Xiaomi unleashes the Mi-3, you pick Tegra 4 or Snapdragon 800
Xiaomi has revealed its MiPhone 3 (or just Mi-3) at a product event in Beijing today, just as previously expected. As recent rumors suggested, the device is powered by either a Tegra 4 with four Cortex-A15 cores (for China Mobile) or a Snapdragon 800 with four Krait 400 cores at 2.2 GHz each (for China Unicom). The Xiaomi Mi-3 will cost RMB1999 ($327) for the 16 gig model and RMB2499 ($408) for the 64 GB. The device will go on sale in China in October, after which it will start selling across Hong Kong and Taiwan. No word about the rest of the world, though.
The Xiaomi Mi-3 The device is very slender at 144mm×72mm×8.1mm and weighs only 145 g, has a 5" 1080p IPS dislay, Android 4.2.1 skinned with MIUI v5 and covers imaging needs with 13 MP and 2 MP cameras. We've seen previously seen a pre-release Mi-3 with a Snapdragon 800 do really well on AnTuTu. Here's the promo video of the Mi-3.
In case you have missed it, Xiaomi is the Chinese manufacturer that poached Google's VP for Android, Hugo Barra. He has already taken up his duties as a VP of Xiaomi Global this week and attended today's launch event. Here's a picture of him all happy in China.

Xiaomi Announces the MI3 - Tegra 4 and MSM8974AB inside by Brian Klug on September 5, 2013 2:58 AM EST
Xiaomi has been making some interesting news lately, first with the abrupt transition of Hugo Barra from Google to Xiaomi, now with the announcement of their latest high end smartphone, the MI3, at their New Product Convention 2013 event. What was interesting about the MI2 announcement last year was that it was one of the first to include Qualcomm's quad core APQ8064 SoC inside, and Xiaomi has included Qualcomm SoCs since the MI1 (MSM8660). I still remember my first experiences with the Xiaomi MI1 and the value prospect that the device made me realize existed with the right set of conditions, and how impressed I was with that hardware. With the MI3 Xiaomi goes to variants based on both Snapdragon 800 (MSM8974AB) and NVIDIA's Tegra 4 platform.
The WCDMA (China Unicom) and CDMA2000 (China Telecom) variants of the MI3 come based on Qualcomm's Snapdragon 800 MSM8974AB platform, while the TD-SCDMA (China Mobile) variant is based on NVIDIA's Tegra 4 platform.
Xiaomi makes the first (to my knowledge) public disclosure of MSM8974AB, which is analogous to the changes we saw between APQ8064 and APQ8064AB. From 8974 to 8974AB, Adreno 330 GPU clocks climb from 450 MHz to 550 MHz, LPDDR3 memory interface maximum data rates go from 800 MHz to 933 MHz, and the ISP clock domain (I think Xiaomi might mean the Hexagon DSP here) goes from 320 MHz to 465 MHz. 8974 comes in both a bin with the 4 Krait 400 CPUs clocked at 2.2 GHz (really 2.15 GHz) and 2.3 GHz (2.26 GHz) with slightly different pricing, while 8974AB comes with a Krait 400 clock available only at 2.3 GHz. Process is still TSMC 28nm HPM, but I suspect that the AB variant might have the high k dielectric and/or transistor mix tuned slightly differently based on a few rumblings I've heard recently.
It's safe to say that Tegra 4 hasn't been the overwhelming success that NVIDIA had hoped for, nor able to continue the momentum that Tegra 3 built, so winning a slot with Xiaomi MI3 is a relatively big deal, even if Xiaomi's slice of the Chinese market isn't very large yet. The TD-SCDMA variant includes Tegra 4's 1.8 GHz ARM Cortex A15 4+1 architecture with 72 core GeForce GPU built on TSMC 28nm HPL. We've written a lot about Tegra 4, and got a chance to look at performance in the NVIDIA Shield review and came away impressed with performance in that platform. Of course the real interesting question is how Tegra 4 will perform in platform with smaller TDP and available platform power. Xiaomi claims relatively similar performance between Tegra 4 and 8974AB variants in a few system benchmarks as well. If we get the chance the MI3 might make for an interesting vehicle to compare the two SoCs in almost the same platform.
I'm not sure whether the MI3 uses the discrete Icera i500 modem for TD-SCDMA. i500 is fully TD-SCDMA enabled, so there's no reason that NVIDIA couldn't have won the entire platform slot, but I haven't confirmed it yet. Update: We've confirmed that the MI3 isn't using the i500 modem.
Either way Xiaomi is an increasingly interesting player in the Chinese market and always seems to make SoC choices that interest us.

Xiaomi MiPhone 3 will come with either Tegra or Snapdragon processors by Aloysius Low | 5 September 2013 3:37pm SGT Xiaomi's latest Android handset, the Xiaomi MiPhone 3, will come in two flavors. Buyers can choose to either get the Nvidia Tegra 4 model, which sports a quad-core 1.8GHz Cortex A15 processor, or the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor clocked at 2.3GHz.
Most of the other specs are the same for both models, such as the amount of RAM (2GB), internal storage (16GB) as well as a large 3,050mAh battery. The Xiaomi MiPhone 3 will sport a 5-inch full-HD IPS display with a pixels-per-inch count of 441ppi.
Xiaomi is also boasting that the phone takes really good pictures with its 13-megapixel camera. The camera uses a Sony sensor and sports an F2.2 aperture, a wide angle of 28mm and a five element lens setup. It will also pack a dual-LED flash.
The Weibo account of the company posted a picture of image samples with very impressive looking shots that you can see below.
The Nvidia-based Xiaomi MiPhone 3 is set to launch with a price of 1,999 Chinese Yuan (US$326). The Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 version is set to debut with China Unicom and China Telecom while the Nvidia Tegra 4 model will launch with China Mobile. It will go on sale starting September 9 in China.

Xiaomi unveils new Android-powered 5-inch MI3, 47-inch smart TV in China HD By Richard Lawler posted Sep 5th, 2013 at 3:23 AM 66
We've had early previews thanks to leaks, but Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi -- more recently known as the new home of former Google exec Hugo Barra -- just took the wraps off of a new flagship Android phone and smart TV. The MI3 candy bar phone is available with either a 1.8GHz Tegra 4 processor (on China Mobile's TD-SCDMA network) or Snapdragon 800 CPU (the more powerful MSM8974AB variant; on China Unicom's WCDMA network and China Telecom's CDMA2000 network) that provide a 40 percent performance boost over the MI2S. It also sports a 5-inch 1080p IPS LCD built by Sharp or LG with "ultra sensitive touch" that works even when the user has wet hands or has gloves on.
Seeing how its local competitors are putting emphasis on the audio performance, Xiaomi pointed out that the MI3 features the Cirrus Logic CS42L73 DAC chip, which is apparently what the iPhone uses. Another surprise is that there's also Immersion haptic feedback, which adds some rumbling fun to games and certain UI elements. As for the cameras, the backside has a 13MP Sony IMX135 sensor with an F2.2 sapphire lens and dual LED, while the front side has a less exciting but adequate 2MP camera. Interestingly, MIUI's latest camera app will support RAW capture, as well as smart beautification by identifying the gender and age of the subjects in a shot.
Other bits of the phone include 2GB of LPDDR3 RAM, 16GB for storage (with a nice 120MB/s read speed), dual-band WiFi and NFC. Given the 8.1mm body thickness, the 3,050mAh battery is quite impressive (and the included charger provides fast charging with a 2A current), but only time will tell how well it lasts under those beastly processors. As for the price, the phone runs CN¥1,999 (US$330) for the 16GB version and CN¥2,499 ($410) for the 64GB, though only the China Mobile version (Tegra 4) has a mid-October date. Following the announcement of the MI3, CEO Lei Jun also decided to keep the 32GB MI2S (with Snapdragon 600) at a reduced price of CN¥1,799 (US$290), which is quite a drop from the original CN¥2,299 (US$380).
Xiaomi unveils new Androidpowered 5inch MI3, 47inch smart TV in China
Moving on, we have the 47-inch 3D-capable Xiaomi TV which is assembled by Wistron (who apparently also makes TVs for Sony), and it'll come in six colors for the aluminium faceplate. The body boasts an 8.4mm bezel plus 2mm to 4.8cm thickness thanks to LG's IPS and Samsung's SVA panels. Like the Xiaomi Box, the TV also runs the company's MIUI flavor of Android, supported by a quad-core Snapdragon 600 with 2GB of RAM, 8GB of storage, dual-band WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0. It even claims an "easy to use" remote with 11 buttons and Bluetooth. Shockingly, the TV will cost just CN¥2,999 (US$490) when it arrives in mid-October. [/spoiler]

1. rename 1_MI3_WCDMA_stable_root.zip to update.zip 2. put into root of storage 3. boot into mi recovery (u can boot into recovery by launching update app) 4. flash update.zip n restart
5. repeat the step (1 - 4) using 2_MI3_WCDMA_su.zip thats all
3. each setting can run specific app or action including unique function of miui for example, clean ram, take homescreen screenshot and enable/disable rotation
4. an additional in each setting we can add multiple action for an example --->1 click setting:- i. open gallery ii. open calculator it mean if u click mikey once, it will run both apps in that order.
--->to make it fun, u can add something like:- i. shortcut key. up to 4 shortcut can be assigned
ii. take a camera shot in 1 click, might be useful if u want to take a pic without no one notice (front or back camera are useable) or even a quick snap in standby mode iii. or maybe more, will be explore later..

I have to first warn you that i held no responsible to your device warranty shall anything bad happened to it. I'm only based on my using experience, trial and error and with some courage to test out the great features available for mi3. My review is just for the sake of reference and shall not liable to any bias and untoward incident.

here some tips from fb
Just to clarify some confusion here. Many people complaint that item sold out within mins.
The truth is you secure your item once you already filled up the details and click check out. It doesn't matter when you pay as long as payment is completed within 24 hours.
Here are few tips how to secure a unit for yourself.
First, login 30 mins before 12:00 to avoid server overloaded. If you login around 11:50, you might just stuck there.
Second, type your shipping address in advanced. Later just copy and paste to save up time.
Third, by 11:58 keep refreshing the item you want. After click buy, quickly fill up the details. Paste the shipping address that you have copied and press check out. Once you press check out, the item is yours.
P/S: Double check my order section if you have check out, but the cart is empty.
I managed to secure items that I want in previous three sales with this method
this doesn't applied anymore.
once you being prompt to choose 1x or 2x unit of PB, you have at least 3~5minutes to place order and it won't out of stock.
compare with 1,2,3batch, starting from 4,5,6 batch now when you click on "Buy Now" , it will become a "Queuing" system, once you inside the queue, you have few minutes to do your do, since some malaysian folk slow hand and brained keep complain in Facebook fanpage, Xiaomi malaysia make this happen.
IF NOT, none of us can't explain why the DIRECT link cannot be used anymore because it required a validation code = queue.

I managed to get the Mi3 Phones and Power bank. This time is much faster as many ppl are experience to buy it. I am willing to let go my unit if you are interested. PM me your best price.

i am not the xiaomi web dev, cannot explain to you
but definitely our mi.com/my now is using a queuing system which required verification code, so the 1st 5000 user who click on buy now will get the code then will get prompt for the Item selection screen. once 5000 code given, what you will get is "Out of Stock"

when i clicked on buy now, the website became nonresponsive. then i refreshed again, managed to enter the choose bundle page but then the verification code is missing appeared after i click next.
The real one should state as 小米活塞耳机 2 But your pic clearly shows that your one doesn't have the number 2 on that sticker, which means your one could be actually Piston version 1 instead of 2. Just my 2 cents.

Logically it works like that but then again if thats the case, those that already got into the queue need not CHECKOUT quickly? Because its only confirmed after checkout no?
I believe during the previous sale i did managed to get queue but it hanged, then after awhile i directly open the link and able to see 1 Mi3 in my cart and i successfully checkout around 12.45PM. Although i cant choose bundle

So use the phone now? until it dry out.. then charge it until full then ok d? Need sayang the phone
Try not to use till dry, as Mi3 had this battery protection system, if u use till dry the phone might take very long time to charge, try charge when battery down to like 15-20%

AP set - a set that imported from other region, as if u have issue with the phone warranty towards local service center will not be accepted however you are still good to go back to the same shop you bought the phone and they may provide repair service or send back to the respective country for repair. of cuz you need to bear the cost of shipping, etc.
local set lies everything here in msia and service center will take full responsibility during your warranty period, of cuz what we mention here is excluding the physical damage or water damage on the phone.

Just Waze that i am facing problem of not getting the map display and voice. it could be database problem.
Guys, i tried turned on GPS and Waze and let it sit there for more than 30 minutes just now with the hope that the map and voice database will be refreshed.
But, nothing happened after waiting for more than 30 minutes. I still cannot see the map and get the voice notification.
What should i do next ? Uninstall Waze and re-install again ?

You should try. Probably that helps. I didn't have that issue though, I just leave it for a few minutes and its ready, voice and maps.

suggest you may try run it under wireless internet connection or much better internet connection to fetch the data. Otherwise if this remain i think need some troubleshoot at your phone de.
jeremy posted confirm is not piston 2. piston only come with gold plated if his set is gold mean fake but if silver it might be real piston 1
The 1st link is the real one.
But the 2nd is the fake one. It's funny that that mod in miui forum who bought it wasn't able to recognize it.
It's quite easy to identify which one is real and which one is fake. Just look at the structure inside the box. The real one will provide a metal clip.

by listening to the sound quality, it is so easy to differentiate .... ..i alwaz prefer my customer to test on the spot .... i m keep 2units for my own use.... its so precious
i dont understand why u guys keep complain about fake earphone...
Just buy from Trusted Seller then dah la.... *ekhem..*
Confirm get the real one...
Always bear this in mind, good thing never cheap, cheap thing wont be good.
We all know that la, bro. But the problem is even some of the sellers themselves don't realize that they are actually selling the fake one.
I would suggest that whoever want to sell Piston 2, please do provide the real full pics of the product, the pics of the one that you are gonna sell, not the pics that you grabbed from the internet. Then we can take a good look and verify whether it's real or fake.
And yes, if anyone wonder, I ended up buying a fake one from the garage becoz I was too stupid for not doing my research before buying it.

I can't said is fake, but he do mentioned the one he selling is OEM made by another company call 1 more design. Fake mean, everything info include the info on the box or manufacturer are given fraud info.

Sorry but I am less confident now after my last purchase. Frankly speaking, I won't dare to buy any Piston 2 from the garage unless I can see the real pics. Perhaps you can provide the real pics of yours?

Don't think it's fake though most probably Version 2.0 . After some googling, apparently Xiaomi updated their Pistons but never announced officially, so netizens dubbed it Version 2.1 instead.
Maybe the guy's one was the older version, thread was in 2013 anyway

I can't said is fake, but he do mentioned the one he selling is OEM made by another company call 1 more design. Fake mean, everything info include the info on the box or manufacturer are given fraud info.
1more is the designer, original is designed b them
whatever OEM or OAM or OOM is fake like dunno what
eg: my car is not proton. it is pratan. Proton's OEM.
I just received my xiaomi 3 64gb after 3 weeks ....
Anyone know where to change micro-sim to mini-sim (the one that fits in to mi3)? or anyone know where t buy it?
Called up U-mobile, but apparently they don't know what is a mini sim lol.
Of coz they dunno what is mini sim as mini sim u mention is actually to be called "Micro Sim"(which is using on current HTC One, Samsung S5, Sony Z2 and previous Iphone 4/4S. the micro sim u tot is actually called "Nano Sim" which is currently only use on iphone 5/5S.
And for Mi3, in the phone it provide standard sim tray only. But xiaomi know that nowadays many ppl use "Micro Sim" already so they free us a Micro Sim tray as well. so you wont have any problem on fitting your Sim card into Mi3. For those using "Nano Sim" card like me then we have to buy Nano Sim to Micro Sim adapter which available in Garage Sales with price of RM8 only.
go telco immediately give u new card, but need to wait 1-2 hours for activation. U continue to use the existing card until u see no more line then put in new card will work

let me clarify piston 1.0 - silver color piston 2.0 - gold color - extra earbuds case printed with music logo, no metal clips, no L,R marking on earphone
piston 2.1(improved version of 2.0) - gold color + metal clips - extra earbuds case printed with S,M,L writing and L,R marking on the earphone
piston IF verison - gold color + IF packaging (metal clip, box, pouch)
how to identify fake piston 2.0 tips: fake piston2.0 provide extra earbud which doesnt fit nicely to the piston2.0, this is becuz the extra earbud provided are from piston1.0 (which the hole is smaller)

Ugh. I wanted to grab an Mi3 but didn't make it on time (~30 seconds) but I managed to grab 2 5K PBs within 50 seconds Everything else was sold out by then

the only difference between iF version and no iF , is the box... white box and chocolate box... it is not longer available ...even in china...
same earphone ...even in sound quality as told by xiaomi ....

no, they all upgraded to 2.1 liao and stop producing 2.0 version liao unless u buy from seller other than xiaomi.
Actually lots of 3rd party sellers still selling the old version (or V2.0) instead of the new V2.1. It's not fake, but old version la.
So it's up to the buyer to do some research about it as some sellers can choose to be sneaky about it & not tell the truth about which version they're selling (no pic of actual item to verify)

Jz wonder, is it really all mi3 and pb bought by Malaysian? It seems too unreal though...
5000 10k powerbanks / 2 per order = 2500 people or less if some get multiple orders. Malaysia has how many people? Do the math yourself.

No issue here. I've already spent thousands of ringgit this month using Paypal. I just paid for my PB not even an hour ago and it worked just fine.

Nice info. So now we got the fake one, the version 1.0, version 2.0, and version 2.1 (IF version doesn't count since it's already out of stock)
Just thought that i should add this as well.
That description sticker on the piston box. This is very important. Remember to check that sticker. The Piston 2.1 would provide the correct information as below:
The item name: 小米活塞耳机 2 (it must have the number 2. if no, then it's either fake or piston version 1.0)
The item should be 12g (the fake one and Piston 1.0 will say 11g instead)
The power will be 5mW (the 1.0 version got only 2mW)
The real one got 16 ohm. The fake one would say 12 ohm instead.
And the sticker would be pasted nicely. The fake one would paste the sticker "senget".

Either that online shop cheated on you by giving you the old version, or they simply put the wrong sticker. I dunno.
haha. too many version out there dy this confuse buyer, then they can sell buyer fake product and buyer doesnt know how to identify pulak
Does it matter if they sold 1K, 2K or 8K? Does it matter if it sold out in 5 or 10 minutes?
Nothing matters more than the price/spec.
Haters gonna hate... suits them.
yep, the spec and price makes Mi products worth to hunt for.. I would not encourage scalpers, but still if Mi3 sold at RM800-900 (compared to RM769 currently from the site) still worth to buy.. imagine if Xiaomi can mass produce the Mi3 and having unlimited stock can be ordered via the website, i think we will see many ppl around us using it, with right marketing strategy such as putting up big banners around town and TV commercials just like what samsung and Oppo did, it may surpass many other main player in smartphone market

Your first paragraph seems like contradicting with your 2nd paragraph.
Your 2nd paragraph is correct.
Your 1st paragraph mentioning mini sim is called micro sim and microsim is call nano sim is extremely confusing.
Mini sim is STANDARD sim. Micro is called micro throughout and was never referred to as mini in any case unless someone confused them.
Nano is never called micro in any case.
So when they don't understand what is mini, just said standard sim as used in prepaid card sim size.

I predict they will bypass Samsung/Sony/etc Android brand soon UNLESS those big brand change their strategy and sale same spec and price not much different
i have the the one exactly shown in your picture, just the name is 小米活塞耳机. So my is which version?
Version 1.0. Or the worst, it's fake. I dunno. Need to check with the rest of the description on your sticker, and also the content isnide the box. Anyway, yours definitely not Piston 2.
It's simple. Just like when you buy Samsung Note 2. The name on the product box would say Note 2. If the "2" is missing, then something is wrong.
It's possible that they put the wrong/old version sticker. But honestly, i don't think Xiaomi would make this kind of silly mistake, right?
This post has been edited by Max2006: Jun 24 2014, 04:18 PM
what's the different btw version 1 and version 2 in terms of sound quality? or v1 means early production date while 2 is a later batch production?
now more confuse already....
According to Xiaomi's own official review, they claimed that verison 2.0 is much more improved compared to version 1.0, in term of sound quality and build quality.

Hi guys, i managed to place an order for one pc of mi3 just now at noon but i didn't manage to make the payment due to an oversight on my part, there were un-updated transactions when I checked this morning but when I wanted to make payment just a while ago all the transactions were updated and my available credit became insufficient to cover the mi3 rm769.
So if anybody who didnt manage to place an order i will let go mine. But it must be done within the 24hrs limit placed. The following screenshot is the order i placed.
Pm please, thanks.

piston 1.0 is silver color . if u buy 2.0 sure is gold color, if buy 2.0 and packaging is 1.0 = mostly fake

most likely they run out of version 2 boxes, so just dig out the old packaging box from warehouse and send. as long as you feel the sound is great and you are very sure you bought it directly from xiao mi, why bother?
anyway, can't buy anything from xiao mi website today, so i get the much hyped Piston 2.1 from steventan85 instead. Arriving tomorrow. Read some review at Head-Fi saying it is better than Shure SE215. So just need to find out by myself.

if that's the case, then it's all good. but still, I can't accept this kind of solution. Using incorrect product box to send out the item? This is definitely ridiculous, especially for Xiaomi, a company who want to get nice reputation in the world.
At least, they should inform the customers about this instead of letting them scratching their head.
First, we got different version for an item. then we got the fake one as well. And now, using old box becoz of running out of original box ? oh Xiaomi....there's no other products like you.

actually , they never officially announced V2.0 ...they stated UPGRADED model..so we all assume its V2.0
Usually bass kao kao and clarity dont go together. Proven it is a bit hyped.
well, i think bass is normal only, because this earphone very well in human voice, very wide and clarity, if want bass kaw kaw, go buy outside rm20 - 30, can give you bass kaw kaw already...
They indeed never say it's V2.0. They just simply call it the "Improved version" (in chinese).
IMO, they should pay attention to the current issues among the Piston buyers. if they all knew about this real vs fake or V1.0 vs V2.0 issues, they would have educated the customers how to differentiate them. Also they need to provide the pics of the product box/sticker and put it up in their site as well. Or am I asking for too much?
Anyway, I need to say sorry to suntzulee and jeremy. Yes, yours one are the real one, as long as the description on the sticker is correct.

Hello guys. An update. Yesterday i reported that i smart-ass-ly inserted sim card adapter into the phone and it got stuck.
SO i tried a few times using the soft plastic technique to push the sim card pins.. and succeeded … hahaha… okie thanks to michael9413, s.n.a.g and chlim hehee
I feel there is a future for Xiaomi, their marketing strategy is hard for established brands to replicate. If you look at the pricing of the mi3, there is only a very thin margin of profit. I can't find the manufacturing cost for mi3 but close reference to galaxy s4 manufacturing cost shows it to be near the current selling price of the mi3. Big brands can never dream of selling at this prices, they will be making losses. This will definitely eat into the volumes of the big boys.

lol.... you are so skeptical about Xiao Mi. Just now about their sales figure, now their product specs. There is a chinese saying "Dun use someone if you cannot trust him. If you decided to use someone, dun suspect him."
I ask question on power bank performance mar cannot kah?
plus I will go mi3 IF it have LTE (for me that is important-for upgrading purposed), so now waiting for mi3s
This will definitely eat into the volumes of the big boys.
yes, i agree, that article is just rubbish. This is just normal Summer Sales promo and the writer wrote like Xiao Mi's business is getting worse. Can't believe the article is dated last week and he commented Xiao Mi should consider exporting to International in his last paragraph. SG and MY has started getting Mi3 more than a month ago.
There is always competition in this competitive mobile phones market but i think Xiao Mi will have a good future since its MIUI has quite a solid fan base and this has certainly won half of the battle. Their new products like the mi pad and MiTV are really quite innovative at their price range. And I believe this is just the beginning.

of course can, especially ladies - tends to be suspicious.
I will only get a mi phone if it has LTE, 5.5" screen with full HD or higher reso, 2GB ram minimum, 32GB internal storage with external storage support, sub RM1k price. Dual sim will be an added advantage. My wishlist should not be too difficult to fulfill, right?
Then perhaps you should email or call them up and ask them why the "2" is missing. if they really giving you the real one, then why the hell their sticker doesn't put up with the correct item name? They need to give you an explanation.
Would like to add something. It may not due to any wrong boxes or batches. I am suspecting it could be a version 2.1
Picture by Max2006 is referring to version 2.0 (correct me if am wrong)
Most likely the packing (12g, 16ohm, .....) for version 2.1 DOES NOT have the digit 2..
i have the the one exactly shown in your picture, just the name is 小米活塞耳机. So my is which version?
Yours is version 2.0 iF version is discontinued as it is just a limited edition item. I check them with mine.. Mine also write 小米活塞耳机 only.
In my opinion, the easiest way to check whether your piston is fake or real.. Is to look at the grill ( the part where sound comes out). Sticks and boxes can be easily copied by fake. But the grill is not ..
Fake grills will be flat or curved inwards but Original grills will bulge out..

Waa.. so low demand ?
I wan 6" Super Amoled 4 K display, LTE-A, 3GB RAM 128GB Internal Storage, SD card 128GB, Snapdragon 805 Quad Core 3.0Ghz, 40 MP Main Cam with 13MP Front Cam for selfie,,3 sim all LTE if possible, still sell at RM 769.00
Same here. Also the box have the metal clip and SML stamping.
dont worry, is real one even you dont have what described by Max2006. Pls look back page 1 where i updated the info with my commentary.

i will only buy branded powerbank, can't risk my Note 3 with chapalang lousy PB. I was thinking to get a Yooboa for next months overseas trip but bump into the Xiao Mi PB. So far only good comments from my brothers and sisters. I bought a few for my family members, friends and myself. But I did try it twice with my Note 10.1 2014, it can't fully charge it.

Modders have a different view of Xiaomi for withholding the kernels. But those will be the minorities, what they are after is the mass general users that wants value and ease of use. I hardly cared for playing around with the ROMs. I know don't slaughter me, it just me OK. Eventually it is all about domination of the web eco systems. MIUI is not just about another custom Android ROM, it's a base for a wider eco system that will eventually encompasses many other products, TV been one.

yes, modding is pointless nowadays. As i wrote somewhere else in this forums, custom roms are nice during the old days coz they brings much improved performance and tweaks to the devices but with today powerful devices, the lack of optimisation is negligible. Most custom rom nowadays are just cosmetics. I stop updating custom rom for my Note 2 6 months after i used it and i dun even bother to install any custom rom for my Note 3. Of course another factor is possibility the Samsung Knox being tripped and void warranty. But if the optimisation is very great, i will forgo the warranty for it.

if compared to my super old Sanyo Eneloop 3,000mAmp, of course it is godly. I seldom need PB actually so not so much expert in PB. I only buy PB when i need to go for oversea vacation.
For daily use, i just swap my Note 3 battery whenever my Note 3 run dry.

Hei, try to calibrate the proximity sensor by using the hardware test. go to your dialer and input *#*#64663#*#* then choose 9. Proximity Sensor My unit and my friend's had this issue solved by the calibration of proximity sensor. Taking off SP doesn't solve that for me.

Now your phone is damage. Can say bye bye to your phone. Just bring to service center.
Its the original sim tray. Now that is scaring me as well coz I might be switching sim once in a while for this phone using the standard mini sim. If original sim tray also can get stuck, there is a problem there..

I didn't force my way to open the sim tray, so i assume that it's still savable, i've heard that xiaomi sg service center is able to take out the sim tray without damaging the pin, i'm just wondering anyone here have this problem and had it resolve at service center here

Stop frightening yourself, you probably just need a forceful push to release the tray.
yes it won't eject, and it's the original sim tray without any sim adapter
Then it should be no problem at all. So try again. Even if you have tried for numerous times, don't give up. try again.
I myself tried about 10 times before I could eject the sim tray successfully. And after that, I told myself i will never take out the sim card anymore unless I decide to change phone.

that provided the rom fully optimized for that phone. like my wife jb 4.1.2 for note 2. still going strong. then custom rom is not need..

well based on link below, some takut2 they install spyware..

Speaking about headphone out, I was quite dissatisfied with Mi3 output. Tried UHP336, Mylar 1B also sound weird.
Today finally have time to whip out the old GoVibe v5 headamp and all of a sudden, improved quite a lot.
But the biggest surprise is when I tried iPhone new earphone (with the headamp since Mi3 cant power it loud enough). It suited best to the Mi3 sound signature. How weird? It did lack a bit of bass but overall it is the smoothest sounding of all.
First time buying from XiaoMi and managed to get a Mi3. No luck on Powerbanks. It just like sold out in 20seconds =.= I should have added pb to cart first then only Mi3. Hopefully Mi3 serve me good for the next 2 or 3 years. Anyway how long does it take for the Mi3 to reach our doorstep?

Really interesting article.. Optimum way to counter that is to constantly use VPN ( that you create yourself and not third party ones)
Although Miui have the feature to control app permissions, the last time I used android phone, most of the apps request for contact access, gps access, etc etc even though they are games or simple apps. When I switched to iOS, I can disallow any app except for stock app to access contact or even mic.. without jailbreak .. and they still work... But some android apps if you root liao then block the permission, they won't work when they detect that you blocked those..
Anyhow, I have Mi3 and iPhone... so.. please don't start a flame war.. Just sharing info..
NSA ANT 1 tap of your keyboard and they can record all your keys.. without the need to install anything.. Quite fascinating if you are into these kinds of stuffs.
And if you are or you know any system admin.. Tell them to read this..
Just got mine today. Im impressed at how many things they did right with the layout and settings of the phone. So far so good. Unimpressed with audio and screen clarity tho otherwise everythings pretty good.
hi guys, i have a pending order for the mi3, its worth to buy mi3 over redmi note?
imo, it depends on how u use the phone. if u r looking for a long-term phone to use, i suggest u go for mi3. the spec can last u at least 1-2 years before u r "outdated", because S800 processor should serve your purpose over mediatex processor in term of performance/intensive gaming. it is worth to get such a good spec phone @ rm769. if u r just to try out the phone, u r welcome to try both because soon u sell off them n try the new devices.

tq for the fast respond, the for is for my wife normal gaming and fb usage, more concern on the rear and secondary camera quality, mi3 and redmi note rear camera is the same quality? and i notice secondary redmi note is 5mp compare with mi3 only 2mp, but quality still dunno which 1 is better.

im very satisfied with the camera, but it is depend upon users. maybe u can refer to some photo reviews taken by mi3 users. i seldom selfie, so i dont care the quality of front camera. however since redmi note yet to officially release so i cant compare the quality between two. (AP set is in the market for rm630 anyway)
mi3 is more than enuf for normal gaming n fb because the hardware is for intensive gaming, even redmi is enough to cater for her usage. u can go for redmi note to save bucks (rm130 savings) since her usage is considered medium. but try to choose 2gb ram version so that not lag if u go for redmi note. however pls note that redmi note screen is bigger.
if the user is yr wife, i suggest u listen to her requirements because mi3 metallic look may too masculine LoL while note polycarbonate may look cheap for some people. let her choose then u just pay la

i've tried: - uninstalling the driver that causes this error (unknown USB device) and then reconnect - install the xiaomi sync software - reboot my device and the pc

i suggest u another solution if u juz wanna transfer thing between ur phone n pc, u can use the build in FTP transfer protocol function on mi3 note: ur mi3 must connect to same wifi network as ur pc
on mi3 1.go to explorer > press FTP > start server
2.then u will see a ftp address (ftp://192.168.0.100:2121)
on PC 3.u enter the ftp address on file explorer and whola, u can directly transfer file thru FTP

Bugs of the latest version of Dev ROM. It has been reported. Wait for next version to fix it.
For me, only happened on Windows 8 but working well on Windows 7 n below. However, some users complained all Windows also not working.
I almost formatted my PC because of this. Haha. Luckily tried booted to System 2 to test it before format my PC.

Thanks for sharing. I thought rotate the phone.
Strange that my phone never asked me to do calibration. But I do find my phone didn't point straight. Compare to note 2, it did off by few degree. I press pass, calibrate manual few times by rotating the phone seem to straighten it a bit.

I've bought and applied the Nillkin, and I dropped the phone few times and now lot of chips all around. And finger prints seems to be everywhere too.
your nope means no problem with google services or got problem with google services? btw if both micloud and google services on at the same time (sync photo to micloud & google), will it be very battery consuming ?
No problems with G services...
Battery on my Mi3 still very good with both services running...

Hi all, I have a problem here. After plugging the piston earphone to my Mi3, the incoming call ringtone will ring from the speaker of the phone. Anyone know how to make the call ringtone to ring in the earphone?
Done the 8 motion for the compass calibration to no avail.... 8 motion for 10 minutes. My pedometer is logging my actions more than 250 steps.. Hahaha, yet still can't be calibrated. In comparison my other phones are calibrated within seconds.
*update. -restart my phone and run calibration again. Success withing 15 seconds... Yay!

Its not a problem. My Samsung Mega is same. All Android same. Its done that way because if you forgot to plug out headphone, you'll miss a lot of calls.

Hardware fault?
compass no need to calibrate. It will work one eventhough it ask u to calibrate.

SO this is Android problem. Virus pass through Android screening.

But my previous Samsung Android phone doesn't give me such problem... I thought there would be some settings for me to set it. Now I dont dare to listen music in my office as the ringtone could ring in the office

Perhaps you need to set something on your Piston? I am now using edifier earphone. And it rings in my earphone when the calls come in.

I tested a theory, I put random address when bought MI3 yesterday.
But in Paypal window, I choose my office address (already registered in profile)
So when i checked at My Order page, the delivery is following the one in Paypal
Have been doing that since last week sales. You can choose from multiple addresses in Paypal account.
Thus to save time, key in address properly in Paypal, then during Xiaomi sale, just hantam some rubbish inside the address and phone column very quickly, then when pay using paypal, select full address from paypal straight into it.
I forgot to change the phone no. in Paypal. The old number overwrite my mobile number in my purchase yesterday. CS cannot change phone number, thus live with it unless package not delivered.

Can I remove the sticket behind the mi 3 which states my IMEI code etc? I am thinking of taking it out n putting it on the official receipt. Any suggestions?

but seems like now xiaomi changed the way it works already..if you managed to click BUY NOW succesfully (means still in stock) and add to cart, they will spare for you. No need to rush filling the form. Few managed to place order even after 18minutes of sales. My one last place order around 12.04pm.
guys, is it worth to root the phone and use other ROM?
i think it is not necessary..probably can try dev rom if you need root. but do check on the next update before you do, bcause some of the updates might have major issue to you.

Same here. I never had this problem for past 4 orders. Dont know why this time change again. Home line already cancel 2 years ago.

ok! because i really like the idea of root where they say "with rooted phone, you can use the phone like how you want, not like how google want".
i notice that the recent google update, they always wanted to access our location n there are useless apps that always run in background

Hi guys.. Got my phone yesterday.. First non nexus phone after 4 years.. Dhd-nexus s.-galaxy nexus.-nexus 4-mi3..decided to try mi3 instead of nexus 5..first day using.. So far it looking ok.. Price is the factor i opt for mi3 instead of nexus 5..
camera quality just so-so for ms.. No wow factor for camera.. But i can live with it.. Mi launcher is a bit weird for me as it dont have app drawer.. So i use my old nova launcher.. So far it performs better than my galaxy nexus..
The screen is superior than my old galaxy nexus.. Cant comment much on battery as still not one day using it..the looks and design is ok.. Round sided is nice.. Speaker sound is loud and ok..
Currently using the phone without casing and screen proctector.. The grip is not so good.. Maybe need casing for my Mi3 then it feels better..
Wanna ask u guys.. Betwern stock browser & chrome browser which one is good in term of smoothness and user friendly?

If u were to choose between Stock Browser and Chrome, i don't know why, I always install Chrome even when i know it's the same thing. Anyhow, i've read good reviews for Dolphin Browser, but have yet to try it out yet.

Its not the same thing. Chrome always up to date. Stock browser is not.

my self preferred stock browser over chrome, any browser without exit button is no no for me, i too use opera for android.
Anybody encounter the "over-sensitive" screen problem, even when GLOVE-MODE is already off. Problem is while scrolling up and down with thumb, sometimes can accidentally become CLICK to unwanted link, photo, page, etc. This is a very annoying issue, otherwise overall it is a very good phone.
