i liked it a lot, tho the one thing that did irk me is that we didnt actually get a prolonged focused megatron vs optimus battle.

its this decade's (or semi decade's) Independence Day for sure.

What happened to Starscream? did he get killed off by the fighter jets?? the action was too fast to know what was happening...
*
it wasnt fast, the climactic battle was just...random violence. shapeless really. a surprising failing from Bay, you'd expect him to excel in action usually.

Yeah well, all the close ups and irritating camera work kinda take *some* of the enjoyment off the action. And thats the one area you expect this movie to shine at
*
No it was just bad scripting/storyboarding. The climactic battle had no shape. It was just clips of (cool looking) random violence stitched together. There was no flow and ebb or strategy involved.

Oh dear, I enjoyed it much much less on the 2d viewing. The jokes which fell flat the first time around become almost unbearable in round 2, and the muddled climactic battle is a huge letdown once you get over the 'wow' effect of seeing it the first time around. All in all though I'd still say there's enough to give it a thumbs up (I'm trying not to let Megan Fox influence my thinking here tongue.gif). This will continue to make money at the BO, but its plainly clear on the second viewing that it doesnt have enough to make it a minor pop culture phenomenon like Jurassic Park, or Independence Day.

betcha you didn't do that in Jurassic Park & Independence Day smile.gif
*
I didnt, it was a free pass. tongue.gif and I went 3 times for Jurassic Park and ID4.

What on earth motivated you to sit through this for a 2nd time?

Megan Fox, and the aforementioned free ticket. tongue.gif

well this is the kind of movie that upon its release you see people shouting "OMG WOW BEST MOVIE. EVER!" and then a year or two later gets pretty much forgotten. Think Independence Day.
*
Independence Day isnt forgotten!! Its still awesome entertainment. Hard to find a better big dumb summer blockbuster. Its a 'classic'. biggrin.gif
