I'm glad we got Rickie Lambert. I believe he will play his heart out for us and add many goals and assists. Happy that our LFC owners approved the acquisition of this 30+ years old.
Thought of this when I saw the Holland v Mexico game. Hey, our Mr Duracell is still a starter and he was no liability either. I thought he played a disciplined and steady game for the Dutch out on the left. Players like Kuyt may be over 30 but they are so dependable.

Pre-season matches always carry risks to players. A few PL managers already complained about the schedule of such matches, implying that they are not supportive. Not surprising I suppose, that PL clubs have to fulfil a number of obligations to sponsors, advertisers, owners and fan clubs etc..
LFC is not any different. On the one hand, friendly games are for young and fringe players to impress and stake a claim but for the established players, it is like a two-edged sword : yes, they want to get fit by playing a few of these warm-up games but they risk getting injured by some over-eager players who are trying hard to impress their managers.
So, some of these guys got to take care and not try to go in for every tackle or every chance. These apply equally to older ones as well as those more 'fragile' ones.
Therefore I, for one, would just focus on the younger and fringe players and on tactics (if I can see them clearly that is) employed in such games. No big deal on the results.
