Hi all. Got a new update 18.0 for the Mi3. Previous version was 14.0

Question: If i OTA to 18.0 and face issue, how can i revert back to 14.0? If yes then how to do this?

Notice the new update is for listed under Philipines in the MIUI download section.

Any possibility we might be getting incorrect update because i see the previous update not in the same download section.

Hi,

I can confirm that the latest update makes my touch screen less sensitive. I've restored to the previous stable ROM and my touch screen works fine now.

Perhaps TS can update the first page on the common problems that some users faced after the upgrade? Just a suggestion.
*
Yes please also provide steps on how to revert to previous stable ROM.

Does the Mi3 keep the previous rom in the storage or automatically delete once another update is applied?

So the new update? What is general consensus? Update or wait 2 weeks first.

Some say ok, some not ok.

Only constant is that Maxis users seems to have more issues then others.

I took a chance and updated it to the latest version aka 18.0

So far not facing any of the issues mentioned earlier.

Did get that message about the SIM Lock and need to request for PIN. I request and got an error that the message key not valid from SAP Malaysia Sdn Bhd. ???

But after that no more error. Even after power down and up and even reboot. No such message appeared. Will try a few more times later today.

Also got a 10 second scare when i try to make a call and the line really drop and show x. But reconnected almost immediately and test again. No disconnection after 10 tries with combination of calling and receiving call.

Apart from that GPS also working ok from what i can test using Google Maps. Took about 15-20 seconds to connect indoors. Will test this more later as well.

After the 18.0 update i notice 2 things.

1. 3G Internet performance increase and can feel it is faster.
2. Incoming call, the volume even at the lowest setting is really loud.

After my upgrading to KXDMIBE18.0, I notice a big drop in my available storage space. Does it mean that KXDMIBE18.0 did not replace the previous version files ?

Check your Explorer and see the downloaded_rom folder. You should see the older ROM in there which you can delete if you dun want it.

Also if during update, you perform backup will also take up quite a bit of space.

Nope

After ugrade to kitkat 4.4.2, i don't find any problem but many improvements

1.) Camera getting better in low light & no more auto focus problem.
2.) Battery perform even better than already good during JB.
3.) Never experienced drop call, Data connecting also very stable.
4.) The phone doesn't heat up like it used to be after prolonged usage.
5.) Phone call volume is louder.

In fact 4 days after upgrades i find zero defects & all goodies.  thumbup.gif

Same here after i upgrade to 4.4.2

Only had 2 instantance where the signal just poof to x and had to restart to get 3G back. Not losing signal with every call made or received like reported. This is with Wifi on or 3G enabled.

Phone call volume is way louder now. Even at the lowest setting i find it quite loud.

Not sure if this matters but my SIM is a Mini Sim. Not the Micro SIM or Nano SIM.

I am also using mini sim, quite an old mini sim actually, wonder could that be the reason.  hmm.gif

Might make an interesting poll. See if those having frequent signal lost to zero were on the MicroSIM aka used on the iPhone4 or the NanoSIM aka used on the iPhone5.

Anyone can point me to stock Google keyboard? It does not come with the Malaysia 4.3 ROM
*
This one easy to do. Seems u cannot find the Google Keyboard in the Playstore on your phone after flashing.

U reverse the process, login to Playstore on your PC browser and search for Google Keyboard and push it your phone instead.

Today after 1 week on using the new V18 rom, dun know what happen suddenly signal drop suddenly for no reason. I thought i was lucky to escape but looks like it is like a virus and also kena.

So no choice lah. Downgrade to V14 rom instead.

Hope they fix it soon. I like the V18 rom, phone not so hot, memory management better and battery optimization also better then V14 rom.

Look for andreakua2 post on page 72 for the steps.

Is there any fast bootable version of Malaysian WCDMA rom ?
*
No not directly. U still need to use the FastBoot rom from China and update to Malaysia RoM.

Try searching on Google for using keyword Google Keyboard. You see the link below:

If search thru Playstore will say this app not available in your country.

But if use a normal PC and browse to Playstore u can find it and push the app into your phone.

After i flash back to V14 i also got this issue and only had Google Pin Yin input method.

may i know if anyone has solution to solve the intermittent dropped calls for maxis user of mi3?

You have to revert back to V14 Rom. Look for post 1426 on page 72 by andreakua2.

Steps are there.

I think after the epic fail of V18, i will wait a couple of weeks before updating to V22.

Anyone on Maxis updated to V22 and facing any signal lost?
