If you plan majority of your spending on weekends, you'll gain more using Amex than Visa/MC.

Amex's 5X TPs is equivalent to 2% (in TPs). Effectively, Amex in weekends give you 5% in cashback and 2% in TPs, that's 7% worth of gain each month.

If you do not have a Current or Savings Account with Maybank but you want a Maybank2U online account to check your Maybankard 2 Cards transactions, you need to go to a Maybank branch to get it done. Better that you inform the officer that you want the Maybankard 2 Visa or MasterCard as the main account and add your Maybankard 2 Amex to it. However if you want your Maybankard 2 Amex to be the main card for the account, when you first log in to register username add 0 to the 15 digits of your Amex card. However, if you are new to credit cards, I strongly recommend that you DO NOT opt for the paperless option (i.e. receive our monthly statements online) until you familiarize yourself with Statement Balance, Outstanding Balance, Minimum Payment and Payment Due Date.

Maybankard 2 Cards FAQ:

0. This is a 2 cards combo - AMEX together with master/visa, you CANNOT cancel the master/visa and leave the AMEX alone.
1. The rebate is calculated according to the CALENDER month.
2. The rebate is usually credited to the AMEX card on the 1st or 2nd of the month.
3. For Principal Cards, the RM50 GST for AMEX is waived (for cards approved before 9 July 2014), but RM50 GST for Visa/MC remains. So cards approved before 9 July 2014, RM50 GST. Cards approved after 9 July 2014, RM100 GST.
4. For Supplementary cards, RM25 GST is imposed onto each Amex, Visa or MasterCard, so the total is RM50.
5. The GST will be billed a month or two after you received the card.
6. You do not need to activate the cards by calling in. Cards can be used immediately.
7. You do not need to post back the acknowledgment copy when you receive the card by post/courier.
8. The weekend rebate capped of RM50/month for the Maybankard 2 Amex is shared between the Principal and Supp cards.
9. If your M2U shows that you have a Maybankard 2 Cards Account, congratulations, it means you 'll be getting the cards soon. Call Customer Service if you do not want the cards or call them anyway to confirm.
10. You don't need to have a Savings Accounts or other Banking Accounts to have a M2U account for your MBB 2 Cards. You need to go to the branch to sign up for M2U to view your transactions online. Some branches are known to be unable to link both cards into a single M2U account.
11. If you cannot swipe the card at the merchant, call Customer Service number behind the card.
12. Fastest way to get the Maybankard 2 Cards is go and apply at MBB Card Centre at 1U or KLCC where they are supposed to process your application within an hour (Monday to Friday).
13. The 5% cash back on weekends (Saturdays and Sundays) for MBB 2 AMEX includes Petrol and is additional to the 5X Treats Points. However it is reported that some online transactions on weekends DO NOT earn the 5% cash back as it depends on the timing the merchant processes the transaction.
14. Maybank Platinum credit cards including MBB 2 does not grant free access to KLIA or LCCT Plaza Premium Lounge.
15. You earn 1x TP everyday with your Maybankard 2 Visa or MasterCard and including Petrol. Good for stations that does not accept AMEX.
16. If you link your pay pal account to MBB 2 AMEX, it will take 2-3 days before it is shown in M2U.
17. 12,500 Treats Points (inflated since 1st Aug 13) to offset RM50 annual GST. Call Maybank Customer Service (Tel No. behind your card) or redeem online at https://www.maybankard.net.my/.
18. This is what is mentioned behind our Maybankard Statement - Foreign Charges converted by AMEX apply a coversion factor of 2.5% to the converted amount plus 0.5% administration cost imposed by Maybank.
19. The Maybankard 2 AMEX earns you 1x TP for every RM charged to your card by default. The rest of the TP is recorded as 4x bonus TP (written as MAYBANKARD 2 AMEX 4X BONUS in your statement), making it a total of 5x TP for all charges made to your MBB2 AMEX.
20. To earn the 5% cash back, TRANSACTION DATE shown in M2U or statement must be on weekend (Sat/Sun), posting date does not matter.
21. The 5% Cash Back payout MONTH is subjected to POSTING DATE not transaction date. You will always get the cash back on the 1st day of the following month straight after the POSTING DATE. Here's a detail example by ronnie

Rule of thumb:
PAYPAL + Amex + RM = no go
PAYPAL + Amex + foreign currency = good to go
PAYPAL + Visa/Master + RM/foreign currency = good to go

For PAYPAL with MBB 2 AMEX to earn 5% cash back (Non RM Transaction Only).

I need to call maybank Amex CS to "unbarred" payment from 1 day up to maximum 1 month in order to proceed with the payment. I asked why need to call CS to make a PayPal payment even though the amount is less than usd10, CS replied this is new security measure.
You guys faced this situation before ?

For Booking Your Hotel Room via Agoda.com with Maybankard Visa/MasterCard versus MBB 2 AMEX

Verified link by ronnie on 24 May 2013: http://www.agoda.com/maybank
- 7% for Platinum and Premium Cards
- 5% for Gold and Classic Cards

Confirmed by nuodi on 09/01/2014 and cempedaklife on 22/06/2014: Additional 5% usual cash back for M2 Amex during weekend

QUOTE(nuodi @ Jan 9 2014, 01:20 PM)
Did 2 agoda bookings with amex in the past 2 weeks.
Both transactions captured as weekend transactions... so extra rebate 5% was given.  smile.gif

Perhaps they have changed their system to perform transactions on weekends. Posting date as usual is always late about 3-4 days later, so just be careful if making month end transaction.

Guys, things have changed with Agoda now. From now on, always choose MYR as your checkout currency as Agoda's rate is now better than ever! And you will save even more if you have MBB2 AMEX. And because your card will be billed in MYR, you do not have to worry about AMEX's high foreign exchange rate! I have just booked a room through the Maybank Agoda promotion landing page, paid with my MBB2 AMEX, got 7% off + about 2.5% (5x TP) + redeemed 12,500 Agoda rewards points (equivalent to USD25). Save myself quite some money.

QUOTE(cempedaklife @ May 20 2013 @ 11:32 AM)
yup...normal number 123, please register ur card before calling them up...once u register, u can't see ur card details on the site, so there might be a bit confusion on whether u've sucessfully registered. but after register, just give them a call

Pay via Phone Payment
Settle your Maxis mobile and fixed line bills with a simple phone call. Just set up your account to Pay via Phone by filling in your details below then dial 123 ( everytime you want to make a payment )
Press 1 for access to your billing info
Press 1 to perform bill and payment transaction
Press 3 to make a payment
Note : Your may only choose to set up EITHER the Pay via Phone options OR the Direct Debit option. You cannot subscribe to both.

@OP, we need update the first page regarding maxis payment and I got some assistance from jovenne

Maxis does accept AMEX but only via phone. It's not automated but can be done with AMEX.
1) Dial 123 to Maxis centre on Friday night.
2) Speak with customer service representative to request AMEX team to call back you on Saturday morning to proceed your payment
3) On Saturday morning, Amex team will call you back and confirm you on the payment and request AMEX details.
4) Tada Done smile.gif

QUOTE(polarzbearz @ Jul 26 2014, 10:38 AM)
I tried the above method for Maxis Home Fibre, it works too altho the number is different in my case (as I'm not using their Mobile yet, so 123 is not applicable for me). I dialed the general maxis CS line 1-800-82-1123 to request for payment, they requested me to call the home fibre department to request for payment at 1800 82 4663. The rest of the steps are the same as per mentioned above by inShuz.
QUOTE(cyang @ Jun 30 2014, 05:22 PM)
I still able to pay amex through phone through automated system. Does not require the CS call me at all smile.gif

Just register your card through maxis portal (Add credit card, not the maxis pay).

How much FD one have to place in order to get a Platinum MB2C Amex/MC? RM20,000?

i remember one forummer here pledge 20k, i feel you can try lower perhaps 15k. (At the end of the day, amount you pledge = your CC credit limit)

I think you can try per below

1. Place X amount as fixed deposit with Maybank for 1 year
2. Bring your FD Cert to their card center and tell them your intent.

Hi guys, currently my statement date is on 8th day of every month, and payment due date is on 28th.

Can I request Maybank to change my payment due date at beginning of each month? Because my salary is on at 30th.

IMO, not that practical to lock down your fund into FD in order to get equivalent credit limit.

any particular reasons to upgrade to Platinum besides the higher credit limit?

you cant change the due date. you can only change the bill date.

so far, the bill dates are as follows: 3rd, 6th, 8th, 12th, 14th, 18th, 21st, 26th, 28th, end of the month.

best would be bill date = 12th, so that the due date = either 1st or 2nd of following month (except on March whereby Feb has lesser days).

Anyway you can use AMEX for Steam purchases or online subscriptions like World of Warcraft

5x rewards points + 5% cashback is awesome smile.gif

I am using the AMEX as my online card , as I have maybank petronas visa for petrol and i am waiting for my regular master card (they sent me visa) for regular use
*
i believe the transaction cost for foreign currency is quite high for mbb2 amex, around 2.5%. This might offset any cashback you receive especially if is the amount is quite high. though i might be wrong.

Can I request Maybank to change my payment due date at beginning of each month? Because my salary is on at 30th.

You ask Maybank CS to change your Statement Date in orde for the Due Date to be moved

the treatfair voucher redemption is worth as less point for more voucher.
eg 12500 RM50 tesco voucher or 25000 RM100 Jusco voucher compare to 13750 rm50 tesco vocuher or 26250 rm100 jusco voucher.

To swipe beyond CC's limit, we just bank in the amount needed (minus the limit readily available)??
So it's like to swipe 10k, limit is 5k, just bank the difference 5k to the CC right?!

If I'm not mistaken, U can't bank in this way.

If u want to swipe 10k in 1 lump sum, but ur limit is only 5k, u have to call CS to temporarily increase limit.
I don't think they allow NEGATIVE figure in ur Outstanding Amount, so u can't deposit extra money into the CC.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

you can bank-in the money into the cc account first to make an overpayment.
credit limit + overpayment = new credit limit

I see. This is new to me.
Last year, I tried to pay my MBB credit card outstanding amount which around 5xx from my MBB saving account. But I accidentally key in 15xx. It does not allow me to pay. By that time I thought MBB doesn't allow me to transfer extra payment. Maybe I'm wrong.. Hahaha..

gsc online does not accept amex.
if you want, better go to tgv and use your amex on the spot to buy at the counter.

during early days of maybank2u, we can pay extra to the credit card and then can even get interest paid on that amount.

then they realized they will losing money and set a limit in maybank2u to pay up to balance only.

You can have negative value in the CC.

Transfer fund from Saving/Current Account to Credit Card which more than the outstanding balance is not allowed in Maybank2U. However, u can choose to deposit from CDM, other pay your CC bill from other bank (Interbank GIRO/MEPS), or pay via cheque.

alexwsk Thank you for the hard work in keeping this thread. Anyway, is there a change in Paypal payment processing time zone ? Because it seems the post about Paypal payment processing time zone which is in US Central Time Zone (despite its HQ is actually in LA which is under Pacific Time Zone) has been taken off since thread V9 ? The original quoted post about Paypal time zone was in post #3 V8. Can you please look into it ? Thanks.

any particular reasons to upgrade to Platinum besides the higher credit limit?

someone able to do lesser than 50k due to that person already have high credit limit on mbb2card...
so only pledge for lesser and combine the credit limit with mbb2card... smile.gif

Maybank msia and spore abang adik.
If live in spore, jz call up or visit maybank spore hq near raffles place for more info. If cannot apply direct in spore, den go jb apply but ask them send card to maybank spore branch. They can do that (but that's around 5 years ago so am unsure what's the policy now).

If live in spore, jz call up or visit maybank spore hq near raffles place for more info. If cannot apply direct in spore, den go jb apply but ask them send card to maybank spore branch. They can do that (but that's around 5 years ago so am unsure what's the policy now).

You applied before?

hi guys

1 question here.

my statement show this on my maybank2card (Amex)

user posted image

but then on my visa card, another tax been charged which is RM50 but didn't show paid.

so i would like to know the tax is charged on amex card or it is been waived. because customer service told me only charged on visa itself.

thanks

Last I check, paypal don't deal with RM for local transactions but maybe I'm outdated.

AFAIK, no online portal accepts AMEX. It has to be done over the counter

Best practice is to call before your trip to avoid unnecessary embarrassment and high roaming calls.

IIRC, as long as it is all connected to the same Maybank2u account, which I think it would be, same IC registration right? Then your treat points will be accumulated. You can check under rewards in your M2U account. They will show treat points from each card and then the accumulated points from all related accounts.

As i know ..maxis dont provide any 0% installment.. but im not sure if they accept amex for point collection,, most likely u will end up with calling CS to convert your payment to convert into installment.. which mean a little fee will take into consideration..im not sure about the rates.. give a call to them

Most Digi oullets (not their agent) do accept Amex 0% interest eazy payment.
I have tried twice at Digi Store in Sunway Pyramid, 24 months 0% interest.

Login to my M2U just now to check my Credit card accounts. Both Amex and Visa were unable to access and prompted account not authorize. No problem with CASA accounts though.
Kindly confirm if you face the same.

You're are basically questioning their honesty. If you believe he is honest, give him your details. If you do not give him, your trnx might not go thru! But of course, he could access your card if he got all your info!

if you're so "unlucky" the posting date is 6th (which is common), you need to pay on the 26th that month.
so play safe, transact on 7th then you only pay before 26th next month smile.gif

depends whether if you're a frequent user or how much you trust online transaction.
last time cannot go through so i called and say no need blocking, so no blocking.
but i bear the risk of fraud, but paypal got withhold the money and one can open dispute with paypal if there's a fraud.

now sure about visa's conversion rate, but here's a comparison for amex conversion as of 28-Jun:

USD1.95 = MYR6.43

i was confirming my amex to paypal, RM1.95 transacted on 28-Jun, posted on 29-Jun, listed in M2U on 30-Jun.

i am in the process of applying for the maybank 2 card. so far used normal visa / mastercard, never tried Amex.

Question: Do chain-shops like 99 Speedmart, NSK, CS, MyMydin Mart etc accept Amex and thus can get 5% cash back?

There are so many credit card services available, and I'm unsure which is the best. I recently found the UOB One Card Platinum, and I think it's quite good with lots of cashback. If you are anything like me, check here for more information: http://www.imoney.my/credit-card/uob/one-card-platinum

4) Tada Done smile.gif

just a request for Maxis to call you back.

the frontend payment gateway doesnt accept amex. maxis only able to manually process payment via amex.

this is similar to Etiqa OneLine renewal. Website doesnt accept AMEX, but if you call them on Saturday, they'll manually process payment on your behalf (getting card info from you).

i cant remember when but it used to be possible to register AMEX into Maxis system and just use pay-by-phone method (through automation, no need them to call u back), but it seems maxis has stopped users to register Amex into that system since quite some time ago.

I know because my maxis is registered with the amex card. now im wondering what will happen when my amex expired and replace with new number...

I still able to pay amex through phone through automated system. Does not require the CS call me at all smile.gif

Just register your card through maxis portal (Add credit card, not the maxis pay).

Yup. Only available on saturday before noon. Forgot when is the cutoff time.
There is one time, I call maxis too late, the payment can't get through, then it linked to a CS and she said she need to send a request to Amex team for them to call me back on Monday. I said don't have to Because I want the 5% rebate.. hahaha! Then I called maxis on following saturday again and tada~ bill paid. hahaha smile.gif

Hi,

Are you referring to option Pay by Phone under Manage Account --> Edit Account Info --> Change Credit Card No. ???
I just call Maxis Center ask them about payment using Amex. They told me still need Maxis Billing team to call back only able to proceed with the payment. They told me there is automated option rclxub.gif

otherwise, just redeem focus point cash voucher first and then use it at any focus point outlet.

I registered my card long time ago. Actually I had forgotten how I register. But I guess would be:

1. Login Maxis
2. Manage Account
3. Edit Account Info
4. Change Credit Card no.
5. Pay method : Pay By Phone
6. Card Type Amex
7. Etc ..

Not too sure whether this is the right way or they had barred this?
Previously I had account in maxis easy pay. But I remove all card details on maxis easy pay, and register my Amex card through this way ( I assume ).

Anyway, just try your luck. As long as they capture ur credit card info, you can pay by phone. Doesn't need to go through CS. Or maxis ed change their policy or whatsoever? Good luck smile.gif

The option you mention still available to register the Amex card. But CS told me if we wish to charge our card during the weekend still need Maxis team call back. But i doubt their answer as Maxis always give the wrong info to me on first time.

yes, after all discount, when during payment, just use the cash vouchers to deduct and pay the balance.
so you can use it at focus point outlets in sarawak but only 3 outlets (2 in miri and 1 in kuching).

I call them 3 times..... rclxub.gif
Everytime they ask me to register the Pay Bill option to get the 6 digits PIN.
But Pay Bill option does not have Amex option.

If we login to Maxis Portal (not Pay Bill)
There is an option to register your card under Pay by Phone. But they still insist need to arrange call back rclxub.gif

Yes. I got my 6 digit pin. But i really cant remember how I register last time. hahaha!!!
Maybe through maxis easy pay??
Previously I got credit card under maxis easy pay, then I delete it, register amex card through 'some link which I cant recall'. Maybe 6 digit pin generated through easy pay? haha..

I'm going to pay my bill by phone this week again. Will update you guys. But I think shouldn't be a problem.

maxis used to implement 6 digit PIN for their online portal. those who have registered the PIN before will be able to use the automated pay by phone, just need to add the card in your profile.

it is not possible to register for the PIN anymore, so even if you add your card, you still need them to call back.

Easy Pay does not have the option to add Amex

they are equally well accepted at most places. both have their own promotion you can see from time to time. for example, lazada has 10% discount with mastercard on monday, rakuten 10x points with mastercard on certain period, agoda 10% on wednesday with visa, etc.

upon checking list, seems that for average daily user mbb2 amex is great for petrol during weekends, but not accepted for most small groceries (except big one)..

what other mastercard/visa cc to complement this card which offer cash back?

each card has its own cashback T&Cs and also highly dependent on your spending behavior.

it depends on the promotion/offer they give from time to time. for the recent promo, some would prefer lazada/rakuten/agoda. last time i went to universal studio (singapore), there's 25% discount on entrance tickets with mastercard. it just depends which promotion/offer suits you more. but you can't just decide based on the promotion/offer now because they will have new promotion/offer from time to time.

for me, i would choose both mastercard and visa (with different banks) to cover all their promotion/offer. drool.gif brows.gif

finance charge and late payment charge will be imposed with definition as below:

- finance charge is the interest charged on the outstanding balance after the payment due date.
- late payment charge is the charge imposed if you fail to make the minimum monthly repayment by the due date.

my mbb2 amex and visa gold just approved.

my question:

for 5% CB, statement/receipt of purchase date must be on sat or sunday, at what exactly the time, 12.01 am sat to 11.59 pm sun?

i remember reading in previous post, friday also can get the 5% cb?

So, considering another card to complement mbb2 : Maybank Ikhwan Mastercard Gold card-i

Then this card can be used on Friday-Saturday, 12.01 am fri to 11.59 pm sat, is it?

The card will be accepted at shops where they do not accept Amex.

CB is not based on actual transaction time but what is reported by the merchant to the bank. E.g. if you go to Tesco and swipe on Sat 0030 and expect to get CB, you will probably be disappointed.

CB eligibility is based on actual transaction time, not posting time.

Or do you have experience before i.e. swipe on sat 0030 and did not get CB?

In my example, the transaction will be shown as on Friday because Tesco bunches the transactions up to their closing time, so the fact that the calendar day wasn't Friday doesn't factor to this.

I explained why a few minutes later. You will not come across this very often as there are very few retailers who accepts CC and closes after midnight (major exception would be perhaps bars). This is more common for online transactions and has been discussed at length many times.

I don't know if this is related. But my credit limit stated on my CCRIS is 3K more than my official credit limit from Maybank.

wanna buy something with price tag around 9700.

credit limit 8k with current credit 4.4k + 1499 (ezypay 6 months = 249,84)

need to call center to increase my limit up to 16k.

monthly payment to cc around 1k.

is that possible?

should i maintain 1k payment or call center to make ezypay 12/24/36 months? which one better?

or any good idea to share with?

it depends on your monthly cashflow and the differences of interest charges applied for ezypay (if any).

Don think mbb will let u increase. Last tgey told me is only temp increase for oversea n hospitalization. Others they don't entertain. If got other cc, just ask the merchant to split n pay using multiple cc.

Hi all, a nob question: is upgrading to 2 card Premier will loose the 5% weekend cash back? Is so, then really not worth it as the only gain is lower Enrich conversion, esp if one already owns Maybank visa infinite, right?

problem is VI only earn 2x TP on local expenses, the Amex get you 5x.

And yes, premier only benefit those who want air miles.

Nothing wrong with having both if you can swing the RM50 fees. Amex Reserve for 5x TP for conversion, Amex Platinum on weekends for 5x TP and 5% cashback, VI for 2x TP and merchants that don't take Amex.

All depends on your expenditure though.

First year is free. Apply for it if you qualify, then cancel before the year is up. The free 10k TP per card is worth it for zero cost to you.

Call Maybank and make sure they're not blocking it for fraud. My friend has used his Maybank card before on Amazon. I personally use my Citibank.

Yes, i just checked the their website, under product disclosure;

Government Service
Tax
 Principal : RM100 (for 2 principal cards)
 Supplementary : RM50 (each supplementary card)
Note: Service tax will be charged to your Card Account at the time when the card is issued, on
the anniversary date or upon renewal.

Too bad, i just want to apply for platinum one. looks like need to rethink again.

But since you get the card last month, the GST RM50 should be charge already right?

So you are no worry about GST this year until the next

OK boys and girls. GOOD news!

1) RM50 GST for approvals before 9 July 2014, and shall be perpetually RM50 (i.e. next year will still be RM50).

2) RM100 GST for new approvals from 9 July 2014!

*Update: Wanted to cancel the Visa/Mastercard. They cannot cancel only 1 card. Both cards must be canceled. Reason is that both cards are actually tied as 1 card account. So, they're actually cancelling at account-level.

i called CS to confirm it lor.

First, CS didnt aware. then put me on hold to check. later came back confirming RM100 GST effective 9 July for new signups only.

Then I drilled more about existing cardmembers who's goings having anniversary this or next year. CS reconfirmed that existing approved cards (before 9 July) will still maintain RM50 GST.

So mean this year or next year still remain the same GST for the existing 2kard holder, the following year you still need to pay RM100 for GST and another RM100 for supplementary.

So conclusion, you got a year time to look for CC replacement if you want to cut 2kards sad.gif

my understanding

Existing holder (Before 9 July 2014)

For life (until they say otherwise); Principal RM50; Sup RM25

New sign up (After 9 July 2014)

yup, better wait for Maybank to publish the notice (if they ever plan to disclose this) or FAQ set.

my Q&A with CS is purely verbal and verified on-the-spot. Hopefully they're giving me a correct answer sweat.gif

RM50 GST for cards approved < 9 July 2014 ≤ RM100 GST for cards approved

don't think mbb every waive any gst since its implementation... we either pay or use treatpoints to knock off... that's all... annual fee, yes...

If I not mistaken, Maybank never waive GST. Just use treatpoints to offset. With 5X TP using Amex, to offset GST is just simple as ABC.

It is not possible. the GST with TP can only redeem once after GST shown in online banking.

Interesting, Maybank's Terms & Conditions and Product Disclosure states RM50 GST for each Supplementary Card!? I guess the person who drafted the documents made a mistake and should be read as RM25 for each Supp Card or RM50 in total for the Supp Cards.

Bro, this is not the case, poweredbydiscuz simply claim RM50 per supp card.

You see, it is the government policy (read law) that each Principal credit card and charge card be imposed GST RM50 and for Supp card RM25/each.

If the government were to change this policy, firstly, the Finance Minister will present it to the Parliament during budget speech (coming in few months time) and it has to be approved by parliament.

why what Maybank told me is accurate, your current card wont be affected. only new signup (i.e. approval) from 9 July onwards will bear RM100 GST.

Thanks for your info...

even though what CS told you may be true, they may still change their mind later on sad.gif

On a not related note, if i'm sure everyone here will continue using as long as they can cancel their visa/mc. I sort of did wonder whether maybank will really decide that they cannot absorb the GST for amex perpetually.

so every year need to collect 25k points to offset the GST... Hmmm

beats me. anything 'bout GST, they were silence. not sure if they ever going to blast the announcement.

in my case, my GST charged in Feb. My concern was the same as other existing users. frm what CS told me, i will only be charged RM50 GST on the following years.

when i drilled further, the 9 July is seems to be the cutoff date segregating between RM50 GST vs RM100 GST users.

Any idea specifically on what date they will charge the GST RM50 on our CC ? They charged the GST last month, I started using the card on february.

If they are really charging RM100 for GST, I also hv supplementary card under my name, total GST gonna be RM150 ! vmad.gif

it's actually simple.

if you're an existing user (i.e. cards approved) before 9 July 2014, the cards will maintain its original RM50/RM25 GST.

if you're a new user on or after 9 July, then the cards will have RM100/RM50 GST.

Hi guys, not sure if this has been asked before. Can I visit the credit card center in One Utama to obtain my temporary pin used for ATM/retail transaction?

I went to the main branch at IBM towers,BU but they said their system could not read AMEX card and thus can't issue me the PIN (error: credit card info mismatch) . It was fine for my Visa though.

Seriously cc BNM?
BNM intention is the bank shouldn't absorb the GST imposed by the government except by way of offsetting bonus point i.e. no matter how the customers should pay for it.

Seriously cc BNM?
BNM intention is the bank shouldn't absorb the GST imposed by the government except by way of offsetting bonus point i.e. no matter how the customers should pay for it.
*
biggrin.gif i wasnt challenging the how maybank absorb the GST. i was challenging on the mechanics of new GST charges:

1) Existing cardmembers, RM50/RM25 GST charged prior to 9 July 2014. What are the GST charges for subsequent anniversaries?
2) Existing cardmembers, RM50/RM25 GST have not been charged prior to 9 July 2014. What are the upcoming GST charges and subsequent anniversaries?
3) New cardmembers on or after 9 July. New RM100/RM50 GST will be charged and subsequent anniversaries?

i also challenged maybank why they did not disclose the revision up front prior to effective cutoff date (9 July).

*update* JUST received an email from Maybank thumbup.gif

To the existing customer, the service tax charges will still be RM50.00 for Maybankard 2 card Mastercard/Visa principal cardholder. The new service tax charges are highlighted to the new customer that wish to apply for a Maybankard 2 cards via Maybank2U.

Thankfully I just upgraded mine to Plat on early June, but my anniversary month still follows my previous Gold card which is July.

So I should be expecting my GST to be charge in this 2 weeks, will revert whether I've been charge once or twice GST on this. Hopefully is only once as per email that you all mention.

my svc tax for Gold charged on Feb (anniversary month), upgraded to Platinum on April. CS told me "new" svc tax after upgrade will be charged again in 3 months time. Then come June, svc tax charged but automatically paid to Amex Platinum, but no sign of svc tax charge for Visa Platinum.

it seems as long as this year there is no GST service tax charged, it will be a 1 time charge.

since your Platinum upgrade was done before your anniversary month (July), i guess there will be a 1 time charge of RM50.

I don't sense a question being asked... but i get why you are confused...

Even though the RM50 it's waived, you will still see a double transaction.

Cause... it's like they HAVE TO charge you... but they are paying it for you. so one debit, one credit, set-off

What i noticed with other banks are the same as well, they charge and they waive...

The odd part in my short and little experience is, maybank charged me AFTER (in my 3rd statement, 2 months later) my card has been approved for awhile whereas other bank just charged when it was approved.

And Thanks (to the other guy) who gave the email confirmation on the GST issue of existing cardholders.

i hope it remains the way it is, perpetually. smile.gif

good summary smile.gif that's what i observed too.

for Maybank, even upgrade from Gold -> Platinum, the service tax doesnt get charged upon upgrade approval. Mine got charged 2 months later.

for HLB, i recently gotten Wise card. GST immediately charged into my card's account on approval date, and i only gotten the physical card 1 week after approval and 1 week thereafter i gotten the PIN to use HLB Connect to check the transactions. doh.gif

For me, every month max up to RM50 rebate, 1 year already gotten RM600. Some more the points accumulated from AMEX card itself already >25k points per annum. I always can use the points to offset the GST. Extra points will exchange with shopping vouchers rclxm9.gif

It all depends on the merchant code

Tested on the following

- AEON
- Giant
- Village's Grocer
- B.I.G (Ben Independent Grocer)
- TMC

As long the merchan code matches , then you'll get 8x points. Forgot what's the merchant code for it

Hello, when they say annual income of RM60,000, does it mean that I have to work for one year only I am qualified for this? Because I have worked for 6 months only with monthly salary more than RM5k but they issued me the gold card.

no, if your monthly salary is above 5k and have worked for more than 6 months, it's considered as above 60k pa.

Make a remark in the CL upgrade form that you do not want to be upgraded to platinum.

How much are you trying to increase your limit to? I had a gold card with 75k limit years ago.
I think some reps are just trying to make more commission.

I think each classes have their own credit ceiling limit e.g. CIMB gold ceiling was 20k back then.

I remember my Gold CC from CIMB slightly more than the amount you mention.

Even now using Platinum but never use. Never bother ask them to increase anymore

Try apply for CL increase. I'm sure the ceiling limit can surpass some Infinite CL.
