cant even get the installer to begin.

_ is the dvd still good
- have u connected the hdd correctly
- is ur dvd rom good
- more than one hardware can get spoilt at the same time
- it looks as if ur bios is kicking in, but no OS to be detected, check the disk and dvd rom
- try a few times, ur SL disc is old, could be un-readable

Give us clear and exact information. When u are doing it for the first time... Nothing is smooth.

Anyone else have mac near you? Create a usb installer and boot up from the usb. Easy peasy.
