Exchange rate for both are more or less the same. The problem here is the 'add on' for foreign trnx. For AMEX trnx, a single charge of 2.5% by AMEX, bank do not charge. For Visa trnx, a charge of 1% by Visa and 0.5 % by Maybank.
*
this doesnt make sense..based on your info..

AMEX = 2.5%
Visa = 1.5%

but the comparison i get is AMEX rate is lower than Visa..
perhaps Visa fees already increase for mbb card?

sorry as i'm confused....
if based on that site:

- Maybank VISA/MasterCard : 1%
- Maybank American Express with Maybank logo on top : 2.5%

so, VISA and MC should be lower rate right?  shocking.gif

but why you guys still insist AMEX is better?  sweat.gif  rclxub.gif

is it coz by the 5% rebate on weekend?
if on weekdays....VISA/MC better?  hmm.gif

below are my transactions.

VISA

AMEX

For USD, Amex may be better. It is after all AMERICAN EXPRESS  biggrin.gif
For other currency, it is best use VISA/MASTER, as Amex will always convert the currency to USD then convert back to MYR which most of the time get lower rates.
*
it is the same for SGD as well...
AMEX still lower than VISA...

and some other people do report for EUR as well..
same result..AMEX better result

Thanks for the info. I always thought AmEx is higher compared to VISA or MC. smile.gif
Not sure if this applies for PayPal as well? Though most of the time I purposely wait until weekend to purchase stuff online and charge them to PayPal which is linked to my AmEx though.
*
if you use the exchange rate by the cc rather than paypal rate, i think the result would be the same as the rest of online transaction

so the conclusion means any online transaction is in USD, always use AMEX. Other than that, all transactions use visa and mastercard ?
*
i always recommend ppl to use AMEX where possible...
unless there is a better promo with VISA/MASTER..

but it is up to you which one you want to use...

Always read that AMEX do double conversion and together with their admin fee will most of the time be more expensive  hmm.gif
Only way to find out is swipe both card about the same time and wait for your statement. laugh.gif

Did anyone knows about the free camera that you can redeem for new applicants? I was told by the person who called, that if I spent around RM250, I can redeem a free camera but I found no info regarding this.

Maybe someone can shed some lights into this.

Thank you.

Is this a new card? 5% Petrol, 5% Groceries, capped at RM50, no annual fee, not bad tho.

Maybank Islamic MasterCard Ikhwan Platinum Card

QUOTE(Human Nature @ Aug 11 2014, 12:59 PM)
it was introduced 2-3 months ago..yup a good alternative
*
if possible try to avoid ikhwan as you cant use for certain transaction..
e.g. alcohol, club and etc...

unless you are malay and dont use for those smile.gif

If compare card to card, of course M2Amex better, but I easily max out M2Amex rebate, so looking for some alternate add on.
*
then should consider MBB VS already..much better alternative than ikhwan...
at least no day restriction and have RM88 cap

I'm sorry but I do not understand this sentence above as bold. PP code is the 4 digits in front of the card? (functions just like using CCV digit)

why is it stucked after verifying? thanks~
*
that code is from paypal..not your CCV code..

this is the sequence how it work.

1. you click on the verify card
2. paypal make a USD10 transaction
3. once transaction go through and appear in your statement..you will see the 4 digit code in your statement
4. you go back to paypal and key in the code.
5. the USD10 willl credit to your paypal account and wouldn't refund like the USD1 transaction..

hope u get clear idea about this...
