I got a question...
At almost the end of the movie, when Megatron died, Prime called him, "Brother."
I could've mistaken though... But in the cartoons, were Prime and Megatron once comrades?
It said in the beginning of the movie, allspark is the creation of cyberton where transformers were born. So they were once brothers, but went seperate ways. Just like Unicron and Prime(not OP) in the Transformers Book.

Lord of the rings have many actors too, but you can still see personallity. a "general movie" is an excuse. if spider-man were not made with his original custome, will it be succesfull? wonder why spider-man 3 wasn't much of a success? because they screw a few things. wonder why x-men 3 was a failure? because they screw a few things. if it wasn't based on the cartoon/tittle, why the heck was "optimus prime" in it? serious, it's an excuse that has been used by many directors before. no such thing as "general movie".

wonder why when a film that has succesfully adapt from its original title, "general movie" was never mentioned?
well it's a bit a early to give the "movie of the year" title isn't? IIRC, ghost rider was anticipated as "movie of the year" too. now what happened? they're giving away tittle for free? wonder why ghost rider fails? because they screw a few things and say it's a "general movie".
alternators are more well designed and realistic man. heck it's even in scale. movie line is realistic? please, all i see in the transformation sequence was cheating effects. honestly, it was hasbro that saved the movie. m.bay didn't even want the robots to have dialogue. mr bay would've screwed the movie over if he didn't consult with hasbro. sure the toys looks great, but the movie model is not the same as the toy model is it now?
You are just being unreasonable here with your excuses about how bad the movie is. OP itself is TF. If there is NO OP there is NO TF. It is as simple as that. When I said the movie wasn't based on the cartoons, it is not about the characters, it is about the whole plot and storyline. Well, M Bay said it was a general audiences movie and heck looking at all the reviews, you are in the minority with all those skeptical critics. Majority of the ppl really like this movie.
Well, did I give it a movie of the year? When ppl said it was a movie of year it's because they have seen it and love it. Ghost rider was ANTICIPATED to be, you understand the word, don't you.
The transformation wasn't perfect but it was as good as it gets with the kind of detailed that the ppl put into the movie. If you think there are better ppl out there, why don't you send those contacts to Dreamworks. Of course Hasbro consulted M Bay, it is TF for god sake. Wouldn't Stan Lee be the consultant to the spideys and x-men?

did i actually say i hate the movie? no. it's a good movie(with the effects), yes. but it could've better. when you make a movie based on something, shouldn't there be resemblance? what if LotR did'nt actually follow the original book? would people like it? i think not. sure, story line should change, characters may differs a bit, but the main concept must be intact.
yes, i'd rather see the old models any day instead of the new ones(most hardcore fans would like that). heck, i'd take alternator series. face it!!, most fans were let down when the 1st movie model appeared. i was half expecting it would look like alternators(more realistic tranformation). now most are quite impress, but mostly by the effects. including me. but effects alone does not make a great movie adaptation.
an "excuse" when a movie not having much resemblance to the original title.
so yeah, it's a good movie. however, it's neither a looser nor a winner.
Wasn't there any resemblance of the characters or the main concept? Autobot and Decepticons, with all the main characters in it? Spiderman came out so long ago, you expect the movie to be shot in the 60s? Where spidey would still be wearing 60s style clothing? Those designs IMO blend in just perfectly with the movie, the effects and the plot.
As you have said, most fans hated the design, but look what happen now. Most fans actually agree those designs look so much better in the movie. By putting old design in an actual movie would have severe effect, 1 word. GAY!
