Mine was nt blinking the light stayed still. I went to SC and complained. They fixed it. No more light. I supposed the light should not come up on 1st place. Mine came up when i drive to penang. Not for short distance. Just bring to SC.

Thanks.

ESC appeared (not blinkling). Same as mine. Did it disappear on restarting the car?

Thanks.

Like to know what are the paint dots of different colours in the engine area for.

As part of Proton quality control to indicate where to put the different oils, to indicate that someone has checked them, etc?

Thanks.

Just sharing what I gathered from WeCare this morning.

I went for my 1000 km service last week. Told that I could not top up to get Synthium. I paid for Synthium and got the Mach 5 home. Pissed off while at the SC. Called WeCare this morning. Learnt that Proton's current SOP is, topping up is not allowed, have to pay for Synthium and customer gets the unused Mach 5. STUPXX policy especially when the customer has no use for the Mach 5. Ironic when one pays so much for the car and now the disallowed top-up is adding acid to injury! All for just RM81! I heard that SC don't do the $ top up as the free service states Mach 5 and they cannot get around this in the computer system. What they take out from the stock is not the same as what is reported in the computer system.

Some friends here reported $ top up is allowed at their SC. I think the manager there is very nice, taking the trouble to bypass this by buying the Mach 5 for himself ( Mach 5 & Synthium withdrawals from the stock, customer pays for 190-80 = 110 and manager pays the remaining 80).

WeCare lady suggested that I write in on this and she will pass it on for their review etc etc.

Cheerio.

Some novice questions here ...

AA Noted when I take my foot off the fuel pedal, sometimes the instant FC will go down to zero while sometimes it will stay at about 3-5 L/100km. Why? Depends on the speed when I take my foot off the pedal? Or the road inclination - if a slope downward, then FC = 0?

BB The service staff told me last week when I picked up my car for the 1000 km service to open the car door by pressing the thumb on the stationary part and pull the door handle. I used to open by just pulling on the door handle. He says that will damage the door mechanism as one is not just pulling but also lifting the door handle. True?

Cheerio.

The door handle is meant to be pulled gently. If you put your thumb on the fixed part, you use only the necessary force to pull the latch. That's the idea.

If you just pull the latch (like many of people do, four fingers over the latch and pull), there's a risk you may use too much force and break the handle.

Thanks.

Gee, our Preve is such a girlie gentle car! Ha. Handle with care.

I've been giving my CFE the creme de la creme (Syn 5000) since the first service biggrin.gif

Wah, ini taukei besar!

Mind sharing your journey with S 5000? Why not S800 or S1000?

Can one see a difference in the car performance with the different S?

For me, since I changed to S1000 after my 1000 km service, I THINK the car is lighter/smoother when I take my foot off the pedal and let it strolls on the road. Maybe it is just my mind playing a trick on me. Ha.

Cheerio.

P/S Since my SC does not allow me to top up for S x000, thinking of using Mach 5 after my 10,000 km service if Mach 5 is good enough. Must be since Proton has stated that for the service.

Anyone can describe the helicopter brake sound?

It was like "ummmm" or "Tak Tak Tak"?
*
I am also wondering what is that sound like.

Can someone record the sound and share here? Of course, get a 2nd person to record while you concentrate on your driving.

Thanks.

P/S Sound like these real helicopters?

QUOTE(vostro78 @ Sep 20 2014, 10:02 AM)

by the way, i thought syn 800 good enough for first 1k service  tongue.gif , my next service is on 6k. previosly all my car service is on 1k, 5k,10k then either 15k or straight to 20k,30k,

but proton diff? 1k, then is 6k cause is 1k+5k), then 11k ?
*
I thought the services are at 1000, 10,000 .. etc

Yours at 1,000, 5,000 .. ?

I was having the same problem trying to figure it out on the service timing. Just use km interval as the yardstick. So, 1K, 6K, etc. Ditto with 6 months time interval, which ever is sooner.

Good news, got a call from my SC manager saying that from my next service onwards, I can top-up to use synthium instead of paying for the full amount!

Glad that now they see customer's problem without the $ topping up.

oh 1k straight to 10k? u uare using syn1000 or ?

mayb i am using syn800 so need go at 6k service. i top up Rm32 yesterday for the EO upgrade.
*
For the service interval, look up your Service Booklet. Follow that one as not to void the warranty.

Check with your SC on S 800 at 10,000 km interval service.

I will be going for my next service at 11,000 km (now with S1000).

Check your service booklet.

Read that it is better to leave FC in instant mode rather than average mode. Why? Then one can learn more about the car to reduce the FC.

Done that and learnt that the car has a cut in point at about 30 kph. Say you are driving at 40 kph and take your foot off the pedal. The FC will go to 0 till the speed is about 30 kph. Then the fuel will cut in to the engine at about 6-10 L/100km. I guess it needs some fuel now to keep the car moving forward.

So, look ahead and take your foot off the pedal early when you expect a slow-down ahead.

I took my son to his friend's house for a birthday party last night. The RPM was on the high side (>2000 rpm) and later I realised why. I was in S mode (put there by mistake). While in S mode, I did not feel the car was more powerful, faster etc etc. Prefer to be in D mode. When would one drive in S mode? I thought when one is "racing". No?

Thanks.

I just drive it same pattern with my vios.... As I already know proton car is heavy FC. So mind set already no matter how soft I press. And most of the time I am on city drive....so lagi impossible to hv good FC. So I just let it be and enjoy the ride. Preve is really much more stable the vios but of cos the pick up is slower in return.
*
After using instant FC for awhile, noted that the 1 km drive to my son's school is one expensive drive. Why? So many bumper slow-downs and stops in just 1 km stretch (8 of them)! FC at 20-40 for about 10 seconds to get moving again. So now using another road though that one is about 100 m longer (but with only 2 slow-downs).

Is it just me having this feeling? I prefer not to bring the car to SC when there is a minor problem to be fixed as I fear that in trouble-shooting and fixing my problem, that may result in more problems later!

A friend who is a guru in cars said most of the service staff at Proton SC need a steep learning curve to catch up. Pity.

For minor problems (e.g. door plastic cover on front passenger side is loose), I think I will leave them till my 11,000 km service. For more serious problem (safety related), I will go in ASAP.

Cheerio.

Used my GPS for the first time today. Just testing. Destination my house. Find it strange when it said "turn left right". Thought it should be just "turn left". Or it means something else?

I am pretty sure that is what she said "left right". Not just once but a few times later.

Like my little daughter says sometimes, ear rosak or the English accent of the lady.

Will try again.

I used WD40 on my door hinges as the doors are quite hard to open and close, especially for my young children. Learnt later that WD40 is mainly for loosening up joints and not really as lubricant for regular use. Grease comes to mind. Can you recommend some good grease for such application? Don't want grease that will attract dirt and thus make it dirty and hard to open/close. Thanks.

I pressed the ESC off button but nothing appeared on the display.

Looks like I have 2 issues with this ESC (appeared blinking twice so far and the ESC off symbol does not appear on the display).
