QUOTE(plumberly @ Jul 15 2014, 01:24 PM) I thought the keyless start is a good thing but now, I am getting confused after reading and watching some youtube videos on starting Preve. Now prefer the normal key. Correct way is just a 2 step . Incorrect starting steps can throw the electronics haywire. My friend never bother n always start car in so many different ways that one day his car failed to startIn my test drive, the sales staff showed me how to start, insert the "thing", press on the brake pedal, press the start button. That is. On stopping, press on the brake pedal, and press the start/stop button. This is not the right way? Thanks. Insert key nob. Press start button n it will lit up yellow Press brake n once you see lit up as green press start button hard in . |

QUOTE(ChuanHong @ Jul 19 2014, 08:19 AM) oo.. thought u book and order ady.. Often issue that we heard is: 1.Disk brake (sound like helicopter) 2. Seat (fabric problem) 3. Sensor problem like VSC, or others 4. engine push start problem?! some cant start suddenly.. just check on these after we get the car.. then others see whether we can find out or not.. Those expecting a 100% perfect car should not even consider buying any car |

Sorry but hate to comment this : committing oneself to a 9 year HP loan is ridiculous. One should only buy what one can afford. Even a 5 year loan I deemed too long already. Your value of the car would have depreciated so badly than
9 years is a very long commitment for a depreciating asset |

QUOTE(ChuanHong @ Jul 21 2014, 01:48 PM) haha cannot anymore.. tmr will go take my car ady.. just contact my SA.. i also hope to get the car ASAP but just because drag by the renovation progress.. but done ady by today.. so tmr can take the car.. My point is one can always settle for a lower value car to reduce the loan...not necessary must buy a 1600cc car as a first car. During my youth it was difficult to get loans. Minimum we need to pay 20-30% downpaynent with interest 11% ( eleven) n max repayment 3 years. I survive on a motorbike for 3 years. I have seen in my 30+ years working many young graduates get themselves early in debt n struggling with no savings even till age 40+!!yes i understand you. but out there as many young ppl cannot really to afford a new car easily with their own financial.. so the only way is drag to 9 years.. its actually depend on person lo.. in accounting term, yes, car will depreciated for 5 years in business.. but in private, probably depreciate by 10 years.. salary in msia average is normal only. but most of capable person will choose for 3 or 5 years loan lo.. since high DP.. example i can give here is most of my friends, some family dont have any car/some have car but not enough transport.. my friends just all graduated and need transport to work.. so mostly family background not so strong.. even 10% dp also some problem.. but they forced to buy a car for work.. that why banker will got 9 years car loan for people.. |

This car GPS software in one word is simply hopelessly outdated. It is good only in major town n cities. As my wife uses the car mainly in town she doesn't use the GPS at all. At times when I drive it out of town I prefer to use my phablet ( on Sygic or Warez)
When I found out one need to pay to update the software I immediately disregarded it. Proton should at least provide free updates for minimum first 3 years of use. |

My wife's Preve even at 5000 km I got free service . Just need to pay for the oil change only. I still send in for service at 5000km even though Proton recommended is 10000km after first 1000km. Strange I did not get any of such free service vouchers with the car. At last 10000 km service is still free. The counter staff did tell me all the warranty services info are in their system and I need not worry about the vouchers.

QUOTE(SportyHandling @ Aug 29 2014, 07:43 AM) So this noise from the driver's seat, looks like there are some owners here who experience the same thing. Absolutely no front seat sound on my wife's Preve CFE just touching a year oldMay i ask if there is anyone who does not have this noise from the driver's seat IN ORIGINAL CONDITION? I am curious to know if there is a defect or design flaw in the driver's seat. The only issue we had with the car was a slight creaking sound at back seat. In its first week was recticified within an hour at service center . Till today no more such sound And all the other problems as reported here we do not faced too . Sometimes issues are due to different batches of supporting materials . If it is design issue all cars will be affected |

Good tips on starting n switching off. My friend disregard all these n simply start the car each time. One day he couldn't start the car. When he couldn't even tell the service tech how he always start it he was warned about the correct procedure. He was told Incorrect starting procedures consistently will bring havoc to the electronics n will cause such problems. He was told that some users also faced unable to switch off engine too due to consistent incorrect procedures to start/off engine.

QUOTE(SportyHandling @ Sep 3 2014, 08:36 PM) Guess there are some minor design flaws that still need to be ironed out by Proton. Just surprised they cannot seem to get some of the basics right, still. Never faced such engine shutdown while reversing even on slope. My wife's car CFE model is 13 months old . You should sent it in for checking n I don't think is a Proton widespread issue. |

QUOTE(predicate undefined @ Sep 11 2014, 06:54 AM) I ordered red Prevé, SA called me just now he got me black Prevé. He 'think' I ordered black. What should I do? Simply refuse it n insist on your red. Some of these sales guys want their commission fast n will tell you need to wait for the color you need Since he had accepted your red order he must fulfill it |

I had never bother to ever use cruise control in all the cars I had used. Even on highway you can hardly maintain a constant speed with the traffic in front. I had tried before n had never like it. With regards to fuel consumption I am happy with the CFE model. With a full tank n continuous drive at average 80 km/hr on trunk n 100 km/hr on highway I could cover 750km n indicator still show another 100 km to next refuel. In town driving full tank will hit about 580-600 km before warning light comes on
I would say fc is decently good for a 1.6 Turbo engine car We never drive our car hard . The car already in its 13th month had been excellent till now with zero problems Only issue was slight squeaky sound at backseat n that was rectified in week one itself. Unlike some of you guys I had never bother with the technicalities of driving. I just press the pedal and allow the car to auto control itself. This has always been my driving style past 30+ years on all auto cars I had driven This post has been edited by benny888: Sep 11 2014, 10:06 AM |

Had never even bother to try manual mode. Anyway i don't find the steering any heavy as reported. Even my missus feel is light n better than her previous Cefiro ( first gen 6 cylinder model).
Tried those paddle shifters few times only n never bother with it thereafter. We are just simple casual drivers. My wife don't even know what it is for n she is main driver. I can see many here are enthusiast drivers exploring it in details. For us is just a car n a mode of transport. It is decently reasonably good car. Too high expectation s from it you get dissapointed. This post has been edited by benny888: Sep 12 2014, 08:40 AM |

QUOTE(sanadi @ Sep 12 2014, 10:41 AM) Manual mode is useful when going downhill, like from genting. I can maintain ~60 kph just by using the manual mode. No need to press the accelerator or brakes. That seems to be the time when I feel the need for manual mode. I don't need it often, but when I do need it, I'm glad I have it. Thanks for the tips. Will keep that in mind if I need it |

QUOTE(terryble @ Sep 12 2014, 10:56 AM) Well during normal day to day driving, D mode is more than sufficient~~ Such stuffs doesn't appeal to me... I am an old chapBut...the tip mode (locked paddle shifting mode) can be really fun to drive with for 1) up / down hill, 2) highway, or 3) when overtaking~~the car is like suddenly woke up when u down shift and RPM goes above 3k~~ especially if u really does enjoy the turbo sound, the acceleration and the solid the engine sound the car give u... not practical during a jam or stop and go situation of coz~~ |

QUOTE(SportyHandling @ Sep 12 2014, 11:30 AM) Yes, one may find the steering of the Preve to be light. However, when the steering of the Preve is compared to other vehicles such as Nissan Sylphy or Ford Focus, these steerings are significantly lighter. Of course, it is all relative. The Slyphy steering is lighter as I had test drive it before and had never like it. Had no experience on the Ford FocusThe first generation Cefiro must be quite a difficult vehicle to drive since you mentioned the steering is heavier than the Preve. The Cefiro steering is only slightly heavier and is a very easy car to drive. This is my favourite car and it stays with us for nearly 20 years and on point of sale the buyer was simply amazed at the noiseless literary silent engine. In between I have change several models of Accord and Camry within every 4-5 years and these models can never match the Cefiro superiority. The only major weakness of the Cefiro it drinks petrol in town driving - full tank averaging 400 km only but is good and even better than the Accords/Camry on highway driving. Mine was the first gen straight 6 cylinder engine As it was not a commonly found car than, we decided to sell it off after 20 years as getting spare parts was a problem. The buyer converted it for drifting purposes WE paid nearly RM110000 for the Cefiro more than 20+ years ago and the Accord/Camry than was only about RM60k+ This post has been edited by benny888: Sep 12 2014, 11:47 AM |
