Been a while we've reviewed here on the immense crisis of Mattel toys and the market in general. But this time Mattel could worsen what was already bad: the results announced at the end of the second quarter of 2014, the numbers recorded that there was a decrease of 8% in sales in the American market, and 9% in the rest of the world. This is something shocking, since the international market was still holding on sales of Mattel.

Another interesting fact is that sales of Barbie fell 15%, showing definitively that the girls are changed. Sales of other products for girls, Monster High dolls, are still at a good level.

The bad numbers are nothing new, since it is only to look around to find that children today prefer mobile phones, tablets and video games, and that there is a serious global crisis that hinders you to buy traditional toys like they used to. Mattel's attempt to turn the tables is launching a line of building blocks (Mega Bloks) to compete with Lego, but this also is not working.
