Mediapad X1 : price range RM 1.1 to 1.2K
Mate 7 : 16 GB - RM 1.5-1.6 K while the 32GB is RM 1.8-1.9K

Worth or not fully depend on what you need in a phablet
The X1 main advantage is its bigger display ( 7') and much better battery life ( 12-14 hours SOT)
Other than these advantages the Mate7 is overall a much better performer and smoother than the X1

Uncle if I buy this model (7D-501u) can I flash it to 7D-501L LTE firmware?

Is the 7D-501u a LTE version?

Last can I flash Taiwan KitKat ROM.

Thanks.

If you want LTE get the 7D-501L (international, including Taiwan) or 7D-503L (China).

501u is the 3G model.

You cannot flash 501L firmware on 501U model
This phablet already so cheap n why bother to get 3g only model . Msian models are all LTE 501L.
You can flash any country firmware as long is meant for model you buy.

bvannier : further to noobi3 posts above : here are pics to show

Fastboot mode ( vol up + power button)

[attachmentid=4145254]

Flashing in PC using fastboot

[attachmentid=4145257]

Recovery mode ( vol down + power button)

[attachmentid=4145259]

If you had problems booting using those buttons use the app QUICKBOOT ( need root) and choose bootloader for fastboot mode and Recovery for recovery mode

And please don't say you are old !! I am old too, touching 60 years soon !

I was merely supplementing Noobi3 description of his procedures on flashing stock recovery using fastboot commands. DO read the earlier post by him above mine
You must be rooted to install CWM - you can use the app Flashify for it : refer page 1
No need to unlock Bootloader for this phone

Just copy the extracted dload folder into ext sdcard n either select from software update in phone or just switch off n restart phone
You can search for firmware at forum XDA
Most probably midway during install you will be prompted to remove ext sd. Do that n rename the dload folder - this is to avoid reinstallation again
Upgrading firmware is exactly the same procedure

I have just download the taiwan firmware from http://consumer.huawei.com/tw/tablets/supp...tw.htm?id=28043.
after that I just unrar it can transfer to ext sd card and update?
Do i need any special steps before doing this?
Do i need a new sd card?
Do i need to backup any photo, video before doing this?
And what is the different between this and my current firmware?
Any loss in function or shortcoming compare with my current firmware?
I see there is another malaysia version, http://consumer.huawei.com/my/tablets/supp...iapad-x1-my.htm Which one should i use?
Sorry this is my my first time doing manually update.

I have a 7D-503L Honor X-1 (Mediapad) and it's stuck on the logo screen. I cannot get to any kind of recovery. I also tried to put an update with the dload folder method and nothing happens. Any suggestions for getting some type of recovery back?

That Taiwan version is very old firmware. You should download latest Msian firmware. You can use existing ext sdcard n make sure it has 5gb free space. No need to backup but if you need to , you must use CWM . To update firmware you must revert back to stock recovery

You can only use 503l firmware
Try flash back stock recovery
At terminal :
fastboot flash recovery stock_recovery.img

You can get the stock recovery image from XDA
The Mate7 full zip ( for install CWM) has a folder with the stock recovery
Copy this image into same folder where you had the adb/fastboot commands installed

Thanks for the info. My computer doesn't even recognize the tablet via USB. How do I flash without the computer recognizing the X-1 and there is no recovery? Is the Mate7 recovery the same as the Mediapad X-1 recovery?

Install Huawei X1 USB drivers
In phone select usb debugging in developer options. Activate this developer option by tapping setting/phone/build no few times
First time you connect you will be prompted to pair phone w PC. And if you see usb logo in taskbar pulldown n select default as MTP
With this your PC can connect w phone
Different phone has differentiate stock recovery usually

The phone doesn't boot up- it does not make it to the home screen so I can't get into developer mode to turn on debugging. It gets stuck on the "Honor" logo and that's it. I installed the Hauwei USB drivers and the phone isn't recognized. I can't get into any recovery. Your help is so appreciated!
