after 10 days of ownership of zenfone 6. I have encountered 2 major problems on my phone.

First, the screen auto rotation will stop functioning occasionally. Have to restart phone only it will be back to normal. Hardware prob or software bug? I hope it's the latter as it can be solved when the new update is available *fingers crossed*

Secondly, which has caused me severe headache, the phone will shut down itself without any warning. This has happened for about 6 to 7 times in my 10 days of ownership. However, when my phone shut itself down automatically, my fren called me and it can be connected while my phone would not ring nor display anything. Just plain dark (off screen).
Anyone has came across this issue? Any solution available? rclxub.gif

I had same problem - occasionally auto rotation stuck. Needed restart. However, after done manual update, all is gud.
Currently on latest 0715.
Latest 0715 does seems to suck battery a bit compared to prev updates. Not much tho. Gimme a few days and I'll update my Gsam battery readings for a more quantitative diff.

All in all... Zen6 is simply an awesome budget phone. Currently mine have no issue what's so ever.

Zen6 user.
I'm using d auto ON/Off flip cover (non-ori) without experiencing any isu as described. Tis cheap case I bought for only RM35 and function just like ori flip - window icon looks awesome.
So I doubt d flip cover was d caused.
Maybe u could try update firmware, c how.

I don't think this is the answer i'm looking for, or if my original question is misunderstood.
I'm aware of this, and i'm on 3G. The phone has dual sim, but only one sim can have its 3G running, the other will relegate to 2G.
The problem is I want to lock on to 3G signals only, and the phone does not offer that. It will decide automatically to lock to 3G or 2G. I need to have a manual "lock on" that I will not be bothered, even if its only 1 bar, but it will lock on to a 3G signal.

Regarding Asus test using calculator, just key ".12345+=" from calculator pad to access SMMI Test app.
Tis is a very important for all users or atleast to new buyers to test overall system status before paying.
*** TS should have tis info on 1st page..

My Zenfone 5 irght now dead after I turn it off and wont even turn on even I press the On button. Try put it on charger but the LED indicator that shows it charging (the tiny yellow light) didnt shows at all .

Anyone here have a similar problem with me?
*
Possible hardware problem.
Try pressing pwr button for at least 10sec, c if can turn on.
U should also check / clean the charging port for possible lint accumulation.
If able to turn on then straight away test system using Asus SIMI test app @ calculator > .12345+=

may I ask, what kind of Class 10 SD card is good for this? I've been looking at some via IPMART (i live in some god damn ulu place) but i don't think "normal" class 10 cards cut it, especially when I transfer all apps and everything into SD card. (i'm using the 8GB version) and yes, it can get filled up very fast.

Any recommendations?

Questions on external storage - SD cards - seem to go on and on and on...

There is a large amount of confusion about them and the information (and mis-information) that exists is all over the web.

Which one is the fastest? The best? How do I partition and format them? Or, the best for my device?

Add : I'm using SanDisk 32GB class 4. Cheaper and works wonderfully. nod.gif

Obviously @ settings > lock screen.
Got ON/Off toggle there.

To also remove clock weather widget,
at lock screen, tab n hold widget > remove.

i have question...
im using flip cover for my zenfone 6 and i noticed that sometimes the screen just went black (like it turned off)
the only way to make it back is by turning it off and on again

any idea why this is happening?
want to know if this a bug or not
*
No bug.
Mine is functioning without issue since bought.

> Zen6/8GB/Ap/firmware latest WWuser 1.16.40.50 + non ori auto On/Off flip cover.

I noticed got a button like tingy concelled on cover which i believe is a magnet to auto On/Off. Maybe urs isn't positioned correctly causing issues.

Zenfone 6 GPS locking very fast even w/o skyview.
Test done inside house and GPS locked within 6-9 seconds after turning GPS on.

Q.. does Xposed framework compatible to Zenfone.? hmm.gif

Btw.. why I choose Zen6 over Zen5.
I started wif Zen4 and was impressed by its looks and overall performance. So cheap but no slouch definitely. Hey, it got 2 sim slots which later made me put aside my HO M7 and start using Zen4 only. Later I started salivating for PixelMaster Nite mode. drool.gif
Tho earlier I prefer 5in but considering certain issues reported by Zen5 users here especially SOT, so I decided to gamble buy Zen6 instead. No regret after that. Ya, its huge but I'm not tiny either.. so ok lar.

I still believe Zen6 is a better buy compared to Zen5 even if u got small hands. Price wise very marginal.

Zen6 SOT up to 6hrs w/o Pwr Saver activated, screen brightness medium, when I mostly on wifi and browse net for news etc.
On 3G, I get about 5hrs SOT.
I really don't understand why some still complaining regarding it pwr endurance. 5-6hrs SOT not enuff.? hmm.gif

I've tried both method and both seems to work nicely.. Tried xposed only for few days though because I cant get the statusbar to be transparent and Android L statusbar is not working for jellybean  doh.gif . So I decided to go back to ori ZenUI  brows.gif , apart from that I didn't notice any problem. I will try it again after we get Kitkat.  rclxms.gif

Might I remind you that anything you do with your phone is your own responsibility.. haha

Regarding heat & batt life...

All phones will definitely heats up when pushed to its limits.. and shorter batt life.. isn't it a rule of thumb ady? doh.gif

Now, when u say hot, how hot is hot?
To some 40˚C is acceptable and considered as warm. But for me that is Hot ady. Phones with metal body like HO makes it feels warmer than those having plastic ones tho the internal temperature could be otherwise.

For testing batt consumption and monitoring internal temperature, I suggest use GSam Batt monitor (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gsamlabs.bbm).

Must have app.! Must use if u decide to discuss battery life, temperature, or anything related.
