I'm glad we got Rickie Lambert. I believe he will play his heart out for us and add many goals and assists. Happy that our LFC owners approved the acquisition of this 30+ years old.

Thought of this when I saw the Holland v Mexico game. Hey, our Mr Duracell is still a starter and he was no liability either. I thought he played a disciplined and steady game for the Dutch out on the left. Players like Kuyt may be over 30 but they are so dependable.
*
If LVG is going to play the same tactic for MU like how the Dutch team is playing, it will be quite boring which will be good for us.

I don't see any flair or fluidity vs when the manager was Van Basten/Marwijk and Van Persie (apart from the 1st game) he was really under utilized.

The only person running the show was poor Robben. Dribble up and down but no one to pass to.

Lallana's switch is taking quite long huh? Heard he was already at the medical check up stage.

+1. Just look at scum's targets this summer for their rebuilding. Arturo Vidal, Nigel de Jong, Herrera. All continental big names.

Here we are targeting "young upcoming talents" on the pretext of being prudent; and yet we splashed so much money in the already inflated British market like Lambert and Lallana. IIori, Borini, Luis Alberto, Assaidi, Aspas all failed to make an impact in Liverpool so far.

We were lucky we have Suarez to fill in the scoring boots of Torres, all these rhetorics" No Player is Bigger than the club"; it's easy to shout but if anyone of you remember all the pain and money we wasted before we found Torres, u will realize it's not easy to find a good striker in the market.

It's very convenient to say Suarez disgraced Liverpool with his biting antics, blame it on media pressure, the club is constantly harangued by Real and Barca agents, but the club as a whole needs to look at the mirror themselves for their failure to retain key player's in the last decade. Why good players feel very inclined to leave the club for greater shot on glory?

McManaman, Owen, Alonso, Mascherano, Torres, and now Suarez. Who's next? Raheem Sterling?
*
Weird that with all the non-productive signings, we still had one of the best seasons finishing 2nd which was way above the top 4 target.

So what if teams sign continental names like Ozil? Meh

Thank you, Marlick. Took the words right from my mouth. Just to add on (so that fanboys will not go into RAGE mode) iIt will be unfair to ignore the contributions from other players like Sturridge, Sterling, Henderson and Skrtel n Gerrard.

I'll phrase it this way, Suarez' form galvanized the entire team, no denying this.  We were like scraping 1-0 wins wih the Jeckyll and Hyde performance during his suspension..remember?

A bit worried to see how we will cope without our Talismanic striker and the hectic schedule that CL brings in, getting 2nd is a great achievement indeed.....

But to maintain the form and continuity next season and to build from that success, to me, that's when the REAL TEST begins for BR.
*
What I'm trying to say is, even if you sign an Ozil the assist wizard, he MAY still end up having less assists than Steven Gerrard, who many non-Reds claim to be over rated.

And finally, not all big names we think are good will perform well in the team we watch on every weekend on TV.

Well we are buying now because we have the money. I thought we have 60m for transfer this season? Is either him/Shaqiri if I m not wrong.

Lallana+Emre+Lambert only cost us around 40m

He is definitely not a replacement for Suarez in terms of goal scoring.
*
The only replacements I see who can replace Suarez in terms of goal scoring will not play for Liverpool now.

And there are only a handful of them really. CR, Messi, Costa, Ibra, and maybe Falcao. Unless Liverpool starts winning next season, I don't think any of them will play for us.

Edit : Add Aguero and Bale into the mix as well.

Winning? Dont need winning.. just show them money.. sure coming.. like that one mid table team..
*
That's the problem in the first place isn't it? We don't have money. And if I'm not mistaken, our owners primary vision is to make LFC a profitable club by spending wisely and from there receive more revenue from winning competitions, and spend from the revenue of winning competitions.

Thats sound like want to become another Arsenal? God help LFC please no 9 years without trophy curse..

Okay, can you name me 1 occasion where John Henry said we will spend on a 40M player without selling a player?

Maybe I wasn't clear with my point. I was saying we are not Man City, Zenit, Chelsea or PSG.

1. We won't have money to wave at players.
2. We haven't won something major and were out of UCL for a long time.
3. With the sale of Suarez, we may have another problem because big names want to play alongside big names. With Suarez gone, our big name left is Gerrard.

QUOTE(Wonka @ Jul 7 2014, 12:01 PM)
It's quite hard to replace a 30 goals scorer with any other than mentioned. Probably what we need now is players who can score at least 10+ goals pairing with Sturridge. I think the best bet now is Sanchez or maybe Pedro. With Suarez's sale income we can get both. With all due respect to the mentioned striker names, they wont join a mediocre team like Liverpool (yes for now we are mediocre) unless they're consistent in becoming an Europe elite which we have not been for the past years.

Liverpool has had a very good season last year but will it be consistent? Remember when we were 2nd in the league and they only sold Alonso (1 player) to Real and look where are we the next? 7th? 8th?

What we need now is consistent scorers who can provide at least 10+ goals. Lukaku and Bony would be a good choice. Why not put in Cavani as well.
*
Definitely, I too hope we can have 10+ goals strikers in the team and proportionately contribute to the team. I like Sanchez. Seems like a workhorse, consistent and an honest player. As for Pedro, he dives as much and as theatrically as Suarez but he's crap compared to Suarez.

Would you have paid 24mil for untested, unproven Suarez or 50mil for Torres ?
*
To be fair, we got both Torres and Suarez at about 20-25M and both of them were already stars for their club and country. Both captained their team and are adored by their fans.

75 m and the cash of selling out players.. why not?
*
1st of all, why would they (Yaya, Kompany, Hart) leave a team of international stars, high wage, and join an underdog?

Furthermore, we lost Suarez, probably our only 2 great players including Gerrard.

Suarez will not join Spurs even if they have 100mil. The only option for these players is to go to a bigger club - and for Man City, the bigger clubs will only be Barca/RM/Bayern/ or maybe Juve.

Unless they are old and not getting any game time, that is the only time they go to a smaller team.

First of all, FYI, we are 3 point of Mcity on our last campaign. Second, Yaya already hinting wanna leave, Mcity just bought new GK wanna challege Hart coz last season he not stable. And for Kompany, he is the player that i would throw money to to get our defense to reduce 30 goals allowed instantly!
*
1 clear example - Alexis Sanchez. Why not Liverpool?

It's not just because we have money to splash, or end up 3 points behind the champs, players will come.

And we got 75 mills. Please spend it wisely on quality players. Not overprice englishman or expected future star (potential ability).
*
In your pic, there is 1 overprice Englishman.

I'm pretty sure BR would know best about overpriced BRITISH players (Carroll, Downing, and Adam) after having to offload them, inheriting them from King Kenny.

at least we can make request to Mancity right? like we did to bony, and any other player/team. But we didn't even bother to ask.
*
Yes, then we definitely should request for Schweinsteiger, Kroos, Falcao, and Ibra too since we 75mil can probably get 1 or 2 of them. Direct replacement for Suarez and 1 for Gerrard.

Yup, instead, we inquest for bony?Jay Rod? Lovren? BR should try better than that, we have bloated Midfielders already just 1 world class Striker, 1 full Back and 1 Center back enough.

yeah la, i know, very frust like that you know. we still got until end of august before windows close. Hope can get at least one world class players to join us. Adra Turan anyone?
*
Of course, I'm just as disappointed with the signings so far except for Lallana. But I trust BR knows what he is doing from what he did to Sterling, Coutinho and Henderson. Plus how he managed Suarez.

If not, he hopefully he has learnt or will learn from the bad signings like Aspas. What I'm happy is that the owners are supporting him.

Next season will be the first season he fully manage a team in UCL and challenge for title. It will definitely be challenging..

Sorry, but i think Lallana is a quality signing. He's quick, passes well, good link up play, and has great vision. Does the Cruyff turn well too!

All he needs is to gel well with Sterling, Coutinho and Henderson.

Great scorers come and go.

Keegan, Dalglish, Rush, Fowler, Owen, Torres, Suarez.

We replaced all of them, 1 better than the previous. These players stand out, but we are never a 1 or 2 men team.

No need to panic.
