Yes, the steering in the Preve is heavy. As a matter of fact it's the heaviest steering I have experienced for a car. Certainly need to get some use, as I understand you will find it a chore if you happen to be used to lighter steerings in most vehicle. It will be more difficult to manoeuvre the vehicle in tight spaces especially when parking the vehicle, doing reverse etc. when you are used to light steerings. I don't think there is much you can do about it as the design of the vehicle, the weight of the steering wheel by Proton is as such.

The weight of the steering is not related to the size of the car or the wheels. Larger vehicles will have light steerings too. All larger Segment D Japanese vehicles such as Honda Accord for example, have light steerings.

Music player in the Preve is not good with flat 2-dimensional sound and weak bass.

Oh ya, anyone preve exec encounter CVT warning light pop out on morning cold start?

Did reflashing, and SC said SAT button kena water or tersangkut and claimed that they already solved..

But this warning light still appear the next day....

Just sharing what I gathered from WeCare this morning.

I went for my 1000 km service last week. Told that I could not top up to get Synthium. I paid for Synthium and got the Mach 5 home. Pissed off while at the SC. Called WeCare this morning. Learnt that Proton's current SOP is, topping up is not allowed, have to pay for Synthium and customer gets the unused Mach 5. STUPXX policy especially when the customer has no use for the Mach 5. Ironic when one pays so much for the car and now the disallowed top-up is adding acid to injury! All for just RM81! I heard that SC don't do the $ top up as the free service states Mach 5 and they cannot get around this in the computer system. What they take out from the stock is not the same as what is reported in the computer system.

Some friends here reported $ top up is allowed at their SC. I think the manager there is very nice, taking the trouble to bypass this by buying the Mach 5 for himself ( Mach 5 & Synthium withdrawals from the stock, customer pays for 190-80 = 110 and manager pays the remaining 80).

WeCare lady suggested that I write in on this and she will pass it on for their review etc etc.

the R3 bodykit promotion ends today. cash n carry rm1000. if proton do the installation rm1175.
if i am not mistaken, normal price for original R3 bodykit at proton is rm1400.

my advice to you please think carefully if you are going for that bodykit... standard 16" rims and tyres on your preve with R3 bodykit is way too low... seriously very2 low! i did hit the ramp at the open air parking space in 1u old wing... the sound was so painful

and you going to have nightmares whenever you see bump... going up/down in basement parking. since R3 is having promotion i upgraded to R3 17" rims with 215/50/17 tyres and yet i still hit the parking ramp in palm mall seremban last weekend

on top of that whenever you go to any workshop you have to remind the mechanic about your bodykit... else end up like me, with a cracked side skirting at the moment

if you ask me now, worth getting the bodykit, i will tell you this... i will do it again hehehe

Anyone can describe the helicopter brake sound?

It was like "ummmm" or "Tak Tak Tak"?

mine more like dub dub dub when breaking...it's quite noticable...and if you feel your brake disc...you will notice its not smooth

Under what situation can notice this problem ? soft breaking can notice or not ?

Soft braking...as in 40km/h n below...not noticable...above that it will be more pronounced

Yes that is the retail price. However if you know someone or a friend working in Petronas, they can get 30% cheaper

I was having the same problem trying to figure it out on the service timing. Just use km interval as the yardstick. So, 1K, 6K, etc. Ditto with 6 months time interval, which ever is sooner.

Good news, got a call from my SC manager saying that from my next service onwards, I can top-up to use synthium instead of paying for the full amount!

Glad that now they see customer's problem without the $ topping up.

For the service interval, look up your Service Booklet. Follow that one as not to void the warranty.

Check with your SC on S 800 at 10,000 km interval service.

I will be going for my next service at 11,000 km (now with S1000).

Just share mine condition.  I do come to your condition a well previously after my first 1k service,  dilemma about the interval thingy and some of sifu's comment to go for 6k if u r using syn800.  I did call back few times to different SA and SC as well and come to my own conclusion is if you are driving just a short distance from point A to point B everyday,  it will not worry u much (in my first 1k service,  the SA did asked me this question some sort like "how you use your car daily"). My answer to him is a normal driving style +occasionally traffic jam with around 50km distance daily. At the end of session I got syn 800 with next service 10k. Y? The comment just given as syn 800 is proven to be good enough up to this milage,  unless u dun mind to spend more money on this then just go ahead. Yeah,  somehow their thought make sense to me

BTW for all preve owners who are suffering helicopter brakes...just had mine replaced at Mutiara Damansara SC FOC. Don't wait till first service....get it done ASAP...they don't recomend skimming the brakes either...change straight.

When I went there I told him got helicopter sound  he laughed and wrote down "brake judder". When you go tell them got dub dub dub sound when you brake at around 60 to 80 kph.

At 17 inch, most reputable tyres are around 500 a donut. It retails around RM500, maybe it is cheaper when you get in market?
