yea i'm using 1s and 1g sometimes quite limiting (free <200mb always).
zf5 battery really that bad? even 1s only able to get me through a day of usage.

reason to get a zenfone 4.5 (ok maybe zenfone4) is to flash roms. Are there lots of roms that I can play with? rooting techniques? kernal support ?

I'm thinking of getting rid of my s2 & n2 which is just in my cupboard for flashing only....

If u intend to flash custom roms, forget zenfone. Go for htc, samseng or lenovo

I have nexus before. also wildfire then s2  then n2    then htc1x  then s4  and now a n3 
hand got itch only

lets hope zenfone gets popular. i'm sure somebody will make roms.
