I guess sometimes it depends on luck. Some got problem, some are not. In order to get a piece of mind, my suggestion is to stick to the stock rom, ignore those updates. Stock rom would be enough for your daily use. I know it sounds silly to not to upgrade the firmware, but at least it saves you from the trouble of getting those bad results. Of course, the downside is you will not be able to enjoy the new features.

yeah, the guide mention that it's root guide for JB & KK stable rom.. no sign of version mentioned there..

always keep stock bro, never flash nightly build rom. fr my dad use not me problem is, this stable stock rom OTA push u their stable update also got problem and i can't guaranteed my dad not to accidentally press the update button when the update push appear in the notification bar. lol

What problems ?? I upgrade from V14 to V18 now V22 also didn't face any serious problems, those so call problem maybe for me is not serious problem & can be easily solve by some walk around method, Who says Samsung & Sony no problem, I know many also got hell of of problem after upgrading firmware in their Samsung & Sony including some very serious problem cannot be solved like battery drain & constant hang, my current Samsung Mega 6.3 KK update been halted as too much problem after KK update in some country, some Samsung model I get never get update still run on JB 4.2.1 since launch, My friend Sony also had lots of problem after update.

At lease Xiaomi give 3 major update after less than 3 months ownership, many Samsung model at similar or doubled the price also never get a single update since launched a year ago.

I noticed that too when I try to plug in MiKey to try out in Samsung phone, but that was on 2 previous version MiKey Apps, not sure latest apps able to solved it, then again I don't intend to use MiKey on Samsung as main reason I use MiKey is to avoid premature wear off power button in Xiaomi phone which doesn't come with physical home button, Since Samsung has it, no point installing MiKey.

Already tried Cm11 alpha version on my mi3.
I really like the buttery smoothness of cm and the stock android look.
As expected in alpha stage, there are still bugs around, camera, gallery, and accelerator not working.
Battery life is still not optimized.
Already reverted back to miui.
But overall cm11 is a great potential rom for mi3. Hope a stable release of cm11 will come out soon and I would really prefer cm over miui anytime as my daily driver.

Well bro, if that's the case, there's a "hardcore" way to disable the OTA function, which is, delete the update apk. But you will need to root the phone first. Just a little suggestion.

As you should well aware that, xiaomi is doing a very different approach on their after sales service, not like the rest, ur phone got anything u can throw back direct to the retailer u purchased from.

positive view, yes 3 majors update woow. superb!
negative view, oh no... 2 majors updates (+1 is JB to KK update) within 3 months and these were major bug fixes.

idk, i think xiaomi is the only company offer monthly stable updates (correct me if i'm wrong). their nightly (dev rom) is weekly basis. still, if updates are bug fixes with no issues... it is always a welcome.

yes, CM11 is very smooth. i'm using 1+1 now... extremely customisable. but at times, i experiencing short lag when intensive graphics running. and i don't experience this with my m8, despite m8 is lacking 1GB RAM.

Hi guys, i quite not understand the instruction on how to root eventhough I've read several rooting guide thread. from the first page rooting guide,

"For the ROOT, we need to have:
1. The stable firmware (Mi3-WCDMA/CDMA or Mi3-WCDMA HK) installed in the 1st system of the smartphone. "

Question; Am I need to download and flash firmware Mi3-WCDMA/CDMA or Mi3-WCDMA HK first before continue with the step below?

Steps to get the ROOT:
1. Download the first script (1_MI3_WCDMA_stable_root.zip) on the phone, rename it to update.zip, place it in the root of the card.
2. Load in mi-recovery and flash it as normal firmware in the 1st partition without wipe, it takes 10-30 seconds.
3. Load in the first system.
4. Goin into the program and Permissions include ROOT.
5. Profit!

what i want is, i just want to have root permission, and keep stable build v22. it is possible? I root xperia neo & n7000 before, but i dont understand mi3 rooting guide

No such thing as bug free firmware lah, my Samsung also hang sometime, in fact I can says at lease once every 2-3 weeks, just reboot loh, another Samsung GPS sometimes OK some times not, still in JB after 1 year, my friend S3 & S4 also got complaints.

Last time got 1 Samsung kena bricks, bought from dealer at Lowyat plaza, go back to them, they ask me walk upstairs to Samsung service centre faster... hahahha

If you get Samsung at RM 769, u can MMT for firmware update,, flagship at 2K+ during launch maybe got update lah.. my S3 mini cost 900+ JB 4.2.1 till now never get update.

For those who is on stable V14 or V18, I think OTA update is available already, I tap system folder - updater -menu - view available update, it show V22.

After update to v22 it says "can't activate SIM card". Then I retry to verify and it it says "mi cloud framework would like to send a message to 33488".

So I press "send" but it return error "sorry this service is not available".

So my sim still can't activate status.

Anyone hv this problem and how to fix it?

1st i also found some bugs like unable to connect play store under wifi.. after update the rom always reboot ur phone couple of times..
