Since you mention 810, I think you'd save for it. mi4 is not worth it. before xiaomi came to malaysia, typical citizens just upgrade every two years. once xiaomi was introduced to malaysians, everyone buy Mi3. I predict that everyone will buy Mi4 once it is released in malaysia because of the price. S800 is powerful enough to handle the latest games so I dont think there will be a problem for the future game releases in two years. why upgrade so soon when it is still usable for the next two years? LTE? Can you get LTE reception everywhere you go? Better colour reproduction? i believe you can tweak your Mi3 to your liking and it will last you. Camera? You want to upgrade because of the camera?

its still up to you because its your money

Once you used LTE, you can barely stand the speed of 3G liao, mostly. In Klang Valley, LTE is applicable to lots of area liao, so I believe some would upgrade just for the LTE connection, I know I would but I no use MI yet and my family members who's using MI3 does not need data plan.

I believe my S4 still has a year of active life to go before it really feel dated.

I have tried LTE, it's really fast. But what I'm trying to say is not every area has GOOD LTE reception so I tell people to think properly. By the time Mi5 is available, LTE would be stable and we will have LTE-A under development.
GS4 sti has a lot of life in it. Flash an AOSP ROM next year and you will extend its lifespan. Normal lifespan for phones is 2 years with stock ROM.

yeah i will skip 805. will wait 810 for next year. 810 can record longer 4k video with no (or less) overheat, better video recording codec than current S800/801/805 with 5 minute limit when record 4K. my smartphone is my companion to my camera.

my area and workplace full LTE coverage (Celcom).

Mi3 camera is average quality, very slow autofocus. Mi4 comes with better sensor so I hope performance is far better than Mi3 camera. 1080p display on Mi3 is good but colour reproduction could be better, because my eyes so used to seeing accurate colour on my Dell Ultrasharp calibrated monitor.

Performance is very good on my mi3, on developer rom with lots of mods. no complain and very happy.

Good news for phone with price tag around ~RM1k, you can buy outright without contract and upgrade to newer version every year. smile.gif

At least give the reason why they wanna do pre-sale for Mi3 la, its to do a final push before the launch of Mi4. Xiaomi generated US$5.3 billion in revenue the first half of 2014, yet wanna claim running out of money doh.gif doh.gif

I ain't pro analysis, but reason why do Pre-sales is because they can control how many unit they need to manufacturer, and after that can final push Mi4 production. If you do watch full keynote of Xiaomi Mi4(available YouTube now), you understand what are their next step strategy. Of course, you won't expect LTE version Mi4 are ready until mid-late September.

A part of the reason is indeed to be able to make the manufacturing process more streamlined, but Mi3 is available in China, HK, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines and recently India, I hardly think they are sitting around in the factory sweating over how much will Malaysians buy and if they might over produce.

CNBC reported recently they are ramping up their production line, so it might also be a way to capture the market without having to wait for the factory to be ramped up 100%.

I think there r just trying ddifferent type of sales method, such preorder might full fill certain ppl who really want mi3 but unable to grab one.

They could have done the same for the other items (Note, Powerbank, 1S, etc..), it is a good way to capture the market without requiring a ready product. Else those preordered ones could simply go out and buy another phone in that 4 weeks.

What should you do now?

Well, first thing, you should use your phone to call other phones, sms and access internet...

If you really don't know what to do, you can always use your MI3 as your premium door stopper.
