What is a menstrual cup?

A menstrual cup is a flexible soft cup to be inserted into the vagina to collect menstrual fluid. MeLuna Cup is one of the many brands out there. It's my preferred brand because:
• It is produced in precision-passionate Germany!
• Made from top quality TPE (Thermoplastic Elastomer) material that has passed high regulatory requirements, free of PVC, silicone, latex, proteins, and therefore hypoallergenic
• No risk of Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS) commonly associated with tampons
• It has many sizes and design for easier usage


How DOES IT WORK?

Please sterilize the cup before first use
1. Wash hands, take a small, flexible, soft cup.
2. Insert it into the vagina
3. The cup collects the menstrual fluid
4. After a few hours, remove the cup and empty it.
5. Clean and re-insert.
6. Sterilize the cup after every period cycle.
7. Place it in a pot of boiling water for 5-10 minutes.
8. Keep it in a lint-free bag, away from the sun

Some added tips:
1. MeLuna cups have 2 tiny holes at the top. When it is full, you will hear a little gurgling or popping noise. So, you'll have a small warning before it is full.
2. The keyword for better suction, is TWIST. After inserting, be sure to twist/rotate the cup at least 180°.
3. I personally find that sitting on the toilet bowl, with your back hunched forward, is the best position.
4. You can refer to this video for different ways of folding the cup, personally I prefer punch-down fold.
