Hi everybody, i had a 5 yrs old HAF 932, that i had it replaced with my new casing. But in someway i really think the HAF could do better than my new casing. I was thinking of redo it, and turn it to be BTX, but for me, my aim was to make it suit my usage and re use whatever accessory that i oredi had in stock. From the google search, saw some project (converting to BTX) and the look is impressive, but still slightly differ from what i had in mind.

I m relatively new, may be somebody out there along the way can throw me any suggestion suggestion for a HAF 932 build? it would be much appriciate. What i had in mind is Bold semi gloss black coating and improve the cable management on HAF..No specific theme whatsover however i would call it HAF 932 Reborn........

Anyway, nothing to loose, my new system is up running in the new casing and this will be my first experiment. My plan at this point of time were jus to refurb the casing to the best it can offer me............but no plan to install my system back ...........yet, let see how it goes first.

Any suggestion for HAF 932, apart from some guy has done in this forum will be much appriciate.....

Yesterday i thought to giv it a try and started my project, My plan was jus to spend an hour or two daily, but non specific due date to finish the whole thing as it only experimental anyway.......

What i had in mind is:

1. To convert it from ATX to BTX
2. Modify Window Panel on both side (add tempered glass and do something with ori metal mesh)
3. Modify MOBO back board (make it easier to mount cpu cooling block) and custom water cool, ready for 2x240mm or 360mm + 240mm
4. Able to support atleast 4 internal hdd/sdd + 1 cdrom drive + watercool pump or reservoir.

PHASE ONE - PAINT REMOVAL AND PREP (27/7/2014)

First and foremost of course, dissambling the whole thing, including removing all the rivert point, was so consumed with all the work till forgot to take some pic. Neway nothing unusuall, it is almost the same for all casing. Then got myself some paint removal solution (a king of strong acidic solution), fine cooper brush and started my paint removal work.

All clear to the bare metal........
Attached Image Attached Image

the bare metal will need some fine sanding to remove any sharp edges, paint residue and shoud make it easier for new coating to stick on it........sorry no pic, i did some wet sanding, dont want to hold the phone with wet hand whistling.gif

PHASE TWO - RECOATING (28/72014)

Manage to clean the whole thing yesterday, all the parts r now at the coating workshop. Wow I dont know they hav quite a number of color to choose, but amazingly the workshop does hav coating as the ori color and texture........yes u can even add texture to it. they told me should be ready by Monday or Tuesday, since my parts is too little their oven, so not economical..........so hav to wait cry.gif

hehehehe here some pics after came back from coating

i had all the hdd mount removed so that i can mount a 240mm radiator, so now i need a new hdd cage that would fit in as many hdd as possible by utilising the 5.25 bays. I found this

Attached Image

it should fit in 5 x 3.5 hdd, and the red handle look matching enough for my build..........but the rear is plain ori metal non coated,......hhaaiiissshhhh

So order it anyway, dismantled and send for coating......fullstop

after instalation to the casing, this is how it look

Practically the case is ready, but since this is only an experiment...........why not go abit further. I had this Phobya 200mm radiator, i got it as a trade off for some of my old item, 200mm rare and interesting, initially ithought it suppose to go in the front of the HAF 932 where the 200mm fan is, but unfortunately it is not. here how it look

fortunately i still have a set of this xpsc mounting bracket

so i planned to setup the radiator here, as the only place i can fix it

marking

drilled and making m3 thread

.......the result......

yup it is facing wrong direction, jus for the installation purposes

The rad was used and got some scratches, since it is going to be mount outside of the casing, i thought better for me to send for re-coating the whole thing, hopefully it will look nicer and more durable ..........i might have and idea how to make it look better.............just wait and see hmm.gif

as for now, i m planning to install my photon 170 reservoir + pump in this case but unfortunately the space is too limited as the mobo will be occupying most of it mobo board panel. as u can see from the pic below, the mobo board is too close to the edge of 5.25 bays mounting and the hdd bays is slightly protrude from the mounting....

Attached Image

....and i don't intent to use bay reservoir as my 5.25 bays is oredi limited

this is photon 170 combo if anybody curious to know

Attached Image

so after some consideration, i was thinking of adding some mounting pillar so that i can mount the photon somewhere more conveniece....... hmm.gif
for that purpose, i manage to find some used metal bar and 'L' brackets

Attached Image

after some measuring and cutting, i manage to fit in the bar nicely to the edge of bays mounting. i believe that is the best option to put it since it will serve as a support for the bays and disseminate weigh evenly between left and right side of the casing . here how it look

Attached Image

so now i hav to measure the the mounting for my photon, luckily xpsc do provide mount guide for me to prep the whole thing

Attached Image

i used the reference cooler cover from my faulty gtx2xx gpu as guide and template

Attached Image

after finish cutting and re arragement, i found that the gap between the bar and the 5.25 bays is too tight for me to rivet the 'L' bar, so i guess i hav to look for some precision welder

here is some update pics

the border between red and black need some touch up work.....but it is minute touch up.
.....i had to abandon the photon reservoir + pump.........as my strix cooler is too long and got no space for the photon tube

then i proceed with some water cooling loop, unfortunately i didnt snap any pic while work in progress but here is the pic while doing the leak check

hi bro, the coating workshop is here in butterworth just 5 minutes drive from, but i had to remove the ori paint first otherwise the finishing is uncertain.......the coating i m using is abit thick, better resistance from scratch. they almost all type/texture or color, but price u got to pm me la bro, but they only do coating. it is cheaper but u hav to prep the whole thing first.

Nice water block & nice bending there. imho, ur monster rad should be at bottom, its blocking the view smile.gif. Then u can place ur photon at top horizontally smile.gif. Just my 2 cents tongue.gif

thanks bro, u did a nice tubing urself thou. As for ur suggestion i did consider to put the monsta at the bottom, but either the radiator or my Ax1200i is a bit too long, there wont be enough space for the psu cables (which is going to be custom sleeved cable). The fact is, now i got another alphacool xt45 360mm which i intended to replace the monsta pretty soon. I will run aida64 on both configuration to see the outcome. At the moment this setup has supersede single coolgate G2 480mm on my previous setup.

............probably by then, i might hav space for the photon at the bottom OR make it totally unconventional photon on top of the case (externally)..... hmm.gif

the advantages for the present setup is that i got a good drainage at the rear and i can remove any of the fan or radiator without having to dissemble the whole thing (may be jus the gpu).
