I think now is a good time to get a Wii U while Nintendo is doing free game promotion with Mario Kart 8. But as I read from other people on this board, apparently there isn't anyone who can register their consoles as US Nintendo is able to detect if the console is Asia set or not.

According to Mario Kart 8 free game faq on US Nintendo website, we can only get free game code by registering the console. I don't think the physical disc included in the bundle set contains any Club Nintendo code at all.

The question that I would like to know is whether anyone successfully register their Wii U console to get 160 coins on US Club Nintendo? I want to know this as it seems like most retailers in Malaysia sell Wii U set distributed by Maxsoft, which gives 1 -2 years? warranty. If its by Maxsoft I think the sets will be seen as Asian set by US Nintendo and thus can't be registered on US Nintendo site.

Anyone that bought Zelda Waker Set or Mario Wii U set in the past (or Wii U Deluxe Wii U Basic) that successfully register their system and got Club Nintendo coins?

Maybe its because of the serial number? Not sure about Wii U but I think for 3DS the alphabets are different for different region. BTW thanks for the super detailed reply last night!!

Well... Can tell you that I bought my Wii U Mario bundle last two weeks with pbb seller (impulse game) and I also bought mario kart 8 seperately. I can definitely confirm that I managed to get zelda windwaker hd for free using the mario kart 8 special free game promotion. So if you guys want the free game promotion, I would highly recommend this method.

Did you get the new super Mario wii u bundle? Did you manage to register your wii u on US nintendo club and get 160 points?

The WiiU is usually ok because there's no Asian region for it (official I mean). And no worries. Glad I could be of help. hehe.

Bought my MK8 Wii u Bundle 2 weeks ago. No issue registering it and getting 160 coins from Nintendo Club. However, did not get the free game by default. Had to call Nintendo call center to get them to register my Wii U into their system for the free game. Got another 70 coins with the free game. so total 230 coins for the Wii U MK8 bundle.

I read your post on another thread that you received an email from US Nintendo (https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1909534/+1880#), so did you provide all the info (or fake the info, lol) to them before you get your free game? (receipt, retailer's name and location etc.) Or did you just call them directly to get it registered? Cheers!

Bought the Wii U Zelda version. Managed to get it registered as well. Bought a separate copy of MK8 and got the free game as well.

I replied their email with a fake amazon.ca receipt using the amazon receipt generator on Thursday but received no reply. They did not refer to those emails when i called them directly. All she mentioned was sometimes it takes a while for the Wii U registration to show up. She helped to manual enter my Wii U serial number into their system so i can get the free game within 24 hours.

Likely they assume you are in the US or Canada if you are able to call their helpdesk :-)

my coins didn't increase after the registration of my Wii U, same goes with surveys, they only appeared the next time i logged in

Been a Wii U owner since Day 1.

No problems registering it for 160 coins here.

Hi, do you mind telling me which number you called? I registered my Wii U for 160 coins but no free games
