there are a lot of superstition for all occasion, it's up to individual to believe it or not.
I know a real case, not related to wedding but pregnancy.
My mother is a baby sitter, last year she take care of one baby, with some complication. He's born with imperforate anus (without butt hole), have to under-go colostomy operation to pass stool. Doctor also found that he got hole in heart, more operations for the baby to fix his condition.
After some questioning, the parent admitted to fix some water pipe while the wife is pregnant and around the house, which is a taboo to the Chinese. Wife also mentioned she don't know any taboo, no one to teach her that.

QUOTE(LoveMeNot @ Jul 10 2014, 02:02 PM) that's why lor.i oso got heard ppl don't follow and in the end really happen.dunno if it's coincident or what. scary oso tbh. do majority chinese actually follow this? --> not attending any wedding before and after during their own wedding. I have few close friends getting married about my time too. I'm torn between this. really up to you to believe it or not. some will say now modern world d, don't need follow all those superstitious, but if *touch wood* anything were to happen, people will dig out your past and blame you for that. my mom always say "don't be stubborn, later anything happen, don't come back crying. listen to the elder".
