regarding compatibility, yes they say got problem for certain apps..but so far i didn't encounter any problem to install or execute any apps..
each updates optimizes and fix the efficiency with the battery consumption..Asus tried their best to fix it, but best way so far is to invest on a powerbank..

after installing the apps, u can always check the setting>apps>moveable, to transfer large portion of the apps to SD card..except for the pre-installed apps which was already on the phone, every apps can be transferred to SD cards in ZF5..no need to root for that..
idk the benefits in rooting ZF5 other than can uninstall pre-installed apps and change fonts, can ask other sifus for that..if u mean optimizing the phone by tampering with the gpu render and etc, u can always enter the developer mode (tap 5 times in the About if i'm not mistaken)..

backlight as err lights behind the home buttons below the screen? sadly no

haha ask asus for that..how expensive backlights could be..if it's really crucial to u, u can always stick those glow-in-the-dark sticker below the homebuttons...

hmmm..based on what i observed and tested, to give your phone a better chances of survival from falling down and cracked the screen, it's recommended to apply tempered glass + aluminium bumper case..looks and feel friggin solid yo..

i regret trying to install the tempered glass myself..so many bubbles, annd it won't stick anymore in some spots after i wipe a little bit of the sticky surface..waste my RM35 lorhh..Nilkin brand somemore..

at first it was not positioned correctly, so i pull it out again to correct it..second time got some bubbles that have dust in it..so i pull it out again and use the sticky tape to get the dust..some dust stuck on the sticky part of the glass itself..foolishly, i use the sticky tape to get the dust on the glass, which also made the glass less sticky on that part..now have huge bubble on the edges of the glass and some small bubbles in the middle..tried few times again to repair it but can't be fixed anymore, so i just threw it..
what's that?

if anyone ask about the cracks, can tell them it's just a custom-made glass for the phone
