there is nissin or yn, or sunpak, or many other 3rd party. compatible or not, whatever they market... only 1 brand can be trusted, that is Metz (because metz prices nearly same as Sony own flash). other 3rd party no matter how much they market how good they are, they are still a 3rd grade system... they will never preform as good as the real one. Sony Flash is not expensive at all compare Canon, Nikon or Pentax's own flash, they all range 1.8k for the flagship...

anyway, primary workhorse flash always get Sony. 99% senior here will tell u, get Sony own flash. if 2nd,3rd slave unit, u can get those cheap rm200 flash just to fire them as slave.

but some other 3rd party owner will tell u otherwise, that 3rd party is as good la, this la, that la... better u go ask those who uses 3rd party then jump to sony flash, they will tell better story.

I had made a decision to buy A6000 in september (waiting price drop a little first), but then Sony launch A5100, really mess me up doh.gif

A5100 pro :
1. 180" articulated screen for selfie
2. TOUCHSCREEN !!! (very important)
3. slightly cheaper at 700 usd (not important)

Con:
1. no EVF
2. slightly slower FPS (not really important)
3. smaller size

Why damn SONY always launching more camera body than lens ?!
*
A6k vs A5100
Evf, when need time if don't have, will regret
Hotshoe, when need time if don't have, will regret.
Touch screen? Fun for first 3 month, after that never border coz can't use during the phase detect mode af-c + multiaf. Turn the wheel dail scroll faster in review mode the touch scroll.
Selfie lcd? Settle with NFC remote app.

Others consider not that influenced to purchase decision.

Hope my info help you make up your mind kekekeke

Not sure with your previous owned lens, if u plan to stick with A mount, a77 II is just nice timing.

But if your prefer to jump to smaller compact mirrorless group, (your a200 lens will not mount directly, require an adapter) then the best all rounded for money now is the a6000 for around 2.3k with kitlens. The extra money can go for lens like 50mm or a 35mm

guys, the talk about FE vs E is the same with Sony DT vs FF. its a pointless argument because everyone has their point of view and noone is wrong. they can use any range and design as their please because its their money and their style of photography. nothing wrong.

it is true due to limitation due to the short flange range(clearance), it is very difficult to make a lens that is wide open, to be small, and yet retain all sharpness. hence you will end up with very aperture limited lens. (dont start comparing fuji or leica, its a non stop argument)... but on smaller apcs sensor, the possibility is more, and its cheaper choice to go if one plan to grab many lens to enjoy.

btw anyone else going to the Sony Super Workshop? i gathered a few people into a small whatsapp group, its good to get to know each other before the trip then we wont feel too stranger at the workshop.

IwanAGP: I've seen your name here many times. Honestly, you think too much and over researched and procastinate soon become your habit(sometimes it's a good habit, can save money). Camera get replace often (don't think a6000 will be replace any soon also) and it's never ending cycle... U never get the best as the best will come out the next day.... This symptom happens to all new buyer, even myself, when trying our best to make sure our hard-earned money are well invested.

Clear your mind and think simple.... How to make a choice for your camera? How often do you shoot with your handphone? This may very well define how 'crazy' are you with photos.
If you hardly make effort for photo.. food, scenery, as well and pc fair girls with your mobilephone... You are better off with rx100...
Otherwise grab A6000 with kitlens. Don't worry bout the comparison with old kitlens, it's just a hair diff in (in my opinion) don't even worry about future lens prices... If u gotten poisoned enough, rm4k lens also u can afford out of the blue...

The reasoning for my advise is just afraid after 3 month u get a a6000, if you are not crazy for photo and end up reason like 'no time for photography' the a6000 will end up in cupboard growing fungus(happens to Many many people already). So hence advise grab the rx100 for less burden.

Have enough to pack it now. But want keep spare money in case of emergency.

Still hoping for a 35 or 50 f1.8 lens. But it's really expensive la. More than half the price of A6000 kit. Let's see if there's any good deals in any of the IT fairs here. Few weeks ago got one fair, Olympus giving extra prime lens that costs over 500SGD on top of kit lens(es) with freebies like dual 32GB card. Samsung on the other hand included free tablet with purchase of their camera. If can get A6000 with some similar offer it's really nice :p

So fast want persuade ppl buy flash d? Engine haven't order at all, even engine model not decided yet now already recommending me to supercharge my engine :x :D

From my point of view... When a product can sell, it's difficult to have promo..... When product can't sell, or end of shelf life, the company will put in everything just to get rid of it. Even buying a7 free rx100 during klpf last week... Freebie sound good, but don't be tempted by the wrong thing and make impulse buying.

my customer just sent his nissin i40 to dealer for claim warranty. what he said, it sometimes not even wireless sync even attempt to work as wireless slave

my friend claims his too, not sure is his A6k or the flash problem, it only fires full power in TTL mode. works fine on my a99. and my F43, F60 works fine on his A6k.

i guess afterall... its a Nissin... QC never improve.

please dont speculate wrong info, please use uncle google before simply speculate information.

1) Sony only invested 50billion Yen (around 640m USD that time) into olympus restructuring, which is merely 11% stake share. Sony is still the smallest investor in olympus, but gaining advantage to seal deals like olympus now are using Sony Sensors.
2) during yesterday morning announcement, Sony stated its a full sony design, without any help from other (point at olympus)
3) Sony has been doing this 5 axis for sometime, just that, the acquisition of Olympus share helped then prevent lawsuit.
4) if you read the launching notes, the 5 axis is more advance then oylmpus system, it can hybrid uses with OSS lenses. not to mention supporting the bigger sensor vs m43.

side note, having share in olympus allows sony to open their books (blue prints) how much sony refer their 5axis we do not know, but sure is olympus did not collaborate with sony to design this 5 axis.
