QUOTE(yhlee12 @ Aug 16 2014, 03:25 PM) I don't think I'll be getting one for myself but don't mind do a bulk order if many people here wants it. However, I already checked and have been warned by my supplier that he is already swamped with orders for this set and told me to be prepared to wait 1-2 months for the stock... Again this is a big box, same or nearly the same size as the Technic Volvo so shipping this beast over here is going to be expensive. QUOTE(alanyuppie @ Aug 16 2014, 05:08 PM) Not a bad outing to mighty utan.. my first visit looted 670 parts @ 500gm = rm100. Thats <15 sen per part Can't wait to see what you are going to come up with next!! seriously its hard to dig for needed parts. if only they separated the parts into JUST 2 or 3 category ...... my life would be much easier. the small parts are buried underneath the bigger ones. QUOTE(Ah WanG @ Aug 16 2014, 05:30 PM) 10242 is a great set.. very enjoy building this set, 95% smooth surface Thanks for sharing the poison! if really wanna complaint, the steering is too near to the driver seat, and there is a gap on the door with the car body.. other than that it's a very solid and awesome build » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « QUOTE(kelvinlym @ Aug 18 2014, 03:55 AM) Just came back from Hanau, and filled up my car at Shell to take advantage of the Lego promotion. lol! This is a good one! Look what I found at the back of the polybag. ![]() It seems like it's leftovers from Malaysia's promotion 2 years ago. QUOTE(kelvinlym @ Aug 18 2014, 02:33 PM) Oh no! UCS Tumbler only limited to 1 per customer. Also, it seems like there is no early access to VIP. Just preorder. Or maybe because US is still on 17 Aug? But Germany already 18 Aug. Sigh. Am not surprised with the limit, this is going to be another hot item so demand will outstrip supply. However, first time I hear that Lego S@H do pre-orders? |

QUOTE(501-Elite @ Sep 3 2014, 10:13 AM) Call Amazon.com, QUOTE(cute_boboi @ Sep 3 2014, 11:11 AM) Current year big sets, yes. I think most are motorized. If I may just add a little to that, motorised does not necessarily means you can remotely control the vehicle like an RC car. In fact, most models do not come with RC function, meaning you have to throw a switch to drive the motor.I categorize into 3: - Big : 42030, 42025, 42009, 42008, 9398, 8110, 8043, - Medium : 42023, 42024, 42006, 42000, - Small : 42004, 42005, 42007, However, do not expect the motorized to compare like true RC, it's totally different. Sifus here pls correct me if I'm wrong but I make a simple summary below of the sets that I owned: 42030: Full RC function for driving, steering and control of the bucket. 42009: Motorised function via toggle switch for extension and lowering of the outriggers, lifting and extension of crane arm, and control of winch. 9398/41999: Full RC function for driving and steering. 8110: Motorised function via toggle switch for control of the articulated crane and grabber, and the front winch. 8043: Full RC function for driving, turning and digging. Hope this helps! QUOTE(maxilife1 @ Sep 3 2014, 11:18 AM) I'm not a die hard fan but UCS models are always great so Lego got my money again... ![]() |

QUOTE(cute_boboi @ Sep 3 2014, 12:30 PM) Dig dig and found it... Servo motor at mid-front, it fits perfectly, but need to shift 1 stud to the front. Direct on the steering rack. This is the best location for best control. Some put servo/motor at the upper cabin, but with all the gears, the control is not precise. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Another angle of the servo-motor. I pimped the wheel to black (from 9398) and add a hub-cover to look more rugged. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « XL-motor at mid-rear. This is a perfect location with minimal mod. Only remove 1-2x cross beams, but the motor + pins will hold the chassis frame very very sturdy. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Change all the gears at wheel hub to lower gear ratio. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Added an IR receiver, temporary location. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « A very rough video, sorry, I'm not a pro. QUOTE(cute_boboi @ Sep 4 2014, 12:36 PM) Got some time, elaborate a bit. Thanks for sharing! Much to learn from the above!! Servo or motor - got pros and cons. Servo will be like on/off switch (refer video above), you'll encounter like in the Volvo model later. Motor is more linear, but slower response. To put in servo, need to nearly dismantle the whole front chassis, including the engine block. Putting it back, requires scratching head, hair loss and refering build-manual. Also, shifting the lower-chassis components 1-stud to front, requires a few minor liftarms/connectors/pins mod here and there. Possible to replace servo with M/L motor only at this location. XL cannot fit. But if not servo, be prepared for grinding gears sound. XL-motor at back is easier to dismantle the rear mud-guard and chassis. There is already a hole and axle to plug into middle chassis box. Changing the gear ratio from 12:20 to 8:24, I recall need to replace the 3x3 L-shape thin liftarm into 2x 1x3 thin liftarm, otherwise the 24-tooth gear can't fit. So, there are a bunch of gears and small liftarms need to order. As seen in video, even with lowered gear ratio, it moves quite fast, similiar like 9398. I prefer crawling speed. Original 8110 full functionality remains. RC crawling/climbing ability is not as good as 9398 4x4, probably due to tyres, weight and 2x4 only. And really it moved quite fast! I was amazed! haha! |

QUOTE(juneww @ Sep 10 2014, 05:02 PM) Anyone knew the location of the Pos Malaysia Custom? Is it near LCCT? Need to go there to pay custom tax to release my lego set... QUOTE(pugger79 @ Sep 10 2014, 05:05 PM) Yes. It is beside the LCCT. In between LCCT and Tunes hotel. Usually less packed in the morning. Usually.... Yes, that's the location but are you sure you want to go all the way there to clear it yourself? Time, petrol, toll etc.I had a very bad experience there many years ago to clear something for my company and I swear I won't go back again. |

QUOTE(pugger79 @ Sep 10 2014, 05:31 PM) Long story short: Forced to pay bribe to the customs officer. He wasn't even discreet about it either, instructed me in a very loud tone to go to the toilet, slip the money between the paper and return it to him... He made me pay the money to him even though I wanted to clear the goods through the proper channel... And I had to endure the humiliation from him throughout the whole process... So yeah, I will never go back there again. And I hope he gets arrested one day. |

QUOTE(pugger79 @ Sep 11 2014, 12:20 AM) Damn...that's bad. How long ago was this? That was many years ago... maybe 2009-2010? I remember a few years ago there was a swoop on customs in that area so I hope that guy and his gang got arrested, probably after that it is not so dirty anymore...I mean I have been there almost 20 times over the past few months and honestly, I didn't experience any of that. I mean, they were ok enough to me, as I was really blur the first time. Which counter to bring form to, then which counter to collect the box, meet customs, inspect, show invoice, make declaration form, chop, pay, chop, get back pass etc. I was even stupid enough to almost carry out the box thinking its tax free after picking it up from the store the first time without letting the customs inspect! But all was quite smooth. And then after a couple of times, they recognized me and we just chit chat while I am going through the entire process every time (the proper full process, which sometimes took me 1.5 hours as there were just too many people). During my visit there was only one other person there to clear his goods. Maybe it's because of that the customs officer was very blatant to ask me for bribe... Anyway, one experience is enough plus the hassle to go all the way there it is just not worth saving the RM50. And to wait 1.5hrs after almost an hour car journey, no thanks! QUOTE(juneww @ Sep 11 2014, 12:41 AM) Bro, does the custom send you any notification/letter to inform about the custom inspection for your package? I am not getting any notification/letter, just check with the POS Malaysia with the tracking ID, they mentioned my item is under custom inspection. You should get a love letter from Pos Laju informing you that your stuff are stuck at customs. That's the form where you choose either to self clear your stuff or pay Pos Laju to clear for you... If self clear then you take that letter to customs at KLIA and show it to the Pos Malaysia staff (they have a little office inside the customs complex next to the toilet). The Pos Malaysia staff will pass to you the necessary documents needed to clear customs. After that go to the customs counter and let them direct you here and there...QUOTE(cute_boboi @ Sep 11 2014, 12:08 PM) Short story long, I've been there also, but deal with FeDex/DHL related (forgot). Left turn after Tune Hotel, register and drive at airport tarmac to the cargo complex about 1km inside. Recall long time ago, Transmile was there also. Lucky I did not have a Grand Theft Auto 4-star wanted achievement fetish and start driving towards the runway Yeah, just not worth the time and trouble. Pay RM50 to Pos Malaysia and pick up from your local post office. Anyway, back to story, there are Customs officials there also. Wait wait wait, whole process about 1-2 hours. No bribe, just pay as per receipt. But there are only a few people but take so long. No kopibin/setapak coffee there also. Problem is as mention: the distance, petrol + toll and time. After some time, just pay the extra RM50 to poslaju, fedex, dhl, etc. as runner fees, on top of the taxable amount. QUOTE(infiniti123 @ Sep 11 2014, 06:25 PM) Hahaha i only made the head out of some epoxy putty i bought from ace Awww... pls don't destroy Woody! I love him! was intending on using the minifigure of woody from toy story as its longer and resembles more of groot . Gonna try to make a more accurate one and maybe by then i'll consider taking orders for custom made groots QUOTE(kelvinlym @ Sep 12 2014, 01:39 AM) Thanks bro! I'm so excited! |
