Wow, diden visit this thread and now 29pages liow!!

I went to see Shrek 3 last week and they played the trailer on the big screen. It was so awesome. Much nicer on the Big Screen compared to the PC!! Now I really can't wait for it. Will definitely get a DVD for my Theatre Collection when it is available.

For those who complained abot the bot designs, I would say chill out. I think in their current form, they are much more belivable... "less cartoonish/amateurish". I understand the nostalgia... I felt similar when OP was a gorilla in Beastwars. I thot it was silly and it was blasphemy to the original G1 OP. Didn't watch it for that reason... as it turned out the story had some nice plots, so in the end it was my loss.

IMHO, I like most of the updated designs except for Megatron. While I don't hate him, I just don't understand the design. Steven, Michael and the rest of the team must have ditched the megagun for a reason. One opinion is that Megatron still has not been exposed to the mega gun yet and as such has not chose to transform into one.... what u think.

To the nay sayers, give the film a chance. You know you are gonna watch it anyway, why not watch it with an open mind. At least the time spent will be more enjoyable.

OMg...some of the clips cannot be view anymore...haihz...anyways, who is bonecrusher???does it refers to megatron ar?
*
Bonecrusher is a Decepticon, but hates autobots and decepticons alike... even hates his boss Megatron, but boss is too powerfullah so have to be loyal. In G1 he was part of the Constructicon, Autobots. I think he was brainwashed / reprogramed to serve the Decepticons.

What clip u referring to, u mean the scene where bonecrusher is chasing OP thru the highway.... and then splits the bus into half.... the lunges at OP.... awesome. DO a search u may still find one available.... youtube?

Eh no la... Bonecrusher was one of the Constructicons... they joined to form Devastator... they are Decepticons biggrin.gif

Aiya, nolah, he was orignially an autobot. On cybertron he help build the crystal city... later captured by the decepticons and reprogrammed to work for them. So now he is a Decepticon. Bonecrusher is one of the arms of devastator.

the transformers movie base on japanese transformers? btw optimus prime look more alike with terminator 2 robots.. when do they showing the movie? i heard this month right?
*
The movie will be a Hollywood interpretation of the original Japanese Transformers. The transformers character and personality has been carried over, but the robot designs have been updated somewhat and Americanised (OP is an American truck, the cars are all american brands...) A lot of controversy behind the look of the robots as you have pointed out.

A few name changes has been made and new robots introduced. But the general Story/Intention of the original Japanese Transformers are intact.

Screenings will start 28 June. But I hear that there are earlier proviews available.

Transformers was originally Japanese? Huh?  unsure.gif G1 was originally American lah! The movie was a mixed of 20 years of Transformers, not based solely on G1. doh.gif

I knew someone would correct the general statements in the post. To all keepers of the Transformer faith, i am sory for my oversight.

All transformers that we have today is decended from 2 Japanese toylines, the Daiclone and Microman/Microchange owned by Takara(no Tomy at that time). The toylines were subsequently acquired by Hasbro, but Hasbro felt that a backstory was needed and Marvel was asked to build a backstory and animation for the G1 series that we know and love today.

Technicall all Transformers today were originally Japanese. But the truth is the story with the warring Autobots and Decepticons was Marvels idea. How much the 2007 movie borrows from the 20years of Transformer we don't know, but I read somewhere that Michael Bay in an interview said that the movie bowrows heavily from G1.

Hope this sets things straight and that the keepers of the faith will be happy.

So technically the animation was originally from the US but the toyline is not? Correct? Since most of us here cared more about the backstory more than the origins of the toyline. wink.gif

Taiko, sorry yah. I am not trying to be smart or anything. I stand corrected.

But if you see the past 29 pages, most people are hung up on the robot designs not on the storyline. I think that characters and their personality is most important, coz that makes the robot.

You know how the saying goes, absense makes the heart grow fonder. I wonder if it will be a good idea to starve ourselves of all things transformers so that when the movie comes it will be much better? And also to avoid spoilers that are coming out fast and furious.... like the ahem DVDs. So stop searching for transformers news to avoid dissapointment due to spoilers!!

I can understand the impatience... but after waiting almost 2 years, what is a few more days. Even the trailers are more dramatic on the big screen compared to the PC/Notebook screen... so the movie should be that much better as well.

Another 2 days la bros. The wait will soon be over. Michael/Steven... dun let us down please....

Advise to all. Stay away from this thread until after you have seen the movie. I foresee a lot of spoilers after the early preview tonight.

You have been warned.

Woah... what a movie. Michael and Steven did not let us down. OP was really grand and his ideals and character really shone through. Gotto love the part where OP explain everything to Sam with his Autobots standing round him.... great.

Fight scenes were fast and furious... maybe too fast, can't see the details.

The transformations were really complex made it more believable than G1. Story was A1, but some parts and characters really did not add much to the story like the piple trying to decipher the decepticon language, but the balck guys added some fun and slapstick comedy to the story.

Aiyo I see so many differences between the movie characters and the Action figures. Hoping for Ultimate Bumblebee and OP. Will definitely get when it comes out.

As a testament to how good the movie is... I will be watching it again on Sat!!!

Waiting for the next installment.... another 2-3 year wait cry.gif . Finally Sam gets the girl... yowza drool.gif

ps - I think the loose ends are there so that they can pick up the story in the next installment... to all that have not seen the movie wait through the credits got extras that are not to be missed.....

Really didn't espect it to be so farny. The more I think of it the better it gets... the transformations, Megan Fox, Rachel something or other... thankfully I am not a G1 "must adhere to the ori" freak This reintepretation is very nice. Peter Cullen's voice as OP really worked... so grand and fatherly. All the Autobots had sense of humour...... like iron hide "I think I'm going to rust"

Sequel 2 and 3 is confirmed but Michael Bay has not signed up yet. I guess he is waiting for the viewers and industry reaction to this movie first.... if its good... and it is, then he can ask for more $$$. Shia, Megan and Peter oledi sign up.

Michael was nice enough to let the writers poke fun at him.... great humour. Watched second time oledi and have to say I caught up on a couple of parts that I did not really understand during the firt round....

Now waiting for DVD edition with director's cut and all the edited parts reinserted!!!

Dudes, just put in point form what you like and what u don't like....

Like:
1. Its transformers on the big screen!!! Nuff said!
2. Optimus Prime and his ideals
3. Bumblebee and Sam
4. Humour and comedy makes it a really fun show
5. Transformations were superb but..... see below
6. Action, plenty of action
7. Babe action was good... midrift and short skirts galore
8. Remind me of my own teenage years....
9. Sam's happy time laugh.gif

Didn't Like:
1. Many loose ends e.g. what happened to barricade
2. Rachel was just eye candy, her character and the rest of the geeks did not add to the story. All that just to discover Sector 7 and Project Ice....
3. Need more detailed frames showing the transformations in detail

Ps- Dun Flame anyones, as everyone is entitled to their opinion.... even if its different from yours. Lets keep things civil.

Just read from The Star Online that in a Special Monday nite preview screening, Transformers Movie collected US$8.8m, which is 3rd.... behind Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End'' with US$13.2m and 1996's "Independence Day'' with US$11.1m. Not a bad showing is u ask me. Note this is US domestic numbers only.

Its well on the way to becoming a top money earner.....
