but then ..wont it block the intake for the cpu fan?...then the air that go into the cpu heatsink will be the hot air that release from the vga cooler..

Wouldnt that be too big?I guess the mounting should be steady and strong enough just to hold onto this. And with the amount of work going to be done, i guess getting an already proven good chipset cooler is better..

agreed..but take note of the heatpipe,it might be block by the caps around nb chipset as the heatpipe is longer

So, after 37 pages of discussion sweat.gif, what is the best chipset cooler?

Planning to get one which can fit the chipset lying just below the GC. doh.gif

try to get hr-05 sli then. dunno whether it is the best, but imo hr-05 sli is the best solution if u have problem of chipset too close to gc. like my dfi expert.. sad.gif

The best would be Noctua NC-U6, but then, Noctua NC-U6 won't fit on your motherboard chipset since the chipset is right under the graphic card.

The best for your motherboard would be HR-05 SLi. smile.gif

Well, i have the Noctua on my DFI CFX3200 but having trouble with it as well even though its not near the GC. Even the 7600GS is having a hard time being installed without clashing with the Noctua due to the large GC HSF. With a new GC in mind, i guess sooner or later it will not fit to the slot due to the Noctua. Therefore, i think i will change my chipset cooler, this time, to the HR-05SLi i am going to get. Will shift the Noctua to the southbridge and compare both of them when i have the time..

Good HSF never come at a cheap price. Look at the price of all good chipset cooler like Noctua, TR, JingTing etc. All come at a hefty price tag but the important thing is that, they perform..

You can use a 70mm fan to be fitted on the NC-U6.
But, becareful on one thing.

You must find a 70mm fan that is very low in speed & very low in vibration AKA uses ball bearing.

This is because NC-U6 doesn't work well with high speed fan.
I've tried with three 70mm fan before, and what i found is, when i'm using low speed 70mm fan with ball bearing, that fan gives me the lowest temps compared to another two fans which is high in speed and another one is not using ball bearing.

"Copper bottom" design. I heard that this NB heat sink will be sell
independently...
He stated that the DFI N680i NB might be sold seperately from the package. In that case, do you guys feel this MB can compete with the likes of Noctua and TR?I like the way they incorporate fins at the bottom which is useful in dissapating heat. And i like the design as well..With copper bottom and clips for additional fans.

I know about that heatsink.
But the thing about it will be sold separately is almost impossible.

How much will it be?
I bet the price will be much much higher than an NC-U6 or HR-05 SLi.

When will DFI Start selling it then?
You know how slow DFI in everything that they do. shakehead.gif

I don't think you should judge heatsink performance from just the looks. As always, comparison reviews are the standard.... biggrin.gif
