Not a bad outing to mighty utan.. my first visit looted 670 parts @ 500gm = rm100.  Thats <15 sen per part 

seriously its hard to dig for needed parts. if only they separated the parts into JUST 2 or 3 category ...... my life would be much easier.

the small parts are buried underneath the bigger ones.

10242 is a great set.. very enjoy building this set, 95% smooth surface

if really wanna complaint, the steering is too near to the driver seat, and there is a gap on the door with the car body.. other than that it's a very solid and awesome build

Current year big sets, yes. I think most are motorized.
I categorize into 3:
- Big : 42030, 42025, 42009, 42008, 9398, 8110, 8043,
- Medium : 42023, 42024, 42006, 42000,
- Small : 42004, 42005, 42007,


However, do not expect the motorized to compare like true RC, it's totally different.

Dig dig and found it...

Servo motor at mid-front, it fits perfectly, but need to shift 1 stud to the front. Direct on the steering rack. This is the best location for best control. Some put servo/motor at the upper cabin, but with all the gears, the control is not precise.


Another angle of the servo-motor. I pimped the wheel to black (from 9398) and add a hub-cover to look more rugged.


XL-motor at mid-rear. This is a perfect location with minimal mod. Only remove 1-2x cross beams, but the motor + pins will hold the chassis frame very very sturdy.


Change all the gears at wheel hub to lower gear ratio.


Added an IR receiver, temporary location.


A very rough video, sorry, I'm not a pro. The battery box can still remain at original place, or to mod into the bucket, but I did not do it yet.


There are further possible modification for the tipper bucket, but my goal is to RC it only.

Got some time, elaborate a bit.

Servo or motor - got pros and cons. Servo will be like on/off switch (refer video above), you'll encounter like in the Volvo model later. Motor is more linear, but slower response.
To put in servo, need to nearly dismantle the whole front chassis, including the engine block. Putting it back, requires scratching head, hair loss and refering build-manual.
Also, shifting the lower-chassis components 1-stud to front, requires a few minor liftarms/connectors/pins mod here and there.
Possible to replace servo with M/L motor only at this location. XL cannot fit. But if not servo, be prepared for grinding gears sound.

XL-motor at back is easier to dismantle the rear mud-guard and chassis. There is already a hole and axle to plug into middle chassis box.

Changing the gear ratio from 12:20 to 8:24, I recall need to replace the 3x3 L-shape thin liftarm into 2x 1x3 thin liftarm, otherwise the 24-tooth gear can't fit. So, there are a bunch of gears and small liftarms need to order. As seen in video, even with lowered gear ratio, it moves quite fast, similiar like 9398. I prefer crawling speed.

Original 8110 full functionality remains. RC crawling/climbing ability is not as good as 9398 4x4, probably due to tyres, weight and 2x4 only.

I mean I have been there almost 20 times over the past few months and honestly, I didn't experience any of that.

I mean, they were ok enough to me, as I was really blur the first time. Which counter to bring form to, then which counter to collect the box, meet customs, inspect, show invoice, make declaration form, chop, pay, chop, get back pass etc. I was even stupid enough to almost carry out the box thinking its tax free after picking it up from the store the first time without letting the customs inspect!

But all was quite smooth. And then after a couple of times, they recognized me and we just chit chat while I am going through the entire process every time (the proper full process, which sometimes took me 1.5 hours as there were just too many people).

Bro, does the custom send you any notification/letter to inform about the custom inspection for your package? I am not getting any notification/letter, just check with the POS Malaysia with the tracking ID, they mentioned my item is under custom inspection.

Short story long, I've been there also, but deal with FeDex/DHL related (forgot). Left turn after Tune Hotel, register and drive at airport tarmac to the cargo complex about 1km inside. Recall long time ago, Transmile was there also. Lucky I did not have a Grand Theft Auto 4-star wanted achievement fetish and start driving towards the runway 

Anyway, back to story, there are Customs officials there also. Wait wait wait, whole process about 1-2 hours. No bribe, just pay as per receipt. But there are only a few people but take so long. No kopibin/setapak coffee there also.

Problem is as mention: the distance, petrol + toll and time. After some time, just pay the extra RM50 to poslaju, fedex, dhl, etc. as runner fees, on top of the taxable amount.

Hahaha i only made the head out of some epoxy putty i bought from ace   body wise i used a normal minifigure.

was intending on using the minifigure of woody from toy story as its longer and resembles more of groot .

Gonna try to make a more accurate one and maybe by then i'll consider taking orders for custom made groots
