Nah, No Moto G. I used a Htc desire S for 2 years until I lost my phone with battery life remaining the same. But I won't buy a htc phone ever again. Some issues occured

Use for calls/sms/whatsapp/taking picture of cats, events, flowers. Most important is can whatsapp. LTE is not needed.

My current phone is Xperia ZR. Wanted to buy the Z1C last time but it was not release. So settle for a ZR. Nice phone. No regards buying the ZR. The Z1C now is cheaper by about RM200 than what I paid for my ZR. Was thinking of getting her the ZR but it is no longer in production.

My sister is still using a Nokia e5. We dont change our phone every year. We use it until it really spoil.

For me, waterproof is a must cause my place always rain and I walk a lot. For my sister, waterproof, sd card is just a bonus.

I feel I am paying too much just for SD card slot, better camera specs and waterproof if I choose the z1c, I can do a lot of things with RM500.

The thing stopping me from buying a xiaomi phone for her is:
1. I don't think my sister trust a phone company from china
2. Bugs (read the miui forum regarding basic function affected)

But she usually buys what I think is good. So she is depending on me to make the choice.

"I've encountered a problem of which when I received a call, or make a call out and connected to the recipient, the network gone flat. I have to re-key in my pin code everytime the network is lost. I am using Maxis line and this issue occurs only when I am set to 3G preferred only settings and everything is good when I set my network preference to 2g prefered network.

I have updated to 4.7.12 today with the hope that the issue might be rectify but it was not.
Device: Xiaomi Mi3 (WCDMA)
Firmware: Dev Rom 4.7.12
Network: Maxis

Dev team please look into this issue or else it basically means that the phone can only use 2G if this problem is not solved. "

Anyone encounter this issue?
*
I dont know if I had it with the stable MY ROM but it must be very rare.

It started when I flashed mine to Stable KitKat China ROM. It was severe, almost 75% of the calls being affected. Then I flashed Dev ROM and was okay for whole day. Then suddenly it starts again... Going crazy with 75% network lost probability.

I just wiped clean on Saturday after updated to the newest dev (.11) ROM. Only had 2-3 calls but no problem yet. I will monitor and update tomorrow because the most severe location is my office. Will get to test it tomorrow. Even 2G only also will network lost. I'm also testing turning off data while there's incoming call. Will update definitely.

Luckily I'm not so dependent on calls. Probably had 20 or so calls per day. Even then 75% is high...

FYI, I did not wipe when updating from MY to China Stable KitKat, then to dev ROM. Only wipe on Saturday after it returned a day after flashing dev rom.

Well.. To be honest, if you really decide to use 3 years or more or till it spoilt. the 16GB really not enough for you as you might need to do some housekeeping that transfer your photo or download to store into your PC.

You should look for those have SD Card slot or minimum of 32gb device. Mi3 have 16GB. Or you can consider Redmi Note.

Guys, please stop fighting.
Actually blackamikaze is right. I can only buy one phone, ANd that phone must last like 3 years. (updates not important). As long as functioning and can last 3 years +.My sister initially wanted to buy xperia t cause is advertise in the newspaper by courts.

But seeing the specs of that phone, I decided she is better off with mi3 or xperia z1c

Price
Xperia t : RM650
xiaomi mi3 : RM769
Xperia z1C : RM1269

Hey if xiaomi can phone can work as good as z1c, I don't mind buying mi3. My initial thought was get my sister the xiaomi cause difference only rm119, Then I thought, let us look at xperia z1c price. But xperia z1c is too pricey.

I really wanted to buy xiaomi until I found out about the bugs affecting signals, calls, sms. Basic stuff. So I am still confuse. I need more info to see whether you guys experience those bugs.

Hope that clears things up. .

if u wan cheap, dun nid lte speed, dun nid microsd expansion, juz go for mi3. Girls in particular will like the camera.

if u wan better camera, lte, microsd expansion and water resistant, u will nid to pay extra for z1c. U get what u pay for. Z1C is definitely more expensive, but u get those lte, microsd, water resistant and better camera.

if u wan cheap, camera and lte is not important to u, Moto G.

if u wan cheap, got lte and camera not important to u, Moto G lte.

so basically, the question is, do u nid those added features like lte, microsd and water resistant?

I can actually get it cheaper AP set for 2 years warranty. But not sure that is the way to go or not. 2 years warranty from shop, cheaper price vs 1 year warranty at slightly more pricey (aboout RM30 difference)

I haven't actually discuss it with my sister. Cause I know she will use anything I get for her. But it is my parents who I have to go through. They have the mentality that china phones are of no quality. Can explode anytime. But I am totally cool with this China phone seeing that Singaporean grab it, all phones are made in china nowadays andthey have someone previously from Google.

The thing I scared is the phone suddenly cannot call or sms.

Another reason holding me back is I read in the MIUI forums, Xiaomi takes your money and dont care about you. I don't like to give my money to somebody like that. That is why I do not like to do business with apple. Drop my ipad 2 and they refuse to service for me saying it is against apple's policy to open up the ipad. vmad.gif

if u wan 2 years warranty of mi3, buy from SenQ or SenHeng. They provide 1 more year of warranty, so total 2 years. But there is a catch, they sell at RM859.

for ur parents, tel ur parents to look at their phone back cover. Nowadays many electronic device oso make from China riao. Make in China not necessary bad quality. It's bcoz the company decide to have manufacturing warehouse in China due to their cheap labour.

As much as I don't want to sound harsh, bro it is common sense. If a device is not nice thr wont be hype about it. And if thr is hype and it is not commonly found then only people who knows what 'literally' a smartphone is are the one who buys it which means if you go through previously 10 threads you can clearly see that it doesn't takes a brainer for you to buy this phone. Sorry for sounding rude but it's annoying to see some lame concerns sometimes. All it takes is some reading and common sense.

Since when AP set warranty from company? It is always from the shop you purchased. Ya I know. Samsung is of poor quality too. Both friend samsung charge with powerbank, straight died. But it will be hard to convince my parents otherwise about china products. But if I can buy the phone, then they won't say anything.

Exactly. That is my point. Even my Sony is make in China. All phones are made in China.

buy ori. Why? ori after service HAS to be better than AP warranty. Why? because ori set after sales warranty guys are usually more trained professionals. Ok one might argue and say no AP set will be sent to hong kong and then over thr the pros will fix blah blah, well it is MORE time consuming. If you wanna be more on the safe side and IF by chance you get unlucky and ur set need to send back for RMA or repair. It will be handled by professionals in Malaysia only and you will get it back comparatively earlier than AP set.
