I know most of us, fresh graduate out from university (or after an internship in local MNC company in my case) have their own perceptions about ideal/good cars (which is hard to find with limited cash or experience).

As I am still quite new to cars, like everyone else beginning to work in Malaysia, we want suitable cars for our everyday use. As the price of most cars are starting to drop by a few thousands. I think it is the time to start a new forum thread on cars.

Therefore, I would like to ask what is the most ideal car (for each national car and foreign car) for people beginning to start their career?

In my case, my rent house is around 20 km from my office but every weekend, I will be back to my home around 45 km from my rent house. My budget is up to RM 55,000.

Can you please advice me which car (both national or non national) is the most ideal in terms of... (Please no Myvi... as it cannot fit my luggage when I travel sometimes)

(a) Safety
(b) FC
© Handling
(d) Resale value
(e) Value for money
(f) Looks (not my main priority)
(g) Accessories (not my main priority)

I am still undecided over Proton Persona Executive (latest July 2014 model), Proton Saga 1.6 FLX Executive, Nissan Almera (secondhand), or Proton Persona SV.

If I can afford to pay cash, would you advice me to do so?

Hope you can provide me with your helpful insights. Thanks and love! rclxm9.gif

a) The Saga and the Persona have the same safety spec, i.e ABS, EBD, and 2 airbags. The Almera on the other hand has one to two airbags depending on the variant you're looking at. Edit: Not sure about EBD/ABS availability for all the Almera variants.

b) The Almera's engine is probably better than both the Protons. The Campro is not known for being a fuel saving engine, but on a highway cruise it should be pretty good.

c) The Persona is better than the Saga and the Almera. How does the Saga and the Almera compare, no idea. Ask for the Saga owners' opinion, though if I were to guess, the Saga is probably better.

d) Probably Almera. Nissan mah.

e) Persona / Saga FLX.

f) Persona or Saga FLX depending on individual preference. Almera looks pretty bad without the Impul / Nismo bodykit, but it depends on you.

g) No idea.

What kind of luggage when you traveling? Beside the boot, you can put luggage at rear sits and even passenger seats you know? Assuming you travel along or 2-3 person.

If not myvi, then saga sv or persona sv is best.
Or, wait for proton gsc.

Since your main point is just starting work, saga executive 1.3 is enough.

Just get Saga SV at RM33k
And don't waste your money buying cash.
Put that money into a proper investment fund
