QUOTE(eugene88 @ Jun 30 2014, 08:50 PM) Will my i3 2120 bottleneck my R9 280 X crossfire? currently, yes however in the future, as direct translation is being theorized and emphasized on future gaming, cpu might have little or no impact on the translation process a.k.a rendering tl;dr yes, it will bottleneck, it's time to whack your wallet/bank account

QUOTE(eugene88 @ Jun 30 2014, 09:37 PM) I think, anything that's in i5 league is the sweet spot for gaming, beyond that is either you're gonna need the extra cores for some software.

QUOTE(eugene88 @ Jun 30 2014, 09:37 PM) Or wait for Broadwell? Would suggest keeping and saving your money until you could get the highest end or 2nd highest for cpu. 3 years ago I simply go all out and just get the damn Intel i7-3930K. Hexacore damn gooding and until now still good. Save and get the best would be the best option. Yes newer technology would be good as well. But aim for a high one so you should never need to upgrade at least for a decade or something This post has been edited by Rei7: Jun 30 2014, 09:41 PM

QUOTE(eugene88 @ Jun 30 2014, 09:44 PM) Need to get external cooler if OC? Or stock cooler is enough? preferably 3rd party coolers, stock cooler is not so efficient compared to them also, bear in mind you need at least a Z77 chipset motherboard to perform OC

Third gen i5 is more than enough for gaming. All the games out there now doesn't really fully utilize the extra core of i7. I would rather throw my bucks and focus on the GC which is the main component of gaming.
