Haha..... We're in the same boat except that I've been migrated from iPhone 4 to Mi3 very recently and successfully transferred contacts, messages and Whatsapp history.

Will skip the steps for Contacts since a few people already responded.

For Whatsapp, pls refer the link , http://www.wazzapmigrator.com/ which is using WazzapMigrator to perform the task.

Overall very happy with this new gadget, exceeded my expectations especially compared to my old iPhone.

You can use Mikey as a new button to turn the phone in silent mode instantly.
