Yoi going Hokkaido at wrong time. First, just sleep at seat or floor. That Cabin price really expensive. Not worth. But you still want then Human Nature already give you the answer.
purposely going sapporo for snow festival ... saturday sunday ski at niseko ....monday at sapporo snow festival ... flight to osaka is tuesday morning ...
will flight delay frequently occur on early february ? i found some info from trip advisor is that it mostly delay few hours....if really really bad luck delay one day izzit true ?
hi . i want to ask , i staying at niseko and want to go otaru for light festival at night but my hotel is at niseko hirafu , i found no problem going there , but how to back ? im planning to back around 10pm , but seems like there is no more bus or train to back niseko =(=( any alternative ? pleaase help help
Niseko to Otaru quite a Journey. 10pm no more Transport. Have to overnight at Otaru.
If want back to Niseko. U have to leave Otaru at 6-7pm
ya i google a lot already .... 2 hours distance ... i reach chitose on saturday morning ( feb 7 ) and depart to red ski house niseko , i think ill reach around 3-4 pm , then go to otaru to see light festival , i think 6-7 reach T.T ...dont know how to back...earliest train is next day 6am T.T ... sunday ski at annupuri , and monday head to sapporo for snow festival and tuesday morning to chitose again and flight 930am on tuesday to osaka via peach airlines...
RegentCid should i rent a car for 3 days ? or should i only use public transport ... currently my plan route is chitose to niseko via bus, and the rest all via JR
back to my earlier post , i decided to rent a car for 3 days in hokkaido , is it advisable to do that ? because i cant find any way to back from otaru to niseko at night ...
my itineary Feb 7th 2015 ( saturday ) -9am reach chitose chitose go to niseko - stay 2 night saturday evening to otaru , then back to niseko from otaru at night sunday ski whole day at niseko monday early morning go to sapporo for snow festival , tuesday early morning go to chitose to depart to osaka
for my plan , rent a car is more cheap than using public transport right ? 2 person , and also timing more flexible , is it easy to drive in hokkaido ?
rental fees so far i had asked for 3 days is
Honda rent a car
Hond Fit hybrid
29160 yen = RM854
Toyota rent a car
Toyota Vitz / passo
22140 yen = RM648
Nippon rental
Honda Fit
24656 yen = RM722
Jr rent a car
Nissan Note
14800 yen = RM433
All price for 3 days and including CWD insurance
is Jr rental is a good and reputable choice ?
so far nippon customer service very fast responce and willking to give me assitance in english , they also can let me pre-book the car without making any deposit
hope u can help RegentCid

electron mamasos at first i thought the train is until night 10pm.... after i book the hotel at niseko for two night and one night at sapporo and already paid , only i realize the last train is 7pm T.T
at first is use bus from chitose to niseko , and train from niseko to otaru , and train to sapporo from niseko , and train from sapporo to chitose.
seems like now only solution is renting a car , to save all the time and hassle,
estimate first day reach niseko ski hotel 1pm check in lunch prepare etc 3pm go otaru , estimate 6pm reach and stay until 10pm and back to niseko
second day early morning ski whole day till evening , night have some rest and third day early morning go sapporo snow festival until night , have a stay at dome hotel and forth day early morning return car at chitose and flight 930am from chitose to osaka for the ongoing trip...
hmm...i'll be staying at niseko red ski house and dome hotel sapporo
by the way what is the time turning dark in hokkaido ? as in malaysia is 7pm
another question is if i take taxi from otaru to niseko around 10pm , how much will they charge me ?

Feb at Hokkaido was one of most bad ass snow storm time. If snow storm coems. It will be impossible for you to drive. You might ends up at middle between Otaru to Niseko then sleep at car. You better pray no snow storm. About car. Must choose AWD car with English GPS. Which car rental can offer english GPS then just rent it.
Hokkaido winter , 4pm already dark as Malaysia 10pm
taxi from Otaru to Niseko will be more than RM1000
i had already google many rental provider and seems that nippon hokkaido , best match ur description , and their provide services in english , car with english gps , and snow tyre and 4WD , and also 24 hours help if i face any problem on road...included CWD insurance everything in one fees
is honda fit enough for 2 person ? without any ski equipment or luggage , as we will put at hotel also another question is do i need a ETC card ? or just pay cash for parking and toll everthing via cash ?
24656 yen for 3 days , seems to be a good deal and cheaper a lot if i take bus and train and i travel so many places. just hope to pray no snow storm and drive safely , bless bless T.T
electron ya already calculate all the distance ... i also got ask opinion from nippon hokkaido my itinerary and they also suggest me to rent a car as my schedule is quite tight , using public transport will delay in time and no flexibility , they will give me full support from time to time , all i need to do i pick up and return both at chitose airport , seems quite convenient to me ...only need to aware when driving and pray pray no snow storm =(
is this consider a snow storm ?

electron i think settle hokkaido side plan already now is osaka , kyoto and tokyo side , tuesday morning ( feb 10 ) - depart from chitose and reach osaka airport around 12pm - check in in richmond hotel at namba, evening go some coffee shop nearby , walk walk around , night maybe sight seeing and the red ferry wheel and sleep -wed ( feb 11) early morning go universal studio and late evening go to kyoto via shinkansen -wed night stay at kyoto tower hotel just beside JR station -thursday morning ( feb 12 ) plan to go to Kinkaku-ji gold temple and bamboo forest afternoon go to higashiyama district for walk around and souvenier purchase later evening / night , shinkansen to tokyo
feb 13 , 14 will be at tokyo shibuya , disneysea , and akihabara
stay two night at tokyo at akihabara washington hotel , nearby JR also tokyo itineary still planning in progress first day for disneysea , and second day choose certain place if not enough time (tokyo skytree , diver city gundam ,character street etc )
flight from tokyo back to malaysia is on satursday night ( 1150pm) Feb14 already apply optiontown for extend , if approved will convert to sunday night ( 1150pm ) Feb 15 if extend approved will visit more place in tokyo
for osaka and kyoto and tokyo , do i need a JR pass ? or just purchase normal ticket on the spot ?

First. Your sure you will landed at Osaka Airport or Kansai Airport? Don't mess up with this 2 Airport.
JR Rail Pass Rm9xx Shinkansen from Kyoto to Tokyo RM6xx one way. If you got JR Rail Pass. Your pass usage at Shinkansen + Tokyo Yamanote Line & JR Chuo Line only. Basically not worth the money for JR Rail Pass.
so , mostly start from osaka till tokyo all using train , and inside tokyo mostly subway i also did research for weeks and notice JR pass seems not suitable for me ... so everything i can purchase on the spot right ? shinkansen everything ...no need advance pre book ?

Kansai have to say Kansai. Don't say Osaka Airport. If you say Osaka , People will think Osaka Itami Airport. Shinkansen from Kyoto to Tokyo have 3xx train traverling each day. No need advance booking. You sure can get seat. Even reserve seat was full. You still can buy non reserve seat section.
thanks for the input. might change my plan to kinkakuji first then arashiyama
same here , i wil be staying and ktoyo tower hotel , and once i check out early in the morning , i will leave my luggage at there , which is also beside JR station , for my shinkansen to tokyo in late evening
i plan to visit 3 place , bamboo forest , kinkakuji and higashiyama district
from hotel i will direct go up to kinkakuji first , then to bamboo forest , from bamboo forest then go higashiyama for the whole afternoon and evening from higashiyama go to JR station to tokyo
is this the best and efficient route ? it is because i think the view for kinkakuji will be the best early morning so i plan to there first , and it is located at north also
