How much would you guys pay to rent a 5D Mark 3 + 24-70 F2.8L for a day/week/month? Planning to start a business of renting camera gears and here to gauge interests and get feedback.

120/Day(actually 1.5 days), 420/Week(7.5 days). Renting a month not practical, rather buy my own gear if 120/Day(actually 1.5 days), 420/Week(7.5 days). Renting a month not practical, rather buy my own gear if have to rent a month.

In Malaysia just not practical. You can't rent cheap cuz you worry gear rosak, we don't want to pay much because we rather buy our own gear. Photo jobs in Msia just not as lucrative because MYR just sucks.

Looks like there's a demand for day/week rental. Got this idea from a discussion with my friend who is looking for camera gears to photograph his brother's wedding but on limited budget.

Thanks for the feedback. smile.gif

Anyone of you doing studio business? How much would you pay to rent it monthly? thumbup.gif

Thanks for the replies all and really sorry for derailing this thread. I just want to get some feedbacks and figure out the details before I post for another feedback gathering session at a dedicated thread. Hope it's ok with you Canon folks! biggrin.gif

wait wait, how do you insure your gears prior to renting out?
*
Of course there will be a security deposit to secure against the rental. Eligible elite customers will not. I'm still finalizing the details.
But I'm really looking into long-term contract with studios (if they're willing).

Camera rental was available in KL before.

You had to pay full sum and daily rate was quite a huge sum, so end up you're paying hundreds just to rent.

Not surprising it didn't work out well because if you were to pay hundreds for rental then you might as well just buy a new lens and sell it off after using, you'll just lose a few hundred that is still far less than the lens rental.

Thanks. Do you have the link to those previous threads? Would love to study the reason of failure.
Based on my mathematics, do you think someone will rent, let's say 5D M3 body for RM 120+ per week?

Renting service,

how much you want your client to deposit haha?
1 5Dmkiii, + 24-70f2.8k ~ RM 10k price

If I rent your camera, I chiow with your cam. lets say reasonable deposit like 10% of the total camera. RM 1k
I chiow with your cam still I client untung, i can sell it to the market........

I very interest in loaning cam, like let say 6D mkii out i will want to borrow
*
Thanks for the feedback. Still figuring on the deposit but I'm really into getting camera to rent out at affordable rates. Will come out better figure once I have it finalized. Just here to gauge the sentiment and perform an interest check. smile.gif

Thanks all rclxms.gif

RM 120 per week so cheap? smile.gif That'll be good rate.

Other countries have this http://www.lensrentals.com/

In Malaysia people are just afraid of crooks. I think if you were to do lens rental then focus on professionals.

They will have to be registered with ROC before they can rent from you. Must take their IC particular and sign agreement.

That'll be great.

Thanks for the information. thumbup.gif

While browsing through the sales thread at LYN, I noticed that many are selling Canon products (even Nikon) with unregistered or unfilled warranty card. Does it even work - say I buy the used item, register them at Canon website and get a brand new item's warranty terms?

do you think the warranty is just based on the paper ? manufacture will have tracking on their 'batches'...unfill warranty is simply a used market gimmick in malaysia..UNLESS original purchase receipt or online warranty register information is given
*
So when I want to claim warranty for these items, I have to show the original receipt as well?
