Hello. I am trying to decide between mediapad x1 and x2. I see almost no difference between the x1 and x2 except for the processor. The size and design and battery and camera and screen spec seem all the same. Do you think the camera is any better on the x2 than the x1? What about screen? Or did they just use the old parts from x1?

If everything else exactly the same except for processor, I would rather buy x1 since it is cheap and out right now. x2 won't come out til May? and be more expensive.

I also have a few questions about x1. I have hard time finding good reviews. How good is the camera? Is it better/worse than Galaxy S4 camera? Also, how fast is the old kirin 910? I mean day to day usage, not benchmark since I know it bad in benchmark. With latest software update, is it as fast as snapdragon 800/801? I know raw power snapdragon much better, but for web browsing and simple apps, about the same speed?

Welcome.

The screen on the X1 is very good in terms of clarity and sharpness, so I don't think re-using the X1 screen on the X2 is a problem.

As to camera, don't hope for a good camera on ANY tablet. It works, takes reasonable pics, has some digital image stabilization.

In terms of day-to-day usage, it's fine, although some stuttering is noticeable (I'm using Nova launcher) but I have read that using its stock Emotion UI is good performance.

Watching videos, web surfing, reading ebooks and casual gaming are totally fine on the X1. I can even play Clash of Clans for about 3.5hours, which is far longer than any phone tongue.gif

It is expected that the top range X2 will go for about RMB2999, which is approx USD450-500 depending on the exchange rate.

The X1 can probably be gotten for about USD300 or less.

BTW what country are you from?

If you are rooted, you can use iFont. If you are not rooted, I don't think you can.

That is the Malaysia R002 B008, which is 4.4.2, and after some time it should prompt you to update to B102.

I am from US. I can get x1 for $350-$400 here and x2 for $450-$500 if I import from Germany but from what I can tell it won't be out until April 7 in China and later for rest of world.

I actually am most concerned about camera as everything else seems okay on either model. I have Xperia Z3 and iPad Air. I want to just use one device. The x1 has Sony Exmor R sensor. The sensor is not bad and is the same as Galaxy S4. The problem Is huawei camera software and processing is bad. But huawei releases many updates and it can significantly change how good the camera is. I cannot find updated review with latest firmware and camera samples. They are all old reviews from 9 months ago.

Huawei tout the latest x2 as having very good low light capability camera at MWC. That's why I am wondering if it the same camera sensor as x1 or better. People may say oh its a tablet it shouldn't have a good camera but the point of this device is to have best of both worlds. Huawei tout x2 as smartphone and not tablet so I hope for good camera. It have plenty of room and no reason why not. The tablet is not cheap.

There aren't enough changes in the x2 to make me sell my x1 and buy it. Maybe when the next tablet comes out. Is there still no permanent solution to writing to the SD card?

The SD card issue is caused by Google, introduced in KitKat, and the OEMs are just making workarounds for it in their ROMs. Ostensibly it's for security and the users' own good.

Unfortunately without rooting and installing the sdfix patch, 3rd party apps still CAN'T write to SDcard natively.

7D-503L is the China LTE version

7D-501u is the China 3G version

Recommend you get the LTE version. Exceptional 4G performance, better than Note3 and Note4.

The version sold by Huawei Malaysia is the 7D-501L International version but ROM updates are slower.

Oh, from the description

Factory model - 7D-501u
Phone type - 3G & 4G Tablet Phone

So apparently that '4G' is not compatible with MY's LTE band?
Normally you guys here get the phone from the local store or online? smile.gif

IF it is the 501u, there is NO 4G modem inside. You will never get 4G.

I got mine from 1Gadget, 501L. You could check with Huawei stores, it should be RRP 1299.

Any warranty claims will also be easier.

Oh, then the product description posted in that ad is very misleading. Thought dialoghub is an established AP reseller.

Can't find this in the Online Huawei Store eh bro.

Sometimes the sellers don't even know what they're selling tongue.gif

Hmm...I don't know why Huawei wasn't actively promoting the X1...it is/was the best device in its class.

Similary the original Mediapad was also the best device in its class for the time, yet Huawei internal categorisation prevented the Mediapad's marketing and promotion.

Probably you will have to take a trip to LYP's Huawei outlet, or other Huawei retail locations.

Pairing this phone to oppo ha-2 dac/amp was a disaster. It appears that it couldnt keep up rendering hires audio thru UAPP, having the sound heavily distorted. It's fine with fio e18 tho since it's limited to 96khz. I ran cpu load and ha-2 will made the cpu ran high 1.1 ghz on 3 cores, often waking up the 4th core vs only 2 cores@0.6ghz used by fiio e18. Can any of you confirm this?

Its taking long for Huawei Malaysia to release 4.4.4 update to MX1. Do we still have chance to receive Android 5.0 in future?

By the way, if I flash the German kitkat firmware, will it void my warranty? By the way I did not root my phone as at today

That is biggest problem with HW Msia sets. Updates are miserably extremely slow. Faced that in all my ex HW models and current Mate7 too. China and Europe models would had 4-5 updates by now
Warranty I never bother me I always flash to latest Europe version once available
HW phones very hardy not my experience I would say it's hardware quality is very good vs Samsung, HTC, Sony, LG

My X1 was having WIFI lost connection issue and currently I am using 4.4.2 7D-501L....B012.

I found out that my data line is better than I connect to my WIFI at home but this should not be happen as my house streamxy is much more faster and reliable compare to data line inside my house. My others devices like Samsung phone, Ipad, Ipad mini do not have WIFI drop issue and only my HW X1 having this connection issue.

May I know is anyone having the same issue like me and is there any solution to resolve this?
