QUOTE(nite_eif @ Jul 2 2014, 05:33 PM) my mbb2 amex and visa gold just approved. my question: for 5% CB, statement/receipt of purchase date must be on sat or sunday, at what exactly the time, 12.01 am sat to 11.59 pm sun? i remember reading in previous post, friday also can get the 5% cb? So, considering another card to complement mbb2 : Maybank Ikhwan Mastercard Gold card-i Then this card can be used on Friday-Saturday, 12.01 am fri to 11.59 pm sat, is it? The card will be accepted at shops where they do not accept Amex. CB is not based on actual transaction time but what is reported by the merchant to the bank. E.g. if you go to Tesco and swipe on Sat 0030 and expect to get CB, you will probably be disappointed.

QUOTE(poweredbydiscuz @ Jul 2 2014, 06:58 PM) CB eligibility is based on actual transaction time, not posting time. Or do you have experience before i.e. swipe on sat 0030 and did not get CB? In my example, the transaction will be shown as on Friday because Tesco bunches the transactions up to their closing time, so the fact that the calendar day wasn't Friday doesn't factor to this.

QUOTE(cyang @ Jul 2 2014, 09:39 PM) Really? Up till now, all my cash back are based on transaction date.. Don't really understand what happen to ur case.. I explained why a few minutes later. You will not come across this very often as there are very few retailers who accepts CC and closes after midnight (major exception would be perhaps bars). This is more common for online transactions and has been discussed at length many times.

QUOTE(polarzbearz @ Aug 2 2014, 12:27 PM) No idea why 12:05AM's transaction is still considered as Friday. Maybe they have a different cut-off period for weekend Thanks for bringing this up again, you can find my explanation on this some pages back in this thread.

QUOTE(tcken @ Aug 3 2014, 09:46 PM) I tried to book via Maybank link but I couldn't see the 7% discount during checkout after I had key in my cc detail. That's why I called to the customer service and the staff told me it is not longer available according to Maybank website as agoda promotion isn't listed. This promo is still available but not available for all hotels. After going to agoda.com/maybank and entering the dates and city, hotels eligible for promotion will be tagged "Promotion Eligible" and the 7% will display after entering your Amex card number. QUOTE(tishaban @ Aug 4 2014, 09:45 AM) I think most of you didn't read the earlier posts I had. 1. I lost my card. 2. The card is already blocked, I called in to block it. 3. Maybank wants RM50 to issue me a new card unless I make a police report 4. If the card can still be used when it's already blocked then Maybank has serious issues. Overall Maybank's customer appreciation is pathetic. Will drop by CIMB today to see what they can offer. While I admit I've not checked every single bank in Malaysia, I believe this RM50 charge for lost credit card is common for all card issuers and this is definitely also true for CIMB: http://www.cimbbank.com.my/pdf/PDS_Fin.pdf

QUOTE(maskedchan @ Aug 4 2014, 11:35 AM) and do not open SA account as they have annual fees... Very very few kinds of savings account are charged annual fees in Malaysia. The annual fee most people pay is for unlimited withdrawals from own-bank local ATMs and not the account itself.

QUOTE(moon'prong @ Aug 14 2014, 05:37 PM) i tot their bank acc too? kena phishing easily... been graded F for online banking system security if im not wrong... Phishing has nothing to do with the bank, unless you are saying the bank itself encourages phishing attempts. And this F story is really outdated.

QUOTE(cybpsych @ Aug 14 2014, 08:41 PM) why you guys got different amount charged to card when verifying with paypal? Mine got charged USD1.95 This is the PP code referred earlier. No need to do anything, just pay using Amex in USD and the amount will be deducted first with the CC transaction.

QUOTE(victorywp @ Aug 24 2014, 03:36 PM) nothing changed, and i didn't buy from groupon this month so can't confirm it. i think better you just call to clarify with the cs. if your cc is platinum, you can call for free. Bought from Groupon multiple times this month with my Amex, didn't encounter any issues.

QUOTE(-DarKz- @ Aug 28 2014, 11:48 AM) Bro thank for your reply, but epp 4.5% is 6months and 8.88% is per annum , so what if i wish to settle in 6 months which mean 8.88 p.a devide by 2 and it's 4.44% only. And 1 more thing EPP payment amount are fixed at every month. What if i din't make the EPP and yet im still facing late payment charges + 4.44%(6 months) to settle this payment right? So if i do EPP = fixed interest amount and pay in 6 months without worry late payment interest gaining. If i dint do the EPP and yet still wanted to make full payment in 6 month = Im facing 4.44% interest rate for 6 months and late payment 1% interest rate for every month until i make full settlement right ? It shouldn't take anyone more than a few moments to read up on how credit card interest works. Just understand that CC rates charged is compound interest and you are thinking about simple interest. Basically, EPP interest is better but if you have any doubt of being able to pay the full statement balance, don't proceed with the purchase.

QUOTE(JustForFun @ Sep 24 2014, 06:26 PM) Sure? I remember reading somewhere that you can only get the 5% Agoda discount (7 if you're Plat), even if you perform transactions on weekends. Any MBB Amex is 7% immediate discount on most hotels (not all) on condition the steps are correctly followed. The 5x TP is always there but the 5% cashback does not enter the story except on weekends.
