davidke20 need to get your kind advice on this problem for BLM/FL/FLX.

Knocking noises when braking slowly, especially downhill. Proton SC changed a whole new set of drum brakes twice in 3 years. Last changed was last month and the noise came back.

What's the problem? Other than cleaning the brake drums from those brake dusts and replacing new one still the same. Could it be other problem and not the drum brakes?

No la, my gaga sold, friend have this problem and I don't have such problems before. The time when I have knocking at the rear when going on uneven road was confirm absorber problem. That's the only knocking problem I have.

Other than the common morning yiii sound from the brakes....

How much is it? U use a heat gun to remove the headlight cover right? Also what did u use to stick on the cover?

QUOTE(davidke20 @ Aug 25 2014, 05:19 PM)
Like this very hard to say geh. From cheapest to most expansive diagnostic should be brake cylinder jam. Can have muffled knock sound. Then the brake hub. Why change still got sound? I'm sorry to tell you, it's a manufacturer defect. I'd guess atleast 50% of those hub supplied since FLX are defective(not round enough). I have never heard of knocking sound on my Shawie, until I changed to FLX drum. The very 1st moment turun jack, reverse the car out ady kena "kup kup kup" doh.gif Got thought of change another pair of drum geh, but the problem is like 1/2 of those stocks are defective. It's a chance that after change still got sound. 1 drum baru RM49.50 iinm, but I ended up resolved with sent those hubs to machinery chop and mill off 1 layer of those hubs' inner diameter, which cost RM35/pc moneyflies.gif Until today, never heard of those knocking sound anymore icon_idea.gif

Another thing is, could it be possibly caused by front? Please double confirmed during the knocking sound got steering sensation mou? If whilst listening to the "tok tok" sound and your steering also jerk jerk, it could be disc berak rotor hmm.gif
*
Ya, kinda hard to say. But I get the idea of the problem should be most likely the drums but will ask my friend again whether have that steering sensation feel or not.

Disc brake rotor that one I kena before. But that also because my brake pads not worn evenly somehow. After scrape it a bit on the edge then okay. tongue.gif

Thanks bro! thumbup.gif

mine is thicker.. but if you notice.. he is actually install under the hood (not inside the headlamp cover)
and tarak cantik biggrin.gif
it is way too expensive for RM100 per strip, mine is PER Pair !
sum more how much you can trust even they say it is water proof? lol
later i try to look c look c again.
*
Ya, was thinking to even clean the inside of the cover cuz ada air vapor masuk adi in headlamp and have lots of water mark. since going to take out cover to install, might as well clean it nicely then only seal it tight.

QUOTE(baowen @ Aug 26 2014, 02:46 PM)
All the car headlamp was " gum " by a " rubber "
when the rubber was heated, it will be NOT sticky so you can pull it out nicely..
after you finish make-up with the LED strip inside the headlamp cover.
you just need to heat back the " GuM" to make it NOT sticky.
and put it back nicely and wait for the "GUM" to be cool down. once done, it will be SEAL TIGHT TIGHT like virgin..

p/s: please replace the "Gum" and "Rubber" with relevant technical word, i am car n00b don't know about the name.

Bottom Line, you need a good workmanship to do this for you biggrin.gif
There is a reason why those car accessories shop charge RM250~RM350 for workmanship if you opt to open the headlamp cover.
*
Wah banyak mahal. Buy strips at RM100 below then pay workmanship RM250?
Mine the gum or commonly known as sealant, I think not so good already. Cuz 9 years old car. Ur car still new so still can use the same, but if not sealed properly, water will go in.

Some after remove, they will remove the old sealant and apply new one.
