Im quite curious why is android wear such a battery hog? They should put more focus to making the platform last for at least 3 days or more. Samsung did it when they switched to Tizen OS while having the same battery as most android wear watches so its completely possible.
Also its interesting to know what will be the average lifespan for a smartwatch in terms of software support in the long run. Phones usually get at most around 2 years. |

QUOTE(zhou86 @ Oct 23 2014, 05:00 PM) And with the new update, you can download songs into the watch via the latest Google Play Music. am looking forward to try this, but but...motorola hvnt push the update to me yet Pair the watch with a BT headset and you can listen to songs even if your phone is DC-ed or dead. I believe the problem lies with the processor they are using are those found in phones, and android wear being the strip down android version? Also its interesting to know what will be the average lifespan for a smartwatch in terms of software support in the long run. Can't really increase the battery capacity much without sacrificing on the size (for the current tech) This post has been edited by psyeo: Oct 23 2014, 05:37 PM |

I believe for samsung gear live and its Tizen Gear 2 share the exact same hardware from processor to battery to screen resolution, thats what makes it so weird. When i first heard google is making an OS specifically for wearables instead of using a stripped down version of its own android OS, there seem to be hope as google would optimize it well and end the whole smartwatch battery problem..... clearly it has not... It better not be like this for the next couple of years, dont just implement new features where your own OS cant even handle a full day with the state its in now...Can't really increase the battery capacity much without sacrificing on the size (for the current tech) |

QUOTE(raymondtong94 @ Oct 23 2014, 04:17 PM) Lol, don't hurt we first gen users. We paid a lot for the device, and we all believe in updates to give a better user experience. Lol just kidding, i am getting mine too Thats the moment again where iSheeps will bash android users again. If im not mistaken, the iWatch is gold plated (gold version). So many dimwit love that plating because gold is elegant. I would like to see their gold iWatch ended up peeling the coating, making their watch looks horrible. These iSheeps just can't brain. 2 units on its way from US |

It better not be like this for the next couple of years, dont just implement new features where your own OS cant even handle a full day with the state its in now... Android Wear and Tizen are different. Android Wear is stripped down version of Android, that's why some hacker/developer able to run phone apps on Android Wear, there's even someone goes so far as to run Windows 95 or games on it because it's still full with Linux code ( Android based on it ). Tizen is build from ground up to be modular and customize, starting from most basic codes, it could add in features based on needs. So in simple words, Android Wear and Tizen move into wearable OS from completely different path. Tizen is much younger and started with flexibility in mind, thus able to run as light as possible. Android Wear was built in mind as companion to Android, thus strip down is the best way in. If Samsung kept adding features into Tizen, it will affect battery life. While Google will kept optimizing Android Wear, strip away codes to have better battery life. Looking at updates to Android Wear that improved battery life greatly, Google still working on optimizing. |
