Almost every TF fan out there hated the design when it was first released, but as michael bay puts it, it's a general audience movie that he made, not a fan based movie...the transformation weren't perfect, but it is close enough.

OP has a mouth because it make him look more human and realistic, he does have his mouth piece in battlemode if you read bay's interviews.

OP didnt rescue bumblee because he said at first, no sacrifice no victory. He made it very clear in the movie that they were NOT to harm humans. As a leader, the mission is paramount, even if it means sacrificing individual soldiers. If you paid enough attention, the movie says, "no sacrifice, no victory."

Well the movie lasted for more than 2hr and 40 mins, some of you said is long, some said is short, the movie wasnt based on only 2 characters, you get to see more of OP and bumblebee is because OP is the main cast of TF, bumblebee gets to stick with sam, that's why you see him more. I strongly agree that they filmed and animated more footage than they showed, but cut them to avoid the movie being too long. Well, that's what the DVD extended version are for.

OP called megatron brother because in the movie, all of them were created by allspark, so they are brothers. If you read the comics prequel, it did explain a lil bit. Not those bloody quintessons as in the G1 cartoons.

Brawl was originally in the movie, but Hasbro screwed up, so they use Devastator instead. And Barricade was suppose to meet his end in the highway, that's why OP came in late to the city. I suppose it's going to be in the extended scenes.

In general most ppl are actually praising this movie, as a die-hard TF fan, i wasn't expecting too much and skeptical before the movie came out, now i firmly believe the movie is in good hands.

Well if you notice earlier in the movie when they were trying to take out scorponok, they notice that he became weaker after being hit sabot missiles or rounds, that dude who took out blackout actually ordered them to load sabot rounds

IMO, why jazz died is still a mystery, in the TFTM 86', Ironhide and OP died but they survived in this movie, while Megatron became Galvatron, he too died in this movie. While Starscream also died, he escapes and run away, typical SS. He actually did a bit more if you notice. When Megatron appeared in the city and all the humans were fleeing from him, it was Jazz who came to defend the humans and take him on single handedly. Jazz dies saving humans from Megatron, truly heroic stuff.

Put it this way, OP has always been weaker than megatron though. That's why the autobots work together where the decepticons don't seem to be team players. In movies or comics, it's typical to make the villain stronger than the hero, evil better than good, in order to provide the hero with a challenge, if not the movie/comic will be super boring if the hero wins everytime.

No that's not true. In the original transformers series, there were plenty of times OP kicked megatron's arse and even in the movie, Optimus still did whoop megatron pretty good until hot rod interfered. But in this film, it's at the director's discretion but as a fan, would have hoped to see a better fight. The battle was way too short between the two powerhouses of transformers.

Hot Rod becomes the next leader after being supersized by the matrix in the cartoon movie, but near the end of the transformers run, the matrix is relinquished back to a revived Optimus Prime.
*
If you finish may finish my sentence, it's typical to make the villain stronger than the hero, evil better than good, in order to provide the hero with a challenge. Would you see the movie if the good can easily defeat the evil?

I admit the battle was short but it was fast and furious and effective. Remember these are robots, each missiles and melee attack really hurt each other.

i know, but 1 round? scorponok took heaps from a gunship to weaken him. i know its not ment to be realistic but meh, its like an anticlimax you know. you just go wtf.

Jazz dies  cry.gif  cry.gif  cry.gif  cry.gif  sad.gif  sad.gif

Yeah that dude got lucky with Blackout, he spotted his weak spot, that was where he put his sabot, into his heart.

realistic?? dis is a sci-fi movie, what is realistic????  sweat.gif
FYI, after da movie, da TOYS is da 1 going to steal da lime light!!!actually, even bfore da movie...
well, wut about the time when sam was taken by sector 7 agents? dint prime came n crush the suv...or isit prime tought coz suv, those ppl wont b hurt?
da trailer, can alwiz b in stall position, or even warp in2 portal, or etc...but wait, i forgot, its a freaking real realistic movie...hmmm....i'm goning to da yard now...see if i can see n autobot logo on the sky!!!
again the logo was a jk..go get sum sence of humor!!  doh.gif

Mate, you are taking the word realistic to be realistic. To be realistic in a movie is not as realistic in real life. If you remember in spidey where his face was recognise yet no one disclose his identity in order to protect him, would that really happen in real life?

FYI, the toys was always going to steal the limelight because TF was made popular by the toys! The movie was a long awaited dream come true because the fans wanted to see a real transforming robot. Ask every single TF fan out there and they would tell you the same.

You are just being sarcastic about the trailer. Any fans would love to see the trailer but it just wouldn't look real. Put the trailer in a warp??? Asking superman to put his clothes in a telephone booth after changing??

Did I not say the logo wasn't a joke? It was a G1 thingy if you only could understand transformers more before voicing out any dissatisfaction with your sense of humour.

Maybe u listen to the math core version...

And for TF2, stplease no more kid saving the world agn..focus more on the decepticon and their ruggles within the them and bring back hot rod and Jazz..

also, beef up the storyline, the old Transformers movie has a better stroryline than this (abit a little cheesy one liners)
*
If you watch the TFTM animation again, the storyline was terribly wrong in a way or two. Ask any TF fans they would tell you it's not right. How the hell in the world HotRod knew Ultra Magnus is in the planet junkion after being rescued in quintessons? And how did Kup and Ultra Magnus got their body parts reassemble so easilly and not Jazz in the real movie. There wasnt many one liners in the old, I believe they were more in the new one.

THe storyline for the movie was good but not perfect, nothing is perfect. As I have said many times before, this movie is made for the general public who have no knowledge of TFs, is not a toy movie! M Bay said this a million times.

Not only did Sam save the world, defeated Megatron, but in the words of Optimus Prime, "I owe you my life." I mean...WTF???? Prime gets his ass whooped, kid saves the day, make out on top of bumblebee and his parents get an interview with Mojo posing for the camera...great...just great....
*
I admit the ending was abit dodgy but overall the movie was excellent. Most of the time, ppl are ranting over trivial matters. I prefer the kid killed megatron rather putting the allspark into OP and that would be the end for TF. No OP no TF, it is as simple as that. It was intended to be an open ending so that there could be more sequels, the best part was OP sending the message to all other autobots out there and SS escaping.

Dont you get it? Sam want to sell his great grandpa eye glasses ..that why he advertise on Ebay ..

Well most of the TF fans out there think it is actually a tribute to Ebay. Why? Because most of the TFs we get out there are from Ebay itself. Esp G1 stuffs.

What fighting scene?
80% of the movie was a "discovery" period.
Then 20% was fast forwarding like hell after S7 showed up.
The fighting scenes also dunno who is who.
Can't tell Megatron/Starscream apart in robot form.
It could have been alot worst but it could have been alot better, it should have been a longer movie to clear up some gaps.
*
Do you expect an all action packed movie to 80% fighting? Would you expect any storyline from that kind of movie then? It's better to watch a kick boxing match then, 90% of it is fighting, if that is what you want. The movie needs abit of story telling because non TF fans wouldn't understand what's happening if there isn't any.

S7 was made up just for the movie, there wasn't any fast forwarding, there alot of scenes that got cut off due to time constraint. Look for it in the DVDs.

You didn't know about who is who because you didn't paid enough attention, it clearly pointed whom is whom in the movie with the subtitles. And certainly you didn't know about TF much then.

Megatron and SS are 2 different characters. Easily recognisable because SS is a F22 while Megatron is an alien aircraft.

IMO they didn't show too much of Jazz because M Bay didn't wanted the audience to get too attached to his character and you would leave ppl complaining and crying. Now only TF fans out there are ranting, remember he said this is NOT a toy film, it is a film made for the general audiences.

Again, there wasn't Soundwave as there wasn't Wheeljack. Soundwave is going to come out in the sequel.

i agree mostly with what you said. the robot didn't have enough personallity too. the "discovery" is expected since it's the 1st movie. it's not a complete looser, but not a winner either.

i stand with what i said, "the movie was only saved by the special effect galore". it's good, but definately not movie of the year material. i'd give it "best special effect" movie. people who says it's "movie of the year" probably has never watch a good movie before.

ps: the designs are not up to standard. the action was so fast that you can't see who's who. that's what i meant by "personality". heck, i'd rather they just use the alternator line of the toys. it's much cleaner and well made. you can see that the transformation is mostly inaccurate. just see how bumblebee transforms a few time, you'll notice it's always different.
*
The robots didn't have enough on screen time or personality is because there are so many of them, and it's hard to focus on all of them instead of the story. The story was based on allspark and the consequences of it. OP and Megatron is always the main cast of TF, Bumblebee had more on screen because he was attached to Sam, who is the main cast of the movie. This is a general movie not based on the animations and certainly not a toy figure movie.

The CGI was definitely a top drawer, a new software specially written for it at the Industrial of Light and Magic. People who said it's the movie of year because they like not because they haven't seen anything better.

When the 1st designs came out, every TF fans in the world were screaming at M Bay and his design crew, esp Hasbro. Heck, it was awesome when it got integrated with the movie and story. The alternator line is a toy figure collection and if you do collect the movie line collection, you will notice the transformation is so much harder than alternators because it is more realistic.

I got a question...

At almost the end of the movie, when Megatron died, Prime called him, "Brother."

I could've mistaken though... But in the cartoons, were Prime and Megatron once comrades?
*
It said in the beginning of the movie, allspark is the creation of cyberton where transformers were born. So they were once brothers, but went seperate ways. Just like Unicron and Prime(not OP) in the Transformers Book.

Lord of the rings have many actors too, but you can still see personallity. a "general movie" is an excuse. if spider-man were not made with his original custome, will it be succesfull? wonder why spider-man 3 wasn't much of a success? because they screw a few things. wonder why x-men 3 was a failure? because they screw a few things. if it wasn't based on the cartoon/tittle, why the heck was "optimus prime" in it? serious, it's an excuse that has been used by many directors before. no such thing as "general movie".  doh.gif wonder why when a film that has succesfully adapt from its original title, "general movie" was never mentioned?
well it's a bit a early to give  the "movie of the year" title isn't? IIRC, ghost rider was anticipated as "movie of the year" too. now what happened? they're giving away tittle for free? wonder why ghost rider fails? because they screw a few things and say it's a "general movie".
alternators are more well designed and realistic man. heck it's even in scale. movie line is realistic? please, all i see in the transformation sequence was cheating effects. honestly, it was hasbro that saved the movie. m.bay didn't even want the robots to have dialogue. mr bay would've screwed the movie over if he didn't consult with hasbro. sure the toys looks great, but the movie model is not the same as the toy model is it now?
*
You are just being unreasonable here with your excuses about how bad the movie is. OP itself is TF. If there is NO OP there is NO TF. It is as simple as that. When I said the movie wasn't based on the cartoons, it is not about the characters, it is about the whole plot and storyline. Well, M Bay said it was a general audiences movie and heck looking at all the reviews, you are in the minority with all those skeptical critics. Majority of the ppl really like this movie.

Well, did I give it a movie of the year? When ppl said it was a movie of year it's because they have seen it and love it. Ghost rider was ANTICIPATED to be, you understand the word, don't you.

The transformation wasn't perfect but it was as good as it gets with the kind of detailed that the ppl put into the movie. If you think there are better ppl out there, why don't you send those contacts to Dreamworks. Of course Hasbro consulted M Bay, it is TF for god sake. Wouldn't Stan Lee be the consultant to the spideys and x-men?

did i actually say i hate the movie? no. it's a good movie(with the effects), yes. but it could've better. when you make a movie based on something, shouldn't there be resemblance? what if LotR did'nt actually follow the original book? would people like it? i think not. sure, story line should change, characters may differs a bit, but the main concept must be intact.

yes, i'd rather see the old models any day instead of the new ones(most hardcore fans would like that). heck, i'd take alternator series. face it!!, most fans were let down when the 1st movie model appeared. i was half expecting it would look like alternators(more realistic tranformation). now most are quite impress, but mostly by the effects. including me. but effects alone does not make a great movie adaptation.

an "excuse" when a movie not having much resemblance to the original title.

so yeah, it's a good movie. however,  it's neither a looser nor a winner.
*
Wasn't there any resemblance of the characters or the main concept? Autobot and Decepticons, with all the main characters in it? Spiderman came out so long ago, you expect the movie to be shot in the 60s? Where spidey would still be wearing 60s style clothing? Those designs IMO blend in just perfectly with the movie, the effects and the plot.

As you have said, most fans hated the design, but look what happen now. Most fans actually agree those designs look so much better in the movie. By putting old design in an actual movie would have severe effect, 1 word. GAY!

i think you're the one who didn't understand what i'm saying. did i say the movie was bad? please re-read all my post in this thread. i didn't even say they should use the old design.

me=voicing opinion
you=forcing your opinion on people.

i'm busy with work to argue too much. thanks.

Well you didn't said it was good either and was just too skeptical in your comments about how bad the movie is. If you think the movie wasn't too suitable to your liking. Tough luck. Did I force my opinion on people, think not. I was being constructive in my arguments and you did not seem to take it well.

I read your review and wish to point out the fact about Barricade. In the leaked script, Barricade and Bonecrusher double team on OP and both of them lost, that's why OP arrived considerably late in the city to help the others. The scene wasn't shown because of time constraint and another bright marketing idea to have it in the DVD. Bumblebee certainly did not kill Barricade, he just knocked him out. That scene was missing too.

This movie no doubt has flaws and a few loopholes but hey, we waited more than 20 years for a REAL movie. And I've waited 4 years ever since there was rumoured to be a movie. I think M Bay has done an awesome job with limited knowledge about TF.

Yes SS got away and he would typically assume the leadership role of the decepticons. But who knows what might happen in the sequel.
