Hello all. So basically I'm new to this hobby, but I've been collecting figures (Hot Toys) and Gundam for some years already. And I think its time for me to start collecting Lego as well, as I never play Lego when I was a child (damn poor. Haha)

So long story short, I'm very keen to purchase any ship Lego. I have 3 things in mind: Queen Anne's Revenge, Black Pearl and Metalbeard ship. I saw Queen Anne's Revenge at Amcorp, damage is 1600. Is it worthy to get it with that price? Any other good place to get Lego beside Amcorp Mall? Thanks in advance. biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Thanks everyone for the suggestion and replies. Yea, I am aware that QAR and BP production had stopped, hence the sky high price. Maybe I will go for Sea Cow and Imperial Flagship. Plus, RM1k+ for my first Lego is kinda high. Hell, this new hobby is more expensive than Gundam and Hot Toys. biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

I am generally more interested in classical ship theme. POTC theme suits my taste, but my wallet doesn't agree with it (and so does my wife). I will get Seacow or Imperical instead.

Thanks again everyone. :thumb:

I'm on mobile version - missed out on everyone's signatures!
I've semi-retired my Hot Toys collecting (future releases). I'm going to LEGO and smaller-scale action figures now. OMG.  icon_question.gif

Yea I just noticed that. doh.gif doh.gif doh.gif damn the imperial ship is awesome. i guess i just have to go for seacow instead. Or any Star Wars theme set. rclxms.gif rclxms.gif

I'm still keeping my Hot Toys and Gundam. Mainly because its easy to keep it (inside Detolf). which lead to the next question, how do u all keep your lego from dust? some of the sets are too big for detolf.

So yeah, finally went to Bricksmore last night and manage to get Lego Technic 42022 as my first Lego set. Agreed with my wife that we will put it together. woke up this morning, bam!, the completed Lego is on the table already. rclxub.gif rclxub.gif rclxub.gif

Overall the set is a nice one (according to my wife). Just that she have to reassemble the whole thing as the gear is not running as it should. Supposedly, the piston bar will move when the car move, but in this case, its not. Overall, nice set. thumbup.gif thumbup.gif

Makes me think, maybe after this my wife and I should buy different Lego for each other. hmm.gif hmm.gif

lol yea. Maybe her way of revenge as before, I'm the one who build Gundam, and all she can do is watch. Haha

Yea thinking of adding more Technic set. I have few in mind, mainly 42026 and 42027. Maybe will throw in 75040 as well.

Will collect money to buy bigger set later! biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

-edited- Just wondering, based on your experience, does the price for the Lego set sold at Lego shop (Bangsar and Curve) is cheaper or more expensive than normal shop? I'm very sure the re will be a lot of varieties at the Lego Shop, but how about price wise? From what I scout, the price is more or less the same for shops at Amcorp and Bricksmore.

RRP all the same. Only diff is that LEGO shops have more varied stock (some not available at other traditional retailers) and they seldom (if ever!) have sales  sad.gif  sad.gif

I see. I'm sorry for keep using Gundam as reference (cos I've been collecting it for some time), but for Gundam, the RRP (the one at Toys r Us, Jusco etc.) Are higher than retailers price. About more than 50% mark up. Does the same rule applies to Lego as well? Example, price at Toys r Us, Jusco compared to retailers, such as Bricksmore?

I see. So this new hobby of mine need more scouting and more alert to sales. Unlike Gundam, where I can happily shop at one shop only coz it gave the cheapest price. Haha.
So basically not much difference in prize. Just that major retailers have sale, which I need to focus more to get more bricks with cheaper price. biggrin.gif
Now my wife is asking me to buy for her Lego LOTR: Pirate Ambush. Die lah me.

Nice. Thanks so much for the guidance guys. Actually I prefer real shop rather than online shop, coz I'm very particular about box condition. So far, my fav shop is Bricksmore (very close to my house) and all those at Amcorp mall.

Actually my wife is more interested in the minifig. Me on the hand, more to ship, pirate ship to be precise. QAR is too expensive for me, so maybe I will opt for LOTR Pirate Ambush instead. Most probably will focus more on Technic line, trying to collect the whole series.

I will try to upload the pic when I'm back at office. Currently I'm online using phone. Haha. Computer at house KO already, so I will use my office computer to upload pic later.

There's also the Sea Cow if you're into ships  biggrin.gif

One of my target too! Haha. But kinda pricey for me. Maybe I'll go for Technic first. Then ships, and some SW sets. Architecture also kinda nice.

Edit: Whooopppsss, just read an article on LEGO heists  biggrin.gif  i guess they CAN be considered investments. just wish it wasn't so though - that just pushes the price up on older sets  shakehead.gif

I'm interested to get the whole S12 minifigs, but I malas wanna picit2. I read somewhere that one whole box contains 3 full sets with some extra. The thing is, I don't have any friends interested in kongsi purchase with me.

So I would appreciate it if ada someone here who would like to share with me to buy the whole box, and we can sell of the extra, and divide the money among ourself.

One quick question to all the taiko(s) here, do you all know where/how to get those display box to store/display the lego set + to keep it away from collecting dust?

Just completed Lego The Tumbler 76023 hence hunting for display box  smile.gif

IMO, if u are willing to fork out more than RM150 for a display box/cabinet, why don't you get yourself a Detolf instead? Last time i bought it, it was RM170+. Based on Ikea website, seems like they have stock in store.

Checked out the DAISO @ Pavillion. Definitely no case that will fit the Tumbler 76023 as they only have those for keeping mini figs  sweat.gif
Will need to ask/check around for sources/shops for sure  hmm.gif
Not possible for that due to limited space in the room  sweat.gif

At the moment, I am only keeping it in my book shelf with the glass door closed to avoid dust  sweat.gif  sweat.gif

Well, my suggestion is that u get the customized display box, put some batman TDK logo at the bottom as a background, put up a wall shelf, and display it there with pride.

May I ask where's your location btw? If u are at Klang Valley area, they are one arcylic shop at Puchong.
