Hi, I'm helping friend. His xbox 360 wont boot after he powered it up.

The led on power button was lit but there was no ring of light(not sure this is the correct term. lol) even after he waited like 1 hour.
The xbox hasn't been on for 3 months.

So far steps that he has taken
- hdmi cable is working. he has tested it on different device.
- power brick led is orange. turned green when it powered up.

Any advice?

remove HDD & unplug network cable before booting up the Xbox360?

He just tried it and it's not working. Any other suggestions?

what about trying composite/component cable instead of HDMI ? is he sure that his on the correct channel? HDMI1/AV1 ? is there any game in the disc tray ?

that's all I can think of, if all fails then its best he try it on friends house. is the unit unmodded & under warranty?

He did tried with component cable still ended up with the same result. There is no disc inserted when he tested it and he is very sure that he was in the correct channel.

The xbox is no longer under warranty and he confirmed to me that his xbox is modded version. He is yet to try it at his friends house. Probably will do so tomorrow.


I think his xbox is gone already. Anyway may I know if let say the hdmi cable is broken, will it prevent the xbox from boot normally?

im not sure about the Slim model, but the earlier models cannot boot without a signal cable.

anyway if its modded he has to send it back to the shop he bought it from, most probably some other issue none related to unmodded console.

My friend has tried it at his friend home and still didn't work. So I guess he has to buy a new one then.
