My first initial impressions of the #Moto360 .

So if you follow me, you know I'm a gadget junkie and I love all things Android. You would also know I recently posted a 'matter of fact' post (http://goo.gl/v2apnh), stating I was bypassing the 360 and waiting for Asus's version.

Welp, I was all day wrong, lol! That infamous trip to a local Best Buy, to 'check out' the 360 turned into a pacing back and forth session in the store. This included several calls to my boy +Ron Dennis, looking for help in making a decision...who didn't at first believe I was even in Best Buy, lol. Thanks Ron! I also reached out to my friend +Loren Ahrens, who has a 360 via Hangouts. Boy, the 360 in person had me conflicted, lol.

With that said, I pulled the trigger and purchased it. In the back of my mind, I was thinking I'd probably return it within the 14 day Best Buy return policy. Not! This watch is BEAUTIFUL! So here are my initial impressions.

I'm coming from the OG #Pebble...which I really loved. It had its quirks, but its creators are still working hard to continue to improve the OS and it has HUGE community and developer support. So the 360 has some big shoes to fill...which it does.

Picking up the display 360 model pretty much sold me instantly. It just looked good! The circular shape is extremely compelling. The 360 is lighter in weight than I thought. It also feels very well made and the leather band is just right. So right, I do not plan on swapping the band out...which I immediately did with my Pebble’s band.

Now I know there is a lot of online concern, about Motorola going with the 4 year old TI Omap 3630 processor. I was concerned too! However, the 360 performs just fine. The display model worked like a champ and I did not see any issues. Even after I installed all the Android Wear apps on my 360, it still did what I asked. Now there was an occasional slight delay and I mean slight, when calling up different functions. But not enough to be a deal breaker. Overall, my concerns about the processor has been put to rest. No buyers remorse there.

Next up, battery life. This was something I was also concerned about. My Pebble would last for days on a single charge and all I wanted from an Android Wear device, was a full days use. Which I got yesterday, on its first full day on my wrist!

After charging it overnight, I pulled the 360 off the charger at around 6:30a. I would say I had moderate use from text, Gmail, and Hangout messages, to alerts for college football scores, to a few phone call alerts, to showing it off to folks who asked about it (yes, someone thought it was the new Apple watch, SMH), to setting up a few new Android Wear apps, to testing the voice functionality, and to just enjoying it. I finally decided to put it on the charger at about 10:30p, with 18% battery life left. I would consider that a full day. Win! No more worries there. Please note, my 360 came with the latest software (4.4W.1), which from my understanding aided in extending the battery life. Ambient screen was also turned off...which came that way by default.

Viewing the 360 in direct sunlight was just okay. It was not like my Pebble, with its e-ink display. Still not enough to be a deal breaker. Yeah, that ‘flat tire’ thing...didn’t even notice it anymore after a few minutes.

My only complaint is the vibration motor. It is fairly weak. I missed some alerts, because I did not feel the vibration. Speaking of which, I found the vibration alert to work per app...not globally. So if you have your mobile device set on silent, make sure you have the vibrate option checked on the apps you want to ‘feel’ alerts from on your 360. Another thing, I never dropped the connection between my Nexus 5 and the 360...which happened a lot with my Pebble.

Overall, the 360 is very well made and the early issues reported online, did not seem to appear on my 360...not yet and I hope not. Android Wear is still in its infancy and has some areas it needs improvement. I am optimistic about the upcoming update next month...enough to keep me around. With that said, I am selling my Pebble and I have removed all associated apps from my Nexus 5 as well. Long live the Moto 360 and Android Wear!
