Effective today, our beloved Maybank 2 Cards cardholder will have to pay RM100 for GST instead of the past  RM50 .

Interesting, Maybank's Terms & Conditions and Product Disclosure states RM50 GST for each Supplementary Card!? I guess the person who drafted the documents made a mistake and should be read as RM25 for each Supp Card or RM50 in total for the Supp Cards.

I don't think its a mistake... It is now RM50 for each supp card and RM100 in total.

The government increased supp cards GST from RM25/card to RM50 per card?

If this so, there will be an impact for all banks of credit cards

Bro, this is not the case, poweredbydiscuz simply claim RM50 per supp card.

You see, it is the government policy (read law) that each Principal credit card and charge card be imposed GST RM50 and for Supp card RM25/each.

If the government were to change this policy, firstly, the Finance Minister will present it to the Parliament during budget speech (coming in few months time) and it has to be approved by parliament.

call Maybank Customer Service and request that the default value, i.e. sms alert, to be set to RM1.

Thanks to your blog, I have manage to apply MBB2 card in 1U last week.
Regretted that did not follow your blog much sooner.

As of the SMS notification, I found out that the SMS sent out very fast when I use the amex card but not with the mastercard.

So far I swipe 4 times. 2 on each card, Amex SMS was instantaneous, but for MC, I only received one which is 5 mins late and 2nd one never arrived.
Would like to seek advice from sifu here to clarify if this problem is common?

Bro, glad you found my blog helpful.

Like I said, call Maybank Customer Service and request that the sms alert be set to RM1. And then see if you receive sms alerts for your MC.

And since you are new to Maybank credit cards, I strongly suggest you read the followings:

1. Fraud Calls Thread.

2. My article titled Credit Card Fraud Calls and SMS Alert.

I have done my homework using ur blog as a reference before I decided to apply for MBB2 card. I have even requested the CS to set to RM1 on the spot when collecting my cards.

I did try to call cs today and they told me that due to my card is still new and might not have even register into their system yet. doh.gif
I collected my card last Friday.

On the side note,

I am using CIMB cash back plat all these while before I bump into your blog. Now I have cards from MBB and CIMB, would like to seek GenX sifu to advice me which card is better for me to replace my CIMB card?

Currently my spending habit is RM800 - RM1400 per mth.

Petrol - 400
TnG - 100
Groceries - 200
Dining - 300
MISC - varies from mth to mth

I travel oversea 4-5 times per year (every year I will spend my xmas and new year in America)

OK - since you have requested for sms alert to be set to RM1, it will take several days for MBB to get it into effect. Once it is set, you will get a SMS confirming your request. So if you use your MC card after the SMS confirmation from MBB and still do not receive any sms alert, call customer service to report it.

Missed out above earlier, to answer your question, click here and read my article The Best Cash Back Credit Card Combination.

Now, if your CIMB credit card is FREE FOR LIFE, just keep it and donate RM50 to the government so that they can continue to provide services to the Rakyat tongue.gif Seriously, the CIMB card may come in handy especially if it offer discount at merchants you patronize.

Bro, I know you follow exactly what we were told by Maybank but don't key in SMS. It is just DAILY<space>NRIC No.

The MBB person who prepared the ad need to go back to school and learn how to instruct people clearly.
