QUOTE(AnythingK @ Jul 4 2014, 04:40 PM) Don't you think you misunderstood him? Its not the end, but we might suffer big damage, and we might become Spurs 2.0. Yea, *might*, every Liverpool fans will not want that to happen. Yes, it is a big loss for Liv that if Suarez leave, but there is nothing much the club can do, if the player wish to leave. After all, at least Suarez did accomplish a mission for the club that Liv now back to CL. Both party said thank you and move on. Players come and go. No player forever stay in one club, except few like Carra and Gerrard. From Rush, Fowler, Owen, Heskey, Kuyt, Torres and now Suarez. The most important is the club instill a good set up, management, system, good coach that enable the club stay at top level. If after Suarez left and Liv finish 7th in the next year, then it just shows that the club has not improved as a team. Look at MU under AF, personnel change from Cole, Keane, Beckham, Van Nistelrooy, Ronaldo, Rooney, then Van Persie, still able to win the league in between. Spurs actually just drop 1 place from 5th to 6th and just 3 points less than previous season with Bale and without Bale, just a few transferred target may not as good as taught, which more about transfer fee issue or money well spent or not. |

QUOTE(AnythingK @ Jul 5 2014, 03:48 PM) Yea I did hoo haa back then hoping Lala could join us here, but come on not with that price, yes he is not one season wonder, yes he is on his peak, yes he is EPL proven. But still overpriced. No doubt about Suarez's contribution, and one of major factor that brought Liv up another step last season, This is what I always mean that yes, even when without Suarez we may have better win statistics, and yes statistics is the fact. But like what carloz mentioned there with what happen to all the 1-0 win. Nobody is saying other players is shit, and they are not important, just that Suarez literally lifted the whole team. And yes no player is bigger than the club, but we had to give credits to Suarez for his passion for every matches he played. Without Suarez next season, and with so many matches to play, BR is going to have hell of a work there. but this (the bolded part) is what manager has to do, aka transforms the club into top level, whereby the club is always able to change personnel while without major detrimental to the team performance. This is how AF brought up MU that become dominance in league and won titles after titles, players come and go and still the manager able to replace the player and replicate the performance the result. This is where Liv should aim for if want its glory day back become one of team that always can challenge on top. |

In real fact,
Spurs only dropped 1 place and 3 points less than season before after spending big in the last transfer window. With Bale 2012/2013 5th 72 points Without Bale 2013/2014 6th, 69 points. The difference is not actually that "big". |

QUOTE(TheRedRanger @ Jul 9 2014, 10:00 AM) Its the same story like last season.. Wenger is known very shrewd in players transfer, Arsenal made plenty of profit from player transfer, and one of few clubs that has good/profitable account book.La Liga buy Bale = Arsenal got Ozil La Liga buy Suarez = Arsenal got Sanchez Wenger might be a failure at game plan, but he is a genius in player trading.. But Arsenal has similar problem with Liv, in term of retain the good players they have. |

QUOTE(alidan @ Jul 11 2014, 02:05 PM) True. It's our first year back in the CL and our squad is very tiny compared to others. I guess right now the main priotity is to improve the depth squad rather than spending an x amount of money on a well known, well proven player. I beg to differ, the only important match is league and CL, which means extra 6 matches (group stage) as compared to last season.I just hope that BR can discover some gems from the signings and polish them into great players! Getting many average good player may not good enough to repeat the 2nd place finish as well as to replace a 30 goals + many assist contributed by Suarez. You need top player to drive the team forward sometimes, that enable the team to win something. Getting a 30 mil well proven player a lot of time is better getting 2 average good 15 mil rated players. |

Why Liv not go for Yaya, a midfielder who can score plenty of goals.
With Suarez gone, the most important is to sign someone that always has a sight on goal. |

QUOTE(Max_07s @ Jul 12 2014, 08:37 AM) Midfielders may be crowded, but currently, not many midfielders that can score a lot of goal one.Henderson, Lucas are not known for goal, so does Gerrard goal start to dry up, while Coutinho shooting may also not that good. So you need a midfielder can chip in goal to help out striker when they are on drought. Yes, wages may be a problem, but Liv urgently needs personnel that can score ten of goal at least per season, with Suarez departure. |

QUOTE(genjo @ Jul 15 2014, 02:32 PM) But from the stat, hardly many goals score, less than Skrtel last season... Since Suarez has gone, you need someone that can chip in many goals one, if not, nobody (apart from Sturridge) can score double digit goals, how to win many games? As BR team is not known for winning many matches with 1-0. |

QUOTE(genjo @ Jul 17 2014, 08:33 AM) LOL haters at kopitiam. Laughing at our lost. I don't mind the lost cause it was a game for the youth to learn. QUOTE(lp16 @ Jul 17 2014, 10:34 AM) Pre-season is more about fitness rather than results. Heck, who care if we lost, it's for the players to have a run out and fans to see their team play. Whether youth or fitness, it just show they (the youth) are not good enough.Remember when LFC came here few years back? They came with no big names (except Carroll) but who cares! Players have a long rest during WC. Those played in WC given extended break. Rusty and lethargic is normal. Chill and enjoy the show! If the player is indeed good, lack of fitness still can win comfortably against lower rank team. Don't look down on the pre-season friendly, I did remember Liv lost many matches during pre-season friendly under RB time in one year, the end result? Liv had a bad season. This is not the like this is the first day training, players should build up some fitness level already. If the next few matches pre-season that Liv can't win comfortably (especially when first XI coming back), then it will be big worry for the new season. |

QUOTE(bearbear @ Jul 19 2014, 01:33 PM) As far as I read, it is not a straight 14 mil.The word used is "could ultimately be worth". http://www.espnfc.com/story/1953943/liverp...-million-pounds QUOTE Liverpool are set to sell striker Fabio Borini to Sunderland in a deal that could ultimately be worth 14 million pounds. |

QUOTE(koolspyda @ Jul 20 2014, 11:22 PM) I won't hold my breath for a marquee signing at LFC for the coming season. By the looks of it, we probably will play exactly like last season, all out attack, with a little tightening at the back in playing to plug goals scored against us. To be fair, there is not many "marquee" signing available, and not the "marquee" signing players may not want to come as well.We won't be able to replace Suarez, I don't think BR is looking to directly replace 'Suarez'. He will have a play that we won't /have to rely on the likes of Suarez. The responsibility of scoring goals will be shared by all. (It's tough to replace Suarez amount of goals, we all know that) Everyone will think we might do a spurs coming season but some will point that be did succeed in a way without having the services of Suarez in early part of the season & several big games. Some hinted that perhaps BR can be the new wenger (younger) [cough] I don't know, maybe BR can do it, FSG seems to think BR is capable to do it. Even ex LFC players are in full support that BR will be able to achieve it, and hopes all LFC fans to will support Rodgers. YNWA The most important is to set up a good system and management that drive the club forward, you cannot always rely on 1 or 2 players to carry the team throughout. |
